I live in a condo and have had very few trick-or-treaters over the years.
When I was growing up there was a older couple across the street didn't have any children but they loved Halloween. They decorated their whole house and she dressed up as a witch. Everyone came to their house even people who lived two towns away.
I know there are many reasons including safety concerns as to why children don't go trick-or-treating anymore. I just think it's a shame they've lost that part of their childhood. :peace:
-
I love the trick or treaters, but don't get any where I live now-no small children in the area
-
I think I may have had 4 trick-or-treaters in 15 years and those were kids I knew. I get a bag of candy just in case.
-
In my old neighborhood, I would get a ton of kids. At times, I even had a busload of kids lined up along my front walk. In this neighborhood, there are no younger children. The houses are quite far apart so it would be tougher for them to go ou, even if we had kids around.
-
we use to have a few come through but now days we dont get any,,i wish we did
-
Few here trick or treat from door to door, not to safe anymore. They go from store to store.
-
Yeah there are a fair amount of trick or treaters where I live. There isn't an over abundance of them because there is a more wealthy neighborhood right behind mine, so most of the kids only go back in that neighborhood as they think they will get better treats.
-
We live on dead-end street so we don't have very many but we get a few more than we used to because there are a bunch of young kids on the street now.
-
No kids out here dont trick or treat.I've only had 1 child knock on my door in 5yrs lol I really wish it was like how it was when I was growing up. Its was like a neighborhood thing. All the kids would go out trick or treating together. Its nothing like how it used to be. I feel really bad that my daughter wont get to experience a "real" halloween.
-
They still have door-to-door trick-or-treating in my little part of the world. We have several small cities around here and this is the first year in a long time that all but one will have the trick-or-treat night the same night. Several communities have gone to having community parties for the kids instead of going door-to-door. I am prepared every year for a trick-or-treater but no one wants to venture up my hollow.....
-
yes live in a new neighborhood where ther are lots of kids so you have to stock up with lots of candy.
-
Yes, alot of people drive several kids around on trailers.
-
i love the trick or treaters, but i live on a dark hwy outside of town, so i don't get any, but in my old neighborhood i would get a big crowd andi enjoyed it just as much as the kiddo's.
-
We usually get 3 or 4 groups of kids, maybe 3 to 6 in each. Not nearly as many as there used to be.
-
I live in a development with many townhouses and the kids come out in force ... get tons of them ... usually run out of candy - and I buy alot
-
I moved to a residential neighborhood last year and recalled seeing a few trick-or-treaters around after school/before dinner time...unfortunately I had skating practice and wasn't able to hand out any treats, as they were all done by the time I got back. Looks like that may be the case again this year. Perhaps next year I'll get to hand out treats...

It seems to change from year to year. Some years we have just a few and other years it is non stop. Our township has a curfew so late afternoon is the busiest. In prior years I have been working but this year I will be home. Maybe I will dress up a little and get the dog a festive scarf and have some fun with it.
We always find it hard to plan since we never have any idea as to how much to buy.We try to buy pretzels our another prepackaged but healthy snack. If we cannot we buy something that we do not care for or else we will be eating it all week!
How does everyone handle the Halloween leftovers?
-
I am not a big fan of Holloween. My wife enjoys the little one's though (5 and under). I live in a large single family housing area and we get quite a few kids come on holloween. We normally go through about 4-5 bags of candy. Probably about 50-60 kids.
-
im living in the city and we have a few kids in the neighborhood who still go trick or treating.
-
Omg, yes. I live out in the sticks with only a handful of kids in the area, yet we go thru more than 150 to 200 pieces of candy. The doorbell rings non-stop....I have no idea where they come from :dontknow: and every year we get a woman who is at least late sixties to early seventies here for candy ??? Guess Halloween isn't just for kids! :)
-
yes. it a lot of fun too see the little one all direst up for it.
-
We don't get many in our neighborhood, but I don't think it has anything to do with parents not letting their kids do it. Most of the people around here are retired and/or grandparents. We just don't have many growing families living here.
-
We lived in an apartment complex until we moved and had a lot of trick or treaters. Now we live in a house and have not had that many visitors. I hope we have a bunch this year.
-
they did in my old town, but i just moved up to the mountains, 3 hours from my old town..im so afraid that they dont up here lol
-
we get lots of kids as well.

Where I live maybe one or two will knock on my door.
-
Most of the kids in my neighborhood are teenagers and are two old to go trick or treating, but there are a few little ones that will go trick or treating this halloween!
-
in my area they are no trickers., but i do no that in the city there are a lot of them

LOL GREEDY BRATS Just Kidding Happy Halloween ;D
-
I live in a large college student apartment complex (over 500 students) but they trick or treaters rarely visit because most residents are out partying.. lol
-
Yes, where I live they trick or treat in the area, but down on my end of the street I don't get any, but my granddaugther goes on the other end where all the kids live and she gets lots of candy.
-
This is my first year in this home so I'll have to wait and see how it goes. Got candy just in case!
-
No, I live in a senior mobile home park and no one comes in here. I'm not usually home anyway.
-
No we live far out in the county and have not had a trick or treater in about 15 years. I always have a little something here just in case we are surprised.
-
Yes we have a lot of kids that still trick or treat! I love seeing the little ones dressed up it is a lot of fun. Our church has a nice alternative for the kids .... they dress up as bible characters (or anything they want really) and go from booth to booth in what they call the Hebrew market place. The get a short demo of how they did things in those days like weave a basket, crush wheat etc... and get candy. It teaches as well as treats ... no tricks :)
-
Yes we have trick or treaters visit us every year.
We live in a small town so it is safe and fun for the kids. Most parents walk with the kids --- or drive them if the weather is cold.
-
When I was growing up, Trick or Treating was the best, and I took my son as well. We always had so much fun, I don't think as many kids do it now a days, because of the scare. But I don't think it is as bad as they make it out to be. I don't know too many cases of bad stuff in candy and you don't really hear of it anymore. I am thinking of going to my husbands work, dressing up and handing out candy, I don't know yet.
-
Actually there are a lot of trick or treaters in my neighborhood. There are a lot of 4 plexes and duplexes on this street so it is so easy for the kids to fill their bag pretty fast. I always have extra candy so in case I get a lot of kids here.

I LOVE HALLOWEEN AND IM 26 AND STILL DRESS UP AND CELEBRATE IT
-
We moved here 2 years back this is our second halloween here ,have to see any kids visit this halloween, last year i hardly see kids on streets
-
the kids still love to trick or treat here they usually have their favorite areas to go in town though
-
We live in a sub-division that has a whole lot of children. So halloween is a very busy time here. I love it so much that I still wear a custom to give out candy. Sometimes we even set up a spooky house in the basement for the children to enjoy.
-
I live on the main "halloween street" in my town, every kid in the area makes sure to come through here. This is the first halloween we'll be here for, so I'm really excited! We have a 5 gallon bucket full of candy to hand out :)
-
absolutely. I'm planning on taking my children this year. Very excited!
-
yes
-
yes i have to buy alot of candy every year. there is so much kids that come
-
It seems to fluctuate year to year. The most trick or treaters my house ever got was around 50, and the lowest was maybe 3. Usually we get at least 10 or so if we decide to participate. Each year I always buy way too much candy and end up snacking on it myself. Maybe I'm just too hopeful for the little kids to come so I can give them candy. I really really wish I could go trick or treating again. So many years ago it was now. :crybaby2:
-
not really =/
-
No like we did in the old days! :dontknow: Nowdays they are taken into the malls and to Holloween festivals and carnivals. :cat: Much safer and they really don't need all of that candy :dontknow:
-
every where i have ever lived there has always been lots of trick or treaters. i miss them all now though due to taking my own kids out on trick or treat night. i have always lived in small towns or cities though.
-
There are tons of kids who trick or treat in our town. We dress up as a family and go out together, just leave our candy on the front step for the other kiddos to take. Surprisingly the basket is never empty when we return! Our night is always the night before Halloween, the 30th. Hoping for good weather this year!! :icon_rr:
-
I'm not sure if children trick or treat where I resided because I just moved to this residence and it's an apartment so I'll see on the 31st for sure.
-
WELL I DO BUT ITS DEPITS WHERE YUH LIVE AT :- :-
-
Yes, I don't get many kids these days. I know I have one coming for sure. I am hoping for more than that. I have the night off and want to get the yard decorated with just a few things and hand out candy. I love Halloween. Liked it more when I was a kid. It was so much fun when I was old enough to go by myself.
-
I live in a basement suite and have to go out to them
-
I live in an older neighborhood that is trick or treat friendly. Usually all the porch lights are lit on our block. The number of trick or treaters has varied through the years, so it's hard to predict how much candy to buy. We can see anywhere from 30 to 60 little costumed visitors. Early in the night I hand out 1 or 2 pieces of candy to each child, but after a couple of hours, if a lot of candy is left, each child gets a whole handful! I don't want all those calories so readily available to me!!
-
We still get trick or treaters in our neiborhood, but not as many as it used to
-
I live out of town so I don't get many here.
-
Kids don't come to my house trick or treating, we are far off the beaten track. I always take my kids to my In laws, they always decorate and dress up. One of their neighbors has an amazing pirate theme that gets better every year.
-
We will see. We just moved into the area so I don't know how many kids we will get. It may be alot since we lived close to a Elementary school. The last house I lived in, we never had any trick or treaters. We had no sidewalk in front of the house and no lights on the street. It was pretty scary at night.
-
Yes, they come in groups with their parents.
-
I also live in a condo, but this is my first year here, so I won't know what the trick-or-treat situation will be like until Halloween! My grandmother used to live here before us, and she says that not many kids are in this building, so I shouldn't expect many. Since we have locked outer doors, it's not like children from another building can come to our building, unless they know a person here and are buzzed in. At my old apartment, we got some trick-or-treaters and I really enjoyed handing out the candy to the kids and seeing their costumes.
-
Yes why not??? because they are youngman, sometimes they don't know what they are doing. sometimes yes
But i'm not carzy for them...because they are not adult like us.
