Do you have one? Would you like to own one? From what I have seen on the ads, they don't interest me at all.

Well... I would want to own an electric car! I love small vehicles ;D and want to go green! But are electric cars really greener?

Considering that over 69% of our electric power comes from fossil fuels, electric cars are not as 'green' as one would think, so you are right to be skeptical, sungup. I also think that the production is less green in general as well but don't have any numbers. Also our average efficiency across the us for converting fossil fuels to electricity is around 30% (although if all plants were modernized this could climb to nearly 60%). The average efficiency for a combustion engine is about 20% and the assumed efficiency for electric engines (considering power station loses) would be about 26%. So yes electric cars are 'greener' as far as based on overall power usage, but the amount isn't as much as one would think. When you factor in cost and convenience I will gladly stick with combustion and have no bad feelings. Now 40 years in the future when technology is ready things might be different.
