Does that mean that although the twins are the same age, one is actually a year ahead of the other?  That's a really confusing situation.  I hope the parents figure it out before the twins get old enough to figure out their predicament!

I guess this can happen every year and can be documented and if I have the time I may have to look it up...

Not really, Dec 31 and Jan 1 are only one day apart, so they will always be "a few minutes different in age".

I guess it happened in a couple of other places as well... I had heard in our news about a Minneapolis couple that had twins the same ways (the newscaster made some quip about it happening in the Twin Cities of all places). So as I was searching for that news story and found instead a story about 3 sets of twins: the FL one, the set in MN, and a third one in Buffalo, NY. Here is the story I found: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/01/03/3-sets-twins-born-in-different-years/ (http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/01/03/3-sets-twins-born-in-different-years/)

It happens every year. Twins born in different decades or centuries would be cool though

Being born in a different year doesn't mean the age difference is always a year.  It will always depend on what day you are asking about the two individuals in question. It is neat to have different birthdays for twins.  However I'd bet they still celebrate on the same day together.  Maybe just rotate the day for each year.
