NO cooking or clean-up!! For the last 15 years, I have went out for Thanksgiving dinner or made maybe one dish for a church Thanksgiving dinner. I refuse to cook all day anymore. It's nice going out to a really nice Thanksgiving buffet. I'll be spending Thanksgiving with my family this year out of State and we will be going OUT for dinner. We might pick up some special desserts for later, but nobody is going to cook. It ceases to be fun for the women who cook all day while the men sit and watch football and belly up to the table. Thanksgiving should be a holiday for all, not just the men.
My last Thanksgiving I cooked, 2 families got together. However, the men plopped themselves down in front of the TV and did nothing but holler for more snacks and drinks, filled up on Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings, and then promptly fell asleep on the couch and their easy chairs, while the women who had cooked the day before and that morning did all the dishes and cleaned up. Later on when they woke up and watched another Football game, they advised the women that they wanted leftover Turkey sandwiches and desserts.
I realized right then and there, that was the LAST Thanksgiving dinner I was ever going to cook. I gotta tell you that I've never been happier. Some big hotels put on some beautiful Thanksgiving buffets. If I want leftovers, I can buy them and take them home for later. I actually love Thanksgiving now! Sometimes we will go down to the shelter and serve Thanksgiving dinner and eat there. Now that is giving back on Thanksgiving. What it's all about.

Stuffing is the best! The turkey is just a container for the stuffing! ;)
-
The whole family getting together and sitting down and eating Turkey and all the fixings!
-
I go to my church and my favorite part is visiting and trying out new food items... :angel12:

My favorite part of Thanksgiving is the coming together of family and friends to thank God for his kindness and to eat all that great food. I think that women like me who love to cook must love this time of year. I really do. Nowadays everyone is on a diet and I don't get to really get loose in the kitchen that often. There are only so many low calorie meals a person can tolerate before they explode. :) :) :)

The cornbread dressing and gravy.Don't need anything else. Can't wait. And of course my homemade chocolate cake.

THE TURKEY!!! ;D gime gime gime...lol. But seriously Thanksgiving is about eating and nothing favors me more than to eat till I'm stuffed.

I like it all, but most of all the turkey..we dont' get to have turkey that often, so I am always looking forward to it.
I like everything about Thanksgiving, especially before dinner.... Everyone stands in a circle holding hands and tells what they are thankful for. The food is always delicious too.

Being with family and friends and having a wonderful holiday together.

I like the spirit of togetherness all working to make a great meal for family or friends. I also love the food and the leftovers at least at first. =P

The food coma after eating so much food is the best.

Sitting together with your loved ones that you don't get to see most of the year. The smell of the food when you walk into the house. I always enjoy the dressing and dessert. I really miss the cold weather I had up north too. :crybaby2:

Being together with family, friends, while eating and having fun...and being thankful for everything!

Desert -- :notworthy: Apple pie + icecream + whipcream =

My favorite thanksgiving treat is a lot of yumy mashed potatoes with turkey gravy! Of course the turkey is good too, but I would pass up dessert for more mashed potatoes and gravy. :)

Letting my dogs get to watch the turkey cooking in the Nu Wave oven (I put it safely out of their reach so they won't get burned) they sit watching it "glued to it" just like kids to a tv. My yellow lab LOVES the annual turkey commercial on tv for the grocery store that has the person dressed up like a turkey dancing around saying "gobble, gobble". This year I bought her a stuffed toy turkey that says "gobble, gobble". It's going to be a hard holiday season, we're still really missing our Shadow and Tony. Tuna loves to eat though and he'll probably stuff hisself with turkey, I always love watching them enjoy their homemade meals.

The dressing and gravy would be my favorite part, followed closely of course by the turkey and pumpkin pie. YUM :notworthy: :notworthy:

Everyone getting together, pitching in to make one huge family feast.

i love all the food and this year is my second daughters first thanksgiving so joy joy on seeing how she like all the goodies

I love being with family and sharing a great meal. Not cooking or cleaning up is not bad either! :notworthy:
-
I use to look forward to stuffing, candy yam and eventually pumpkin pie for dessert, but as my family has been getting older some of the dishes have been replaced with items more accomodating for everyone's diet. Some of the excitement (at least with food) is kind of gone.

I enjoy everything that we eat on Thanksgiving! but my favorite thing is probably the stuffing or dressing! which ever way you say it! thats my favorite thing
-

Stuffing :thumbsup:I wait all year to eat stuffing at Thanksgiving. Sometimes we have it at Christmas dinner if I'm lucky but usually it's just Thanksgiving. I still have to wait about a year either way. :P

the sleepy feeling after finishing up the turkey and all the delicious deserts, and of course FOOTBALL! :)
-
My favorite part of Thanksgiving is getting together to fellowship with the family over a delicious turkey meal. ;) ;) ;)

I dont even know how to answer here. This will be the first thanksgiving without my mother-n-law. She passed away this summer. So I guess my favorite part will be talking about her. :'(
-
I agree with all who say the best part is being with family and friends. I'm a vegetarian and so I don't eat turkey, but it doesn't matter to me what the food is - its the thankfulness for the love and companionship of others. I wish you all a warm and Happy Thanksgiving!
-
I love the dressing...I don't even have to have the turkey!! But it must be stuffed in the turkey!!
-

You're all making me hungry. I like it all. I love the food and the social interaction. I'm thinking that this year I'll make a homemade pecan pie. I also enjoy having a day where I can contemplate all the things I'm grateful for.

The best part of Thanksgiving dinner is the family getting together and enjoying a good meal. I love the little ones as I don't get to see them every often. I have 2 grandsons and their families that live up North and wish I could see them at the holidays but they don't come home.
