I don't really travel by plane that much. However, I just came back from Kansas. I know is airport security is needed however I think it goes a little too far and it is inconsistent around the country. I walk with a cane. Even when security scans cane they won't give it back to me to walk through security so I'm forced to go in a wheelchair and be patted down. They are not courteous at all.
Money inside, if I didn't have to fly I wouldn't. Is it just me or does airport security go too far? :wave: :peace:

I've never been on a plane before IN MY LIFE! I've taken people to the airport though & have seen all the security. I don't think I'd like to go thru that at all. I've also heard the horror stories on the new about people basically being violated by going thru security at the airport. Just makes me want to drive everywhere.

About a year ago. I think they are going too far in their security, but guess it saves lives. I am not sure they have ever found anything lethal on somneone going through security. It would be interesting to see the statistics.

I haven't traveled by plane for a couple of years. At that time they didn't have any of the body scanning or pat down nonsense. We did have to take off out shoes and empty our pockets, and go through the metal detector. It went pretty smoothly, though, and I didn't feel violated. But I've heard that things are really bad now.

Last time I traveled by plane was two weeks ago, coming back from a trip. I flew from the south island of New Zealand to the north, then San Francisco, then home. San Francisco was the first time ever that I got "randomly selected" to have that detector rod go over me. I think the lady was just bored, because I am one of the most innocent looking people around. :angel12:

:o I have traveled by plane both before the new security measures and after they came to be.
I think the new security is both invasive of privacy in every aspect of it and not consistently applied. At one airport, I saw most everyone cleared at the preliminary screening. At another, I was embarassed to see 5 disabled people called aside for further screening. Most had prosthetic devices which they were forced to remove for screening. I think this was totally unecessary and de-humanizing for them. Not all were returned immediately after screening.
Removing a prosthetic in public would equate to you or me standing naked in public.

I have never flownI don't like hights so I don't fly. Beside I don't go anywhere where I need to fly its all in driving distance.

the first and last time i traveled by plane was about 10 years ago for my high school senior class trip to Cancun. enjoyed the vacay.

It has been more than 5 years since I flew by plane somewhere. I used to fly reguarly and it just got worse and worse with the extra security precautions that were being taken at the airports. For what it is worth I probably will never fly commercial again because of the extra hassels of the security precautions. Much simpler to see about hiring a local pilot to fly a private plane to where you need to go. Most of the time you can find somebody who is going that way anyway and you just split the cost of the fuel. Granted you wont get a meal or a pretty attentant to bring you a blanket. But for just a quick hop I think it is a lot less of a hassel than flying commercial.

The upped security makes no sense... Terrorists aren't even real.

July, flying is not fun anymore. Security is not bad but a hassle -lucky to get peanuts anymore-airline personnel is not very nice anymore

I think it was around 6-7 years ago was the last time I traveled by plane to Houston, Texas. Airport security was already enforced. At the time, every passengers have to take their shoes off and place all their belongings through the security scan. Only a few random individuals were selected to be scanned. I heard it is a lot worse now than before. The security/customs are rude to foreign tourists who only needed to temporarily pass by the airport to transfer to another plane. Regardless if a foreign tourist understands English, they were poorly treated by U.S. custom giving them a very rough time. >:( All their luggages and personal belongings have to be thoroughly checked. Very rude and obnoxious indeed in a desperate sort of way to intimidate potential terrorists? :dontknow:

I haven't ridden on an airplane for a long time, last time was to the Phillippines in 99'. I have no intention of going back on the plane anytime soon, especially with all these new security checks.

there wasnt that much security in IL to fla but from fla to Il they searched me and made me take my shoes off and everything. i was like wow i'm glad i live in IL.

I travel all the time, and mostly overseas. I'm getting used to the tight security, but would be willing to take a bit more of a risk for more freedom. However, since 9/11, I can understand why the TSA does what it does, and so I usually just try to grin and bear it...

I took a plane ride a few months ago. I rarely have any problems.

Two weeks ago. I went through security pretty quickly. My traveling companion got searched though.
While we were sitting waiting to board the plane, officials came and searched a guy sitting two rows from us. AFTER going through security. It was crazy!
