It gets harder every year to make a good Christmas. I usually try to spend $100 on my son and his wife and also that much each on the grandkids but my hubby I tend to way over spend! This year we spent a lot on my elderly parents but it may be the last year we have with them.

My family is short of money this year, so we decided to bake cookies together instead of exchanging presents.
I feel that this season is more about spending time together than consumerism.

Times are still tough for my household. We surely wont be spending as much as the previous years. The last couple years, we made sure kids were taken care of & my husband & I forfeited gifting. We celebrate the gift of our Lord & Savior every year. It doesnt cost a thing :angel11:

We on average spend 200 dollars. We spend about 140 on family presents and then the rest for presents for us. We have alot of family and not alot of money. So getting presents for us and the kids takes some time. We depending on the price sometimes there is more left over for us.

I set an amount and usually stick to it. my oldest daughter has a live in boyfriend and father of her 3rd child and the father of her first two works so it is a family of 3 adults working, so I dont get them so much. my second child has 3 kids on her own and no job so we get more for those grandkids so they have something under the tree. My 3 younger children we spend the same amount on. My husband I get something special for him.

I usually try to buy for my hubby, mom, and dad. We used to do a gift exchange with my siblings and mom and dad, but we stopped a few years ago. Plus I have six nieces and a nephew and it just got to be too much.

probably too much. but it is better to give than recieve. I feel we are in a much better place financially than most of my family, so I like to give them a little extra.
