they say scent is the strongest sense tied
to memory. can you think of one that always reminds
you of something specific? good or bad?
the smell of coffee brewing makes me think of my dad.
he constantly has a cup in his hands... always has.
this smell makes me think of him.

Whenever I smell fresh tar it brings me back to my cousins' old house. I would visit every summer since I was born until 16 and for a long time their street wasn't paved. Finally it was paved when I was still a young kid and that's the smell I remember.

The smell of Lavendar makes me think of my mom (who passed away 2008). She would always light a lavendar candle in her bedroom, so the room would smell before she went to bed. She always said that it made her sleep better.

The scent of any type of "sweet" smelling perfume reminds me of my mom! She never wore strong bold types of perfume. It was always light and sweet smelling! She passed away in 2005 and I miss her so much.

I don't really connect memories to scents but I've always had a strong reaction to English Leather.

The smell of dog cookies baking reminds me of my Shadow and while she was "all good memories"...it's been too hurtful to deal with baking dog treats because Shadow is missed so much. I've been on an "extended vacation" from baking anything but with the holidays coming up I know I'll be letting down my Gypsy if she doesn't get her yearly Christmas treats, so somehow I'm going to have to manage it. :sad1:

:wave:I love the small of fresh cut grass. It takes me back to my childhood of the 60's when I lived up north. And, also the smell of the earth after a rain up there was very comforting to me.
Also, the smell of Avon's bubble bath in the pink bottle takes me back to a place in my childhood when things were innocent and children could be children. :angel12:

so many moms to remember... including mine.
the smell of hairpsray reminds me of her getting
ready for work in the mornings.
yes, fresh cut grass sparks memories of childhood
for me too for some reason! haha.

awww. maybe you could look at baking the treats
as an honor to shadow. i'm sure she'd want gypsy
to celebrate her life by eating those dog treats! :)

I love the smell of cookies or cakes baking. It always makes me think of spending time with family in the kitchen and baking and decorating desserts. Can't help but think of eating them too. :p

Sometimes I think of the smell of the oiled wood floors in the grade school I went to in the first and second grade. Yes.....that was a bunch of years ago. It was a nice smell though.

When I owned my horses and went to the feed store, it always reminded me of my grandmas house. She had a horse and the smell of the sweet feed was everywhere. I loved it there. It was beautiful.

I had an extremely nasty case of the flu growing up. Their was a commercial for that peanut butter and jelly mix in the same jar. It played like every 10 minutes on the TV. To this day the sight or smell of that stuff makes my stomach churn.
EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I went back to the halls of my high school after 30 years and just the smell took me back. It was incredible the memories that resurfaced standing there. A good friend was with me and she said: "man, it takes you right back".
I love Chanel No.5, and have worn it for years. Every once in awhile though it will take me back to when I first got it as a gift from my Fiance at that time who liked the smell. No, I didn't marry him, but kept the fragrance. ;D
