I am newly retired. I will admit that I am on disability and just started Medicare.
This has been a three year adventure that I thought would never end. I am not looking to make a fortune, just enough to buy a pizza or cheeseburger now and then or get a haircut (don't laugh....but I cut my own hair) Talented?
Some would say, others just look, but I do a fair to middling good job and it works, until it doesn't work. Mistakes can happen.
So, I am supplementing my income. Of course, if I just happen to have an epiphany of good luck or knowledge shoot through my brain and I start to make a lot of money.. I won't complain.
So, are you trying to replace your income and become a stay at home entrepeneur(sp?) or just looking for some pocket change?

Oldbuddy has some great ideas for making extra cash, you should get together with him.

Just looking to make a few extra $$. For now it all goes to the savings for a rainy day.
-
I'm just trying to make a few extra bucks to help pay off my college loans.
-
one should try selling your own stuff online.
-
merely supplementing at this point. I'm a stay-at-home momma to my 10 month old, and I like having a little cash of my own
-
I'm trying to supplement my income since I lost my really good paying job back in March. I'm making about 1/3 of what I did and no longer have health insurance. It has been a struggle. My husband is also on disability and we both have medical problems. I would take a part-time outside of the home job in addition to the full time job I have now but he feels like he is abandoned most of the day now so I do what I can via computer so that I can at least be sitting in the same room.

I'm a recovering hoarder..of sorts. If I buy something, it's because I wanted it and ..still want it. Many memories and stories are connected to my possesions..my pretties... :D

That's where I'm at right now...just to have some extra for the unexpected that always turns into a rainy day if one is not prepared...

I am my sister's caretaker (along with my Mom)..but my sister lives with me..has since her husband died 15 years ago. I was still working then. ...American Airlines...then 9/11...ultimately laid off...I was in management who always have the better benefits ::)
She is disabled in a wheelchair and I have fought to keep her as independent as possible as my ultimate goal for her was to be able to walk again and meet a new man and get married and ride off into the sunset....
that didn't happen...
but, I 've taught her to use the computer and she has 3 sons and 2 grandchildren and is as happy as one can be... considering
Currently she is in a nursing home recuperating from a bout of cellulitis and septis(sp) and has been there for a year come next week. She is doing better but cannot come home until she can transfer to her chair so she is working with a therpaist to get the strength back in her legs.
Of course, when she went to the nursing home..her SSI check followed her so I was left with the mortgage, all utilities, and her credit card bills....so the extra biy of $$ is always welcome in this household, but being on disability, I can't do much, so this work at home when you want, when you need is pretty neat....
Make sure you are taking care of yourself in all of this and for what it's worth...don't let him become too dependent on you....
Katie hears it from me everyday..."if you don't use it...you'll lose it"

I am a stay at home mom, since we can't afford daycare unless I have a real well paying job. My husband is in the militart, so the benefits are good. The only problem is being an airman, married, with two kids does not pay well. We are still a pay check t pay check family, the good thing is that we don't pay medical. We do have to pay dental, and on-base housing is always booked so we have to pay rent and utilities. With two kids of different sexs you have to have seperate rooms if they are 1 and up, so the amount of bah never covers what it is ment to. NOW the government is trying to take away tuitions assistance for active military or bah. No matte what they pick we are in trouble. My hubby is going to college right now on tuitions assistance so he can move up and with no on base housing available most of the time I need enough money to cover one of those within the next year. They are planning on changing it within the the next year. So I have to make this work great for me. I am going to start a website and I already started a blog, but both are new to me. So I have to do alot of foot work.

I work part-time as a courtesy clerk and it doesn't pay me very well. I use to get medical and benefits from social security about 5 months ago and then, they decided to cut me off. I was getting about $800 a month and half of it was coming from my job. Now, I'm trying to live with about $400 a month. I figure I would get some kind of medical benefits from my job since its a union and I been working there for over a year now. They said I need to work 80hrs for 3 months straight before I can qualify for medical benefits. I don't think my job will give me enough hours to cover those 80hrs. I'm not even allowed to work overtime. I think its just a BIG BS because I believe anyone should qualify for benefits after working for a union for about 6 months at least. Now, I'm living without any medical benefits and I don't have anymore high blood pressure medicine. I took my last high blood pressure medicine about a month ago if not more. I'm not sure if I can get it refilled or not. I just don't know what to do half of the time anymore.

I'm doing this and other sites to make extra money but my ultimate goal is to be able to work from home full time. I just have to find more and/or better ways of making a lot more money online.
-
I moved from CA to OK and haven't been able to find a job, so I am trying to earn enough money online to pay my rent and utilities
I only need about $350 a month but if I could make $400-$500 I would be happy.
-
The money I made from here and other sites was used for a bit of everything....bills, savings, extra money for spending, etc. But now thing are crucial and I cant really enjoy it like I want :angry7: Still aiming to make $150/month online but time is becoming a big factor

just trying to make a little extra for diapers. it has helped out a lot for me.
-
I hope to be able to make a living from home eventually, but the money that i have made from here and other sites has been helpful when i needed some extra cash for gas and food, or just to do a bit of splurging and buy something that i wanted!
-
I do Fusioncash and some other things to supplement my income. I still work eight hours days, but I don't make that much so I need a little extra income for my nails and getting my hair done etc...

I had no idea. I thought that we took better care of those who are onpoint fighting for us. The good thing is with two kids you have the medical. I hadn't heard of them trying to take away the tuition assistance....that was supposed to be one of the selling points for enlisting for Pete's sake.
I too tried to start a website and blog (it is out there somewhere) but like you have no idea how to keep I going or use it to my advantage. The ones that advertise that they will help you want money...and if I took the chance and tried ..they sent one of those e-books that tell you nothing but want more money...
Good luck with you endeavor...I know the money is out there..eventually you (we) will piece it together ...

Sorry I don't know anything about Unions....it sounds like you are in a Catch 22...I don't know where you were getting your Rx's filled but I use the $4 dollar services at some of the better known stores...all you have to do is bring in the prescription and.. you're in...I live in Tx and we have County hospitals that take you on a sliding income basis...for medical and Rx...I was using them for three years with no income so was paying only a five dollar copay for everything...amd if you don't have the fiver...well, they still let you in...they don't turn you away...
I am very grateful for them as they are the reason I am still alive....then I humbled myself and found some food banks and Catholic Charities will help with rent and utilities...
good luck...

Five? MY goodness...I just don't understand it..I went through all my savings and assets in three years..and, fortunately, I have the most wonderful Mom in the world..

I just got my haircut today using my earnings...otherwise, I would have had to pull out the dog clippers and done it myself...I was ready and I always know it's time for a haircut when I start snipping at it myself.
I'm so glad that the weather has cooled down so the electricity has gone down considerably and the water (yes, I watered my front patch of grass..., and my flowers, and my pecan trees....) ...so I should have something for Christmas, at least for Mom and the grand kids...

Supplementing, but not just $10 here and there, I'm talking about striving for a great income. I need it if I want to stay around the Washington DC area, lol. Rent is ridiculous out here, unless you want to live 50 miles outside the city.

How do you get the other messages at the top like that?
Anyways they are not stopping the GI Bill because you actually pay for that during basic training so they cant without a fight. But my hubby wanted to save that for the kids. So the tuitions assistance makes it to where we only pay $95 dollars a class. Which is better that paying it all out of pocket. I'm just praying right now that they see that doing either is a bad idea. But they have been cutting back on alot of things already for the military. They are doing it to cut down the debt and bail out companies, when they dont seemto realize that most of the money the military gets paid keeps the areas that have military bases running. I live in Colorado Springs, which has 4 bases. So if that goes through, all the going out and extras that people do all the time will stop. Only for the military people, but here that it most of the people. Plus they have already lowered the BAH alittle and it has already effected us. We havent gotten to go out since July, when my hubby got back from Afphgan. I have hope that the Sergents Association (the military union, basically) will be able to stop it, but I have to have a back up plan just incase. My family is the most important thing, and my husband loves his job. I wouldn't want him to have to worry about money.

I have two of everything, toilet paper, shampoo, deodorant...etc...etc....I've always got some money somewhere for emergencies...and actually have the willpower to leave it for emergencies...
Everyone thinks I'm crazy until they run out of something in the middle of using it... 8)

Never hurts to think ahead and to be prepared. A little here and there eventually builds up.....but there is a great rush when you get a big windfall that is like nothing else... :D

Supplementing. It all helps and I also raise a garden and put up food but I'm usually interested in checking out ways people are making supplemental or replacing their income. I think we should be able to make a living off the internet regardless of where we are located.
-
I've been doing this since I think 2008, it will never be enough for me to not have to have another source of income. I use it for some extra spending money.

Doing a little of both here. Currently laid off from 2 part time jobs :'( But having a little coming in is better than none. All I can find is part time work anymore. But I'm grateful for anything at this point.
