GOD IS GOOD .....ALL DA TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
The term is vague. What is meant by "god"?
-
Yes, I do.
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (lol)
Once again, ask yourself why you have to "believe" in a deity. If he/she/it really existed, "belief" would be irrelevant.
-
Once again, ask yourself why you have to "believe" in a deity. If he/she/it really existed, "belief" would be irrelevant.
That's a significant point; the existence of a belief is not the same as the existence of the entity/subject believed in.
-
Yes I do!!!!!

I truly believe in God. Those of you that dont believe. Keep living. Just dont die without him. REAL TALK

No, that's your opinion and while you are free to hold it, it has no substantive basis. Both those who are 'believers' and nonbelievers have died. There is no evidence of any benefit of being either as both are just as dead now. The only real difference occurs while living; the former waste their time in self-delusions and the latter do not. Looks like the nonbelievers have a perceptible net gain, (as oppose to a hypothetical one, based upon 'faith').
-
Yes! I believe in GOD
-
Yes I really do! He is good all the time.
-
yessssssssssssss he isssssssssssssssss!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Do I believe in myself yes, now do i believe in a God No do i believe in a being higher than us yes i do. Now before some attack this I'll explain now with myself, I take respond able for how and what i make my life into, i don't blame the one some of u call god or devil. it is the choices u make. Now with why i don't believe in a God is simple i can't believe in a God that say he loves us all no matter what then turn around and say in a bible to kill those who hav sin or worst. Think it like this if the God u call is love and rebirth why would he want us children in his eyes to kill and hate other i think that is someone else. Those who says u doing god work for kill and hate is not ur doing the devil's. Now why i say being higher than us i see it like this we gave him/her the god name, did we ask if we could or not.
Now i hope for our future is people stop thinking that separate differences in race, color, choices, religion, sex, sexual choice. We love and respected others we stop kill each other.

Once you start believing, that is when you stop thinking. Think about it. :notworthy:

If the alternative seems too difficult, some people will opt for the easier way out of thinking/reasoning.

Oh terrific! Another topic for Athiests to wax elegant against people with faith....... ::)

Oh terrific! Another topic for Athiests to wax elegant against people with faith....... ::)
You fundies make it so effortless do so though.
-
God loves us very much and only wants the best for us. He sent His Son so that instead of seeing our sins, He may see His Son when He sees us. We are forgiven for our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ on the cross. We need to stop living in condemnation and accept Jesus into our lives.
-
Oh terrific! Another topic for Athiests to wax elegant against people with faith....... ::)
i agree jedijohnnie ^^
if i hear this correctly these so called non believers will do anything to get there attention heard.. as long as we ignore falcon9 and falcon Jr it will be ok. because all they want is attention....
and pple have rights to believe on what they want...
-
if i hear this correctly these so called non believers will do anything to get there attention heard..
As usual, you don't "hear this correctly" and instead are making speculations of opinion which hold no water.
as long as we ignore falcon9 and falcon Jr it will be ok. because all they want is attention....
This sounds a lot like you being a junior high school girl who "ignore" others while talking about them instead.
and pple have rights to believe on what they want...
No one has stated otherwise. Similarly, others have the freedom to not believe what they do not want to believe.
-
We need to stop living in condemnation and accept Jesus into our lives.
No, the need for reason outweighs a desire for irrationality. Better to have the courage to take responsibility for your life than to palm it off on mythical beliefs.
-
We all choose to believe in what we want to believe but I chose to believe in God. Im sorry for the ones that dont.
-
We all choose to believe in what we want to believe but I chose to believe in God. Im sorry for the ones that dont.
Which means that you either don't believe your 'faith' is irrational, (even though that can be demonstrated), or that you choose to hold irrational beliefs. Your 'pity' is gravely misplaced.
-
YES I BELEIVE IN GOD HE HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR ME WITHOUT HIM WE ARE NOTHING.
-
Which means that you either don't believe your 'faith' is irrational, (even though that can be demonstrated), or that you choose to hold irrational beliefs. Your 'pity' is gravely misplaced.
What is this? You dont make any sense. Oh I truely belive in God. It doesnt matter who agree or dont. There is no point to prove here. My pity is not gravely misplaced(whatever that mean). I hope you find the real truth. God is real and Goood all the time. Dont be mad at me. It will be proven.
-
Yes I beleive in god with all my heart. My Life is a constant reminder how power God is. He has brought me through sum very trying times. When I did not beleive in myself, God beleive in me enough to save me and bless my life. Yayyyy God!!!!!   :star: :star: :star: :star: :star:
-
I know thats right. Give it up for God!!!! I give him the glory.
-
Yes, enfuff said.
-
Which means that you either don't believe your 'faith' is irrational, (even though that can be demonstrated), or that you choose to hold irrational beliefs. Your 'pity' is gravely misplaced.
What is this?
You may be somehat unfamilar with it; it's known as "reason".
You dont make any sense.
Generally, rationality often makes little sense to the irrational.
Oh I truely belive in God. It doesnt matter who agree or dont. There is no point to prove here.
The point raised was whether the choice was intentional irrationality, (as you are demonstrating), or a misplaced belief that 'faith' is somehow rational, (when 'faith/belief' consists of the absence of evidence in what is believed in).
My pity is not gravely misplaced(whatever that mean).
It means that pitying others for not being as irrational as you are is, itself, irrational.
I hope you find the real truth. God is real and Goood all the time. Dont be mad at me. It will be proven.
If you are referring to evidence being provided at some vague and unspecified future point, you folks have had 2012 years of failing to do so.

I know thats right. Give it up for God!!!! I give him the glory.

OMG it's falcon9......and THAT DAMN JUNIOR again! (GOD where's the ROFL emoticon when I need it??)
ignore falcon9 and falcon Jr
uh...yeah, okay....right then! that's already working out well for you !
because all they want is attention....
Soooo....what are you giving them? If you were ignoring them, and didn't give them any attention, your posts would never mention them.
and pple have rights to believe on what they want...
Yes you're right, they do. All PPLE do, and likewise all falcons- big ones, small ones, 9s and juniors (damn juniors)....
All have the right to believe ON what they want.

Yes I believe in God.
Being a man of logic with little regard for emotional considerations I was left with no other choice based upon my observations, experiences, and reasoning. It is a good thing for the rest of you that I do believe because logic would dictate 'sinister' pursuits if I were an atheist. Without religion there is no 'good' and all you are left with is "'beneficial to the individual" and that is a dire scenario for those possessing wisdom enough to see it through.
I don't laugh at you 'atheists' , but am instead puzzled by you. You claim to be one thing yet you live like another. In your world that should be full of unlimited pursuits you choose to live as the most lowly and cowardly bottom-feeder imaginable, seemingly without dreams or ambitions or any understandings of the freedoms that should be blatantly obvious to your stance. How can you bring up logic and rationality when you do not even to apply it to yourself and you seem entirely oblivious to the obvious omissions you are making? It is pure foolishness -- not that you do believe as I do, but that you believe as you do but live much the same as I do.
-
Without religion there is no 'good'
This may be your belief, but it is patently false. As a man who claims to appreciate logic, you've made an error here.
In your world that should be full of unlimited pursuits you choose to live as the most lowly and cowardly bottom-feeder imaginable, seemingly without dreams or ambitions or any understandings of the freedoms that should be blatantly obvious to your stance.
Bringing the audience up to speed: Abrupt feels that atheists should be raping, murdering thieves, otherwise they're not worthy of the title. lulz
It is pure foolishness -- not that you do believe as I do, but that you believe as you do but live much the same as I do.
On the contary, it is actually the other way around. Believers who live similarly to nonbelievers do so because they don't take their faith hook, line and sinker. ;)
-
Yes I believe in God.
That is an opinion, there is no evidence consisting of valid attributions to support it.
Being a man of logic with little regard for emotional considerations I was left with no other choice based upon my observations, experiences, and reasoning.
How is claiming to be logical while maintaining an illogical 'belief' rational? Are you implicitly suggesting that 'belief' is logical?
Without religion there is no 'good' and all you are left with is "'beneficial to the individual"
Your assumption is invalidated by reason; "good" is possible without religion and "bad" is entirely possible with it. Self-centeredness or selflessness are also possible with or without religion therefore, religion either has less impact than asserted or, religious adherents are hypocrits.
I don't laugh at you 'atheists' , but am instead puzzled by you. You claim to be one thing yet you live like another.
What other thing than claimed? Deciding not to believe in unsubstantiated religious claims and then attending church or, what?
In your world that should be full of unlimited pursuits you choose to live as the most lowly and cowardly bottom-feeder imaginable ...
How would you know what others are pursuing before throwing out childish insults? This is from "a man of logic"? No, it's the lowest form of bottomfeeding argumentation demonstrated thusfar. The gunpowder residue on your shoe is from a self-inflicted wound.
How can you bring up logic and rationality when you do not even to apply it to yourself and you seem entirely oblivious to the obvious omissions you are making?
Wow, the sheer monumental hypocrisy of your false assertion is astounding. Let's turn that back around and inquire as to how you can bring up logic and rationality while claiming a preposterously illogical and irrational 'belief'?
It is pure foolishness -- not that you do believe as I do, but that you believe as you do but live much the same as I do.
Speaking for how I live, no illogical religious beliefs alter how I live. You cannot make the same claim therefore, I do not live much the same as you do. Your unsupported arguments fall to the wayside yet again.
-
Bringing the audience up to speed: Abrupt feels that atheists should be raping, murdering thieves, otherwise they're not worthy of the title. lulz
Indeed. What of all those 'xtian' rapists, murderers and thieves in and out of prison? Perhaps "Abrupt" lacks the internal fortitude to be ethical without such ethics being externally, (and artifically), imposed?
-

Indeed. What of all those 'xtian' rapists, murderers and thieves in and out of prison? Perhaps "Abrupt" lacks the internal fortitude to be ethical without such ethics being externally, (and artifically), imposed?
Why would I want to be ethical? I would be the king of my world and I would certainly strike down all that opposed me or didn't serve my ends. The greatest tyrants in history would pale beside the pursuits I would undertake. I would be the alpha wolf and be damned anyone or anything else and survival of the fittest would take on a whole new meaning.
Are you seriously saying you would play a video game and actively elect to be the assistant to a shopkeeper? Me I would bash the shopkeepers skull in at the first opportunity in such a game and then set traps to slay my customers. After that there is the city and many adventures beyond.
Seriously as sinister and vile as my description might sound to you this is honestly how I would be without my faith (I didn't always have my faith either and I have done some terrible things indeed that shall not be revealed here). Now you should seriously consider what I have said for if someone such as me 'saw the light' by no persuasion from anyone or any human laws or sentiments, and yet you live entirely blind to what you claim to be (making foolish and irrational statements like 'ethics' and "internal fortitude" , then what else are you blind to?
-
GOD IS GOOD .....ALL DA TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes I do believe in God.
-
Why would I want to be ethical?
Why do you need an externally-imposed sense of ethics? Too weak to abide by an internal one?
I would be the king of my world and I would certainly strike down all that opposed me or didn't serve my ends.
What makes you think such unethical practices would go unopposed or, that you wouldn't be struck down?
Are you seriously saying you would play a video game and actively elect to be the assistant to a shopkeeper? Me I would bash the shopkeepers skull in at the first opportunity in such a game and then set traps to slay my customers. After that there is the city and many adventures beyond.
The parallel is invalid. In most games, one does not start 'at the top' but, works from the novice levels up. Your professions of immature hypothetical behavour nothwithstanding.
Seriously as sinister and vile as my description might sound to you this is honestly how I would be without my faith ...
Then you are weak enough to require restraint.
and yet you live entirely blind to what you claim to be (making foolish and irrational statements like 'ethics' and "internal fortitude" ...
Your empty assertions remain so. The "ethics" being discussed were internal and external; there is nothing inherently irrational about such a discussion unless you are referring to your position.
then what else are you blind to?
The conclusion is false because the premise you've based it upon is false. As to 'blindness', they don't characterize it as "blind faith" for nothing.

I feel that God loves us all weather we believe or not. And yes I love god and know that the goodness inside of me comes from my Father and Mother. (I am a Gnostic Christian)

Absolutely. If it wasn't for God, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have been given the gift of raising 3 beautiful children. I wouldn't be able to enjoy all the wonderful smells and sights he's provided for us. God is Amazing!

There seems to be a lack of evidence to support these claimed attibutions. Got any or, are they just speculative opinions?
-
I feel that God loves us all weather we believe or not.
That doesn't follow since, if some do not believe in the existence of such a deity, (and there is no validly-attributible evidence of one), then there isn't one to dispense 'love' or anything else.
(I am a Gnostic Christian)
Interesting. Any access to translations of the Dead Sea scrolls?
-
(I am a Gnostic Christian)
You better check yourself before you wreck yourself! Do you know what 'gnostic' means?
It means you are claiming to have knowledge of something; i.e. you "know" god is real based on actual facts, not beliefs.
Any honest Christian is an AGNOSTIC Christian.

Without religion there is no 'good'
This may be your belief, but it is patently false. As a man who claims to appreciate logic, you've made an error here.
Without an ultimate judge as to the good of an action the action could never be considered good. To qualify something as good it must persist permanently as such and not be subjective. Without the implications of religion (actually I suppose a religion based upon an eternal deity) there is no eternal decision of an action and thus it cannot be good. You can try to use a consensus decision about whether something is good or not but this is subjective and volatile and has no weight. In fact such a consensus can often be proven as both good and not good. Good for one is often bad for another. In the various cultures and religions and regions of the Earth there are many contradicting classifications of what is or isn't good. Realizing such one has no choice but to face the truth that word is useless except in a case where it is permanent and ultimate and such is not in the realm of men to be capable of deciding.
In your world that should be full of unlimited pursuits you choose to live as the most lowly and cowardly bottom-feeder imaginable, seemingly without dreams or ambitions or any understandings of the freedoms that should be blatantly obvious to your stance.
Bringing the audience up to speed: Abrupt feels that atheists should be raping, murdering thieves, otherwise they're not worthy of the title. lulz
I never said they should be "raping, murdering thieves" and I find it odd your inclination is to use emotional base imagery. The atheist should be quiet about who they are and should approach life as a hunter would its prey. There is no ill will or intentions of the atheist, it is all purely to enjoy this fleeting existence to the best that is possible. Even endurance should be second place to enjoyment as that is the only stimuli that would qualify as having any value (even though it is ultimately an illusion itself). No action committed by the atheist would subject to any judgement, except by them. The greatest human threat to the atheist (in a stable environment) would indeed by another atheist, the least threat would be a devoutly religious person (since the religious would be obvious and predictable).
It is pure foolishness -- not that you do believe as I do, but that you believe as you do but live much the same as I do.
On the contary, it is actually the other way around. Believers who live similarly to nonbelievers do so because they don't take their faith hook, line and sinker. ;)
If you are unbound by religion why do you struggle so in life? You want money why don't you claim what is yours by right of will? Why choose to be as sheep among people when you describe yourself as a wolf?
-
Why would I want to be ethical?
Because human animals only act for 2 reasons: either to gain pleasure, or to avoid pain. Unless you're a sociopath, for most people, it would bring emotional PAIN to harm others in an extreme way. And even if you are a sociopath, the chances of the PAIN of the event outweighing the pleasure is statistically likely when you get your *bleep* carted off to jail and lose all of that "freedom" you speak of.
The greatest tyrants in history would pale beside the pursuits I would undertake.
Overconfident much? You are forgetting that certain conditions need to exist for you to even have a chance of "ruling over others", and a person who writes for $3 per month on a forum is probably in the furthest position away from power that one could be.
Are you seriously saying you would play a video game and actively elect to be the assistant to a shopkeeper? Me I would bash the shopkeepers skull in at the first opportunity in such a game and then set traps to slay my customers.
A video game is hardly a comparison to real life. Plenty of people enjoy doing exactly what you speak of, under the condition that the situation isn't real. They aren't real people with whole lives and families that you're polishing off, they are figments of fantasy.
-
Yes, I do. Question is do you believe in tomorrow, if you do than believe there is a God, because he woke you up this morning. No alarm clock did that or someone waking you up, God touched you with the finger of life and that is why you are here. BELEIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Question is do you believe in tomorrow, if you do than believe there is a God, because he woke you up this morning.
No, our cat stood on my chest to wake me by mewing for breakfast. Wait, are you suggesting that my cat is a "god", (throwback to the ancient Aegyptian neteru)?
No alarm clock did that or someone waking you up, God touched you with the finger of life and that is why you are here. BELEIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I resisted the temptation to respond to "god touched you with the finger" part at first and will just mention the false attribution bit, (a fabricated cause and effect is one that lacks supporting evidence, like "god" giving someone the finger).
-
Yes, I believe there is an intelligent creator, but I don't believe in any christian dogma.

Yes, I do.

How can one not believe in one's self? lol j/k. but in all actuality yes i do believe in god. i dont see any other way the universe could exist without some sort of catalyst.

GOD IS GOOD .....ALL DA TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes I believe in GOD hes # 1 for me and my family.
-
100%. all the time, heart, mind, body and soul.
-
Yes, I believe in GOD. Someone once ask me why I would believe in someone that I couldn't see. I asked them, do you believe the brisk breeze we feel is wind? They replied yes, I then asked them, why would you believe in something that you cannot see.
-
Yes, I believe in GOD. Someone once ask me why I would believe in someone that I couldn't see. I asked them, do you believe the brisk breeze we feel is wind? They replied yes, I then asked them, why would you believe in something that you cannot see.
The analogy is demonstrably false. The wind is measurable, (not just unseen and felt/detected). There have no similarly measurable/detectable deities to date.

Without an ultimate judge as to the good of an action the action could never be considered good.
No. An action is not good or bad because god "says so"; it could only be good or bad for some ultimate, unchanging reason, and that type of morality doesn't exist. Religious morality isn't dependent on actual reasons why something is right or wrong, it's dependent on the whims of a supernatural entity. And don't even try to tell me that your god doesn't change his mind, because that would be demonstrably false when referencing your holy book.
I never said they should be "raping, murdering thieves" and I find it odd your inclination is to use emotional base imagery.
And yet you are quick to say how, as an atheist, you would be "worse than any tyrant in history"...how is that not "emotional base imagery"? My statement was an interpretation of your opinions.
it is all purely to enjoy this fleeting existence to the best that is possible.
Finally, an assumption you haven't fabricated. This holds true for at least me.
No action committed by the atheist would subject to any judgement, except by them.
Yes, because atheists are all hermits who live on deserted islands and never have to interact with another human being, ever. ::) Do you see the fallacy in what you are saying?
The greatest human threat to the atheist (in a stable environment) would indeed by another atheist, the least threat would be a devoutly religious person (since the religious would be obvious and predictable).
Interesting. I suppose I should keep one eye open when sleeping in bed next to my atheist husband then, huh? And religious people are far from predictable. One cannot always tell how far off the deep end a religious person is, because each individual crafts their own godly guidelines to abide by.
If you are unbound by religion why do you struggle so in life?
Why in the world would you assume someone you've never met is struggling? You know nothing about the real lives of anyone on here, atheist or not.
You want money why don't you claim what is yours by right of will? Why choose to be as sheep among people when you describe yourself as a wolf?
The only money that is mine is the money I earn, win, or share. And you are the one labeling people as wolves (when the label instead should be yours and yours alone).

And even if you are a sociopath, the chances of the PAIN of the event outweighing the pleasure is statistically likely when you get your *bleep* carted off to jail and lose all of that "freedom" you speak of.
In many societies they have no problems harming others. These things generally stem from the society (e.g. consider how Americans tend to treat animals compared to much of the rest of the world). Ethics though are not limited to the violent intent you indicate here, and even it it were it would not qualify as these are typically "learned sentiments" and not innate to the human animal (the seek pleasure and avoid pain is though, but not with the particular definition you gave above). Not sure what statistics you are looking at, but the ones I see seem to suggest that more people get away with being unethical than not, and regardless, with proper planning and execution such risks can reliably be muted.
I am no sociopath though. I also have a weak spot for suffering and cannot stand to see it in others (whether innate or learned I do not know but I would not be unethical in the brutish way you seem to consider.
The greatest tyrants in history would pale beside the pursuits I would undertake.
Overconfident much? You are forgetting that certain conditions need to exist for you to even have a chance of "ruling over others", and a person who writes for $3 per month on a forum is probably in the furthest position away from power that one could be.
I do often find myself being overconfident and have experienced both success and failure from it. I haven't factored in any win/loss percents though to judge whether I would be better off to temper my confidence or not. Don't mistake my deceleration of intent to indicate my degree of success in such pursuits, I am simply telling you how I would approach the situation if I knew that my actions carried no penalties. Do you really see yourself in the low light as you ascribe to "a person who writes for $3 per month on a forum"? I honestly see it as a quality -- a measure of the degree I will go to in order to pursue a goal. Where you seem to suggest impotence I see it as dedication and perseverance.
There is no difference in the reality of the video game and the reality the true atheist should experience. Neither one of them is any more or less real when considering one couldn't measure a difference in their persistence over the spam of existence. You are talking like you fail to realize that they both have a permanent end (according to your atheist view that is). I suppose you could only think you are an atheist though, much like the many people that attend church who think they are Christians. I honestly think you are anti-religious and ascribe your 'faith' of atheism that you don't even seem to truly believe in yourself. This is the reason I get so annoyed with atheist claiming "logic and reason" and here your arguments to me are based entirely on emotion and sentiment. I honestly don't care what you believe, but when you ridicule and attack my beliefs, you had better take your own inventory first.
-

You have said nothing here, except to agree with me indirectly and further contend that even an eternal being couldn't decide this. Are you now changing your argument to claim there is no such thing ever as 'good'?
I never said they should be "raping, murdering thieves" and I find it odd your inclination is to use emotional base imagery.
And yet you are quick to say how, as an atheist, you would be "worse than any tyrant in history"...how is that not "emotional base imagery"? My statement was an interpretation of your opinions.
I suppose this depends on how we qualify a 'tyrant'. To you that may simply be a pathetic rapist or murder or some other lowly thug. To me a tyrant is one who seeks dominion and rule and control over others. The imagery I invoke within myself when I say things like "worse than any tyrant in history" is actually a policy of control where the subjects voluntarily seek my rule (out of their own ignorance). A good example of such a malicious and sinister method would be the healthcare bill passed by congress and signed into law by the President. That is they type of tyranny I would attempt. There would also be other measures of control where you gain power by getting others to perceive threats. It is the old foolish trade off of "some of your freedom for my guarantee of your safety" that people have always so easily fallen for. I am no artist at this and I know my declaration had a grand flare to it but that is the type of controls I would pursue (or hope I would be capable of devising, if that is I were an atheist).
it is all purely to enjoy this fleeting existence to the best that is possible.
Finally, an assumption you haven't fabricated. This holds true for at least me.
What the heck is a fabricated assumption? That doesn't even make sense, except in the form of some sort of testing analysis perhaps.
No action committed by the atheist would subject to any judgement, except by them.
Yes, because atheists are all hermits who live on deserted islands and never have to interact with another human being, ever. ::) Do you see the fallacy in what you are saying?
The fallacy is your own, actually. The atheist does not (or should not) value the opinions of others as doing so makes you a subject to the other and that doesn't fit well within the atheist dogma. Well I suppose you could align yourself beneath a more powerful individual in order to gain, but you would never do this simply to be submissive to others. You seem to think that an atheist should be sensitive to the wishes of others and that is not logical at all.
I don't know about your husband, but I already told you that I think "you only think" you are an atheist. That is why I consider you a quasi atheist type. If you were both true atheists, though, I would stand by my warning and I would elaborate but fear it would fall on deaf ears. I will agree with you that the predictability of religious people cannot be certain and at times can be extreme or erratic, but this is never more than the amount that an unknown would be. It is always better to have a partial blueprint than a complete mystery.
If you are unbound by religion why do you struggle so in life?
Why in the world would you assume someone you've never met is struggling? You know nothing about the real lives of anyone on here, atheist or not.
I don't use the word 'struggle' as you seem to use it (I think you think of it in a financial way or something but this is only speculation). I said you were struggling because you waste effort here belaboring when it would never be something that a true atheist would do (I suppose one might, if it were a stepping stone to a greater pursuit, but then they would never go about it claiming to be an atheist in the first place and would likely only use it to gain a knowledge of something they find beneficial).
You want money why don't you claim what is yours by right of will? Why choose to be as sheep among people when you describe yourself as a wolf?
The only money that is mine is the money I earn, win, or share. And you are the one labeling people as wolves (when the label instead should be yours and yours alone).
You sure don't sound like an atheist using words like 'earn' and 'share'. Everything belongs to the atheist because sheep can't own things. I do not hide the fact that I am a wolf by nature, but a sheep in Christ. I was never an atheist but I was an agnostic and as an agnostic I was infinitely more of an atheist as the atheist you claim to be. Realize that my discussion with you isn't to throw ill will your way, but perhaps to throw a wrench in your cogs. You seem to enjoy making your negative and mocking remarks at my faith and seem to consider yourself some expert on the truth it of when you haven't even begun to consider the depths of what you claim you are. I would normally say do some soul searching but that would have no meaning to you so all I can say is what I did earlier and that is that you take your own inventory first before you try to take mine.

I find it hard to believe in a fable. I know that people want to believe that there is more to life and death. But when the end comes, it's over.

That want ultimately stems from fear.
But when the end comes, it's over.
Physical life is certainly over when the body dies. Anything beyond that, (either way), is speculative.

yes very much so

yes very much so
What descriptive characteristics of such a 'deity', exactly do you 'believe' in?
-
Yes. I believe in God. Thanks for asking.
Jesus is my Lord & Savior & Im proud of it! :angel11:

Yes. I believe in God.
Why?
-
I do. At the very least I use it as Good Orderly Direction. (cliche acronym)
I don't believe in a man in the clouds, or the story of Jesus. I don't believe if I pray for something it will happen. I don't have any proof a God exists and I also know that I'm probably wrong. I don't believe God created human beings. I do believe in science and evolution. The concept of heaven and hell amuses me and there are so many holes in what happens in heaven. (example, how old are you when you get there?)
But I have to admit that against all logic, I still can't help believe there is a higher power. In the end, it just could be complete narcissism that I must create some significant reason that I am on Earth and that there must be some big meaning to my existence.

Healthy skepticism in the face of irrationality is good.

Conversely, it may be that it's up to each person to create their own meaning, (or not), rather than impute it to the 'invisible pink unicorn'.

Yes I can correspond to this post and say," My God is truly Good all the time."

Your misuse of the term, "correspond" smacks of ignorance. The other assertion is a vague and unsupported claim.

GOD IS GOOD .....ALL DA TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although this may have been stated many times in this thread, but the Bible gives me a completely different impression of Yaweh.

Indeed, one that frequently indulges in genocide.
-
Yup, lots of them. ;)
-
Yes...I believe in a God who is very much like a functional father. I believe He loves us all as he is the creator of our spirits. My belief is great for me because it helps me connect with the energy of LOVE.
If a belief is positive and healthy...how can it possible be wrong?
I'm unable to prove that my belief is "right" because everyone is entitled to their own point of view.
Different strokes for different folks...
-
I believe there is a God. Religion is a man made thing and creates division.

What a bummer for any followers of such a conception.

Are any that we may not have heard of before?

Though it's something I question back and forth, I ultimately end up not believing in God.

It's useful to question assumptions, (whether they're yours or, another's). What caused you to not believe?
-
Yes I do, God is just the term for the Higher being that gives us hope, free spirit and makes us feel good. You could call him whatever you want, but he exist and rule us, give us FREE WILL to do and believe whatever and whomever we want.
-
I do believe in God. I wasn't so sure until I went through a really tough time. I turned to my church and felt a change, now He's in me and with me.

So, it's like a daemonic possession?

WOW! What a question - I just read the book "HEAVEN IS FOR REAL" believe me if you read this you will believe.

Er, no. A four-year old exposed to repeated religious brain-washing from his 'pastor' father provides extremely dubious evidence.
-
The book is true. What could a Pastor possibly gain by making it up? Besides a ton of cash and less resistance to his teachings? Other than that, what motivation could he have to make it up?

Well, the kid may grow up to be a fundie serial killer in the name of his "god" so, there's always another potential book deal.

For me, it is mixed. God is a term describing what people thought of to rule something. IE Zeus to rule the sky, Poseidon to rule the ocean. And the catholic god is to rule over mankind. I personally believe in God but also believe in the astronaut theory. That is (and don't mock me) aliens came here from outer space and colonized the earth. Being more advanced than us, the natives might of thought of them as gods and history went on.

They made a cool TV show about that, and I'm not talking about Anceint Aliens.
In all honest, the chance that aliens colonized Earth is better than a divine being, (especially a divine being as the bible describes it.) But in either retrospects, there isn't any obvious evidence to any theory partaining Intellegent Design. Whether it be a divine being, or technologically advanced beings (which in all retrospects, there isn't a thick line between the two.)

While there is insufficient evidence to make an accurate determination as to human origins, "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" - A. C. Clark

Just what I was thinking, except worded a lot better. I've gotta write that quote down.

Yes I do. He is the maker of the earth and creator of all people on earth. I cherish my God. He is great all the time.

The asserted claim is not factual due to lack of evidence and is, instead, an unsubstantiated belief.
