As for me,it has opened my eyes to what i never knew.I now save moreand try to have scattered investments if i can.But never forget to save. How do you feel?
-
i try to save more money.. not that it helps. i hav a dances comming up and even if i try to save money, im going to spend at least $900 :(
-
Tried saving money, even though I had a LAN Party (games in same location) and my monitor broke and bought a new $400 one the next day. lol.
-
i don't eat out as much as i did before and i am saving money. i use coupons now when i go shopping, never did that before.
-
I've always been pretty good about saving money, but now I've really cut back on eating out, going out for drinks, movies, things like that. I also ride a bike/walk a lot more, too (when it's nice out, that is.)
-
I've given up my land line and meals out. I'm also planting an extra-large vegetable garden this year.
-
Well... Sadly we never have any money to go do anything... Most of our money goes to bills, food, and cigarettes. I'm trying to find a job at the moment, but it's been extremely hard because no where is hiring around where I live because of the econemy. Hopefully Obama will be able to fix things, if given time. Everyone's been on a real tight budget. Even the food pantries here went from letting people come every week, to once a month now!
-
the economy really affects my family both in a good way and bad... good because i learn how to value money any learn how to save...
-
I wish I could save more money. My daughter is in high school and we now have to pay for sports and any other extra-curricular activities the kids decide to do! I've had to take a second job to cover all the expenses!
-
For me the economy has not hit me as hard as some. I got divorced the end of last year, and now that I am not helping to cover someone elses poor spending habits (My ex used to spend more on frivolous spending than he even made in a month, not to mention he didn't have enough left over to help pay our house payment or daycare, etc).
So for me, I actually have MORE money now than I did before, so I am concentrating on putting as much into savings as I can, and paying down all my debt.
-
For us it has been a little hard. My husbands job cut back on hours due to the winter time. We are having a baby in less than 4 months and trying to figure out where the money is ging to come from for the hospital bill scares us. We were doing fine for a very long time. But now its getting a little tight.
-
FOR ME ITS HARD AS I HAVE NOT HAD A JOB SINCE JULY SO I HAVE BEEN LOOKING INTO HOME BASED BUISNESS LIKE CASH SURVEY TYPE WEBSITES AS I HAVE BILLS TO PAY AND SUCH
-
I hate the economy right now.
But it's really made me see just how precious a dollar is, that's for sure.
-
The economy does suck! But it could be worse.
Im basically having to cut out things like eating out and other leisure activities. At least gas has went down! (although I see it slowly creeping back up...)
-
the economy has hit me extremely hard. I'm struggling every day and never thought I'd have to search for ways to earn cash online. I've been feeling pretty low as of late, and just hope things will get better, but my friends are losing homes and I can't even pay my phone bill (I'm job-less). I might even have to stop carrying around a phone. Bah. :-[
-
:crybaby2: I am poor anyway hahah!!! But honestly, I grow my own veggies, and have some fruit, and nut trees too, so I do save money on that.
-
definetley, i am now a major coupon clipper and ad watcher,i am big on saving now... i do this for fun money, because i dont have none....
-
We lost our farm and had to send all of our cows to auction. We still only made a 4th back of what we owe the bank for the loan. I lost my job and haven't been able to find another one. As a result of our lack of funds, my other half is being sent overseas. He says its the only way to make a steady income right now. The economy has put us on our knees in that we pray more often, we realize that what we have is enough, and we love each other more. It is both a blessing and a curse.
-
i cant do or get what i want i have to budget every dime to get what i need. if i have anything left over I have to put that away for the next round. lol. Its a hard time.
-
we have direct depost at my place of employment and I always put money into my savings but most of the time I have to get into it just to get by. at this point, i don't have enough money to pay the bills. I worry about loosing my house and having my utilities cut off. I just have to have faith that things will be okay. hence why i am trying to earn extra money. Another job is in the new future.
-
My husband just took a 20% pay cut after being laid off for a month. He's one of the lucky ones; at least he was able to find another job! My heart goes out to all those who have posted descriptions of their economic woes. I find it amazing that the foolish decisions of a relatively small number of powerful people have caused such massive suffering and destruction in this once-prosperous, strong nation.
-
:sad1: the economy sucks right now and the thought that we haven't hit bottom yet is really scary. We cancelled our cable service and stopped eating out to try to save more money.
-
:-
I am very worry about the situation. No good news around on the media... I am not working, just my boyfriend (thank God). We try to save evrything.. I been print groceries coupons ( Its help a lot )...We decided to disconected the cable bill , since we just watch the basic cable and network tv ( and even we haven't no cable anymore we still have like 70 channels for a few months) and we watch movies rentend from the Red Box ( just $1)... We have stoped to go out every week, just in special occasions and I have been cooking almost every day ( no more delivery )... You have to try to save in all the ways .... I have hope things gonna get better...
BE HAPPY...BELIEVE ;D

Being a stay at home mom and not earning an income in this though economy is extremely difficult on my household. I definitely have to watch how I spend my husband hard earned income. I certainly utilize coupons, monitor the sales papers, shop for freebies etc. Thanks to this site and similar ones, I can also acquire a few additional $. Every little will helps - it adds up.
-
the worst thing is how it has affected my children. when they ask for something that all their friends have and you know you cant afford it, its heartbreaking to not be able to give your kids basic luxuries. its not about spoiling them , you just dont want them to be aware of your strug >:(gles
-
My family uses coupons more often now that food is more expensive in my area. I don't drive as far as i use to (leisurely) due to saving money on gas. I've been trying to get a job for a few months and still no luck (graduated college last December) :(
just bad timing i guess... hopefully the economy gets better soon.

Since the gas prices have gone down it has helped us a little bit. We aren't eating out as much and are being very creative on our meals. It has also helped that I am doing this to bring in a little extra money.
-
the economy really affects everybody and it's terrible.. i'll say that first thing that i learn is to think twice before spending my money to anything that is not necessary.....mortgage, car payment, insurance, and bills always are always on top of my list.
-
i dont eat out as much anymore
i also cant go shopping that much :'( wich totally sucks since i have to buy a whole new wardrobe for highschool next year
-
It has hit me extra hard. I am in the marketing business as a independent contractor. But the economy has really hit my department hard and everyone is cutting back. I have really lost alot of clients and in turn alot of money. I'm single and not meeting my bills every month now. I'm looking for other sources of income and other jobs. I'm scaling down all my bills and hopefully it will get better soon.
-
The housing market has gone to pot amongst the downfall of the economy, therefore my friend can't get her home sold when she so desperately needs to...AND the fact that we've been trying to, ever so slowly as money comes in, remodel our home to sell it just makes it doubly disastrous!!! What is going to happen in the end I wonder?? Where will we all be and how will we all be living? eating? surviving? PLEASE let this be a big bad governmental "hype" to scare us into spending more money in the US.
-
The economy affected me to in a way i work for the school system in the kitchen i used to be full time now i just work 3 hrs a day
-
Its really not that bad.
I still see people going out to eat, going to the movies. People are still spending money. There are still jobs to be had. So i don`t see it being that bad right now at all.
-
my position (along with others) at work has been terminated. thank god wife has a stable job. i can only imagine the situation back in the "great depression".
-
yes My husband is a civil engineer and got laid off in January and is now finding it hard to get a job , I am nurse and 300 in the hospital that I work for got laid off ... My job is save thank goodness because aI am a bedside nurse.
-
i know this is a bad job, but for those of you who need work i know that Mcdonalds is hiring.
-
same here.. things are tough.. any extra money helps.. thank goodness my husband hasn't lost his job, but he lost all his over time which was paying for our groceries.... so I am back to work with 2 babies... and looking for any ways possible to earn extra cash here and there... I really hope things get better. Being able to save money right now is just a dream.. paycheck to paycheck is our game right now.
-
The economy has put a strain on the family, indeed. The budget is definitely tighter, but I wake up every morning with a breath of fresh air that I have a 4-year contract, so I will always have a paycheck until next contract negotiations come up in 2012. Contract even states that if they drop my employment that they will still have to compensate me for the contract.
It's a military contract position, if anyone was curious how that works.
-
jobless, tried to cut down as many bills as possible but now stuck to the basics, like utilities, car payment, insurance, etc. Me and the hubs are not doing so well on our relationship because of financial problems...
-
Savings, nah that's a laugh :D! But since I been on unemployment for almost a year now, unemployed since Oct of '07, I've had to do alternative methods of earning money! Now I blog, do freebie sites like this and a few others, I have an online talk show, I hire people to complete small tasks for me (so I can get paid..lol), and I'm involved in a network marketing program; which I think these type programs everyone should look into! Most these companies are debt free and compensate very well!!
But in a nutshell, I've been surviving and making it by a hair, I just don't give up and don't plan on going out look for another J.O.B. when I can do that from my living room!!

I stopped going out to eat. Not able to work cuase we only have one car. Im not able to afford insureance and amininance on a 2nd car. We have no extra money to go out to enjoy ourselves.
-
The economy has effected me alot. I'm trying to save more and spend less. I just pry and hope things will get better, i dont want to see a depression.
-
Ohhh mannn I wish I hadn't read this. Since the only adverse effect the economy had on me was Circuit City closing down and thus making it impossible to obtain cheap Xbox accessories. However, I just got one of the biggest income tax returns I ever had, and bought a laptop and Halo: Combat Evolved. So....yeah....please don't hurt me. Or get mad. I mean, get mad, but don't get too mad.
-
Stock portfolio plumeted, kids will be going to community college for a bit now...
-
I know this will sound strange...but it hasn't really affected me all that much..I mean the prices of everything goes up...which sucks..and my family members are losing their jobs...being laid off...as well as my friends...and my heart as well as my prayers go out to them....We have been blessed beyond our wildest dreams because my husband has a stable steady job....however I know that if the economy isn't fixed sometime soon that could change. For now we rely on God's greatness and His promise of "ask and you shall receive." and continue to pray everyday that we can continue to live the way we do...
I should probably mention that we have always been very frugal with our money...we don't shop often...we buy only what's absolutely necessary...we try to save money by smart grocery shopping...as well as energy efficient everything....so because I was already practicing all of these money saving habits I think that is another reason that we haven't entirely felt the economy drop...because really nothing has changed for us....
I will be praying for all of you that are having hard times....it breaks my heart....I'm sorry to hear of such sadness, anxiety, and worry....
Just remember to have Faith and ask God for everything you need....Trust in His Word!

The economy has effected m family hugely!
-
I've been out of work for along time and am disabled, so for many years had to cut corners, pinch pennies, and scale back. I guess you could say I'm use to going without the expensive luxuries and have created new ways and means to make up for it. You adjust to the new way of life. After awhile it doesn't bother you.
-
My family and I have been blessed by the Gods and Goddesses.
My family so far is doing well. Of course we don't spend crazily either, we never have. Our credit isn't all that grand either but we still have two vechiles that we can still afford to pay for.
However, the economy has me thinking it's time for me to go back to college and finish my MS. You never know what will happen tomorrow! My hubby may be out of work and we will be depending on my BS degree. Which is not very high degree anymore.
Times are rough for sure, I hope things will look up soon. Specially for others that have little ones in these crazy economy days.
-
The economy has hit me pretty hard. I still have a job, but had to take a 20% wage cut. My brother lost most of his benefits and was downgraded from a full time employee to part time. He and his two kids moved in with me and he has very little to contribute. I went from being single and care free to in debt and support a family of four almost over night. I have given up pretty much all of my entertainment expenses. They have been replaced by those of raising elementary age kids. It is really frustrating. I spend most of my days asking "Why me", but there really isn't anyone else. The upshot is I finally have a legitamite excuse for not dating.
-
I can say that it put it us on a very strict budget. So here I am finding other ways to earn extra money to try and save. The economy really SUCKS!!!!!And there is always something that unexpected to come up that puts us in tighter bind.Crazy life these days.........can only hope for better.
-
just trying to save as much money as possible....not eating out and only buying what i really need.
-
this month really sucked for us we had a stomach bug which went through all three of us then i got pneumonia and hubby and the baby got bronchitis we had to spend over 400 in medicines one of my antibiotics alone was 327.77 which made our rent late and we had to spend our savings of ones. we save all of our one dollar bills it adds up quick
-
I took a huge pay cut and now I'm trying to save as much money as I can by doing the double coupon days at a local supermarket and doing as many online surveys and such as I can. I hope things will start to look up around here soon!!
-
The hours at my job have been cut. This of course has caused a cut in my paycheck. As a singel parent, tis has caused me to have to rethink what I spend money on. I have to cut back on things and give up on the idea of being able to have a happy mother's day or even a happy birthday (which is also this month). In thinking ahead, I don't even know if my kids with have happy birthdays or Christmas. Our "gifts" for the year will be having a place to stay, ligts, heat, and as a bonus food.
-
im a stay at home mom. im looking for work and cant seem to find anything in my area and this june will be 2 years that i havent worked and its so stressfull because my feance took an 8 dollar an hour pay cut and has been out of work for 3 months now. and we lost our place moved in with family and gave our car back to the bank so we are feeling it bad really bad its causing a lot to stress on our realationship and family.
-
I'm sorry to hear that. At least I still have my teaching job, although my hours have been cut 8%. And I shouldn't complain; some of my colleagues who teach other subjects have had their hours cut by 33% and will lose their benefits as a result. I wish you luck and hope you find work soon.
-
The ruined economy taught me that I hate politicians and rich people. They ruined it for honest, hard working people so they get make more money for themselves. As the economy has become worse over the last year I have graduated with an MBA that I cannot use because the job market sucks, got laid off by my company because they were cutting payroll to avoid their billionaire owner from dropping the investment in the company, lost my health insurance and could not afford to pay out of pocket for it on my unemployment check, and just had my husband go into the hospital last weekend for an appendectomy. I have been unemployed so long that I have spent all my savings, maxed out my credit cards and try everyday to make make money doing surveys online. If there was one individual to blame for the worldwide economic mess, I would say they deserve to arrested and sentenced to death. Unfortunately, I just have to "wait until the economy improves."
-
Not much, I was broke before & I am broke now!! LOL Seriously, jobs are a little harder to find & prices are higher on most things, but at least gas prices are staying down. I live in Missouri & it hasn't affected this area too badly.
If you want someone to blame, thank the former president.
