I CAN FEEL IT COMING AND I DONT LIKE VERY MUCH.
-
What is getting old? To me a number is just a number. As long as I continue to feel young then aging is of no importance it just means continuing to learn and getting smarter (hopefully) lol
-
Well I'm not going to get old in "spirit" so I'm consistent with getting older in age. As long as eat right, stay positive and exercise I'll be good. There is no point in disliking getting older when its going to happen regardless.
-
It absolutely sucks! I hate it. I think about things that happened and all of a sudden I realize that is was 25 years ago! I look at famous people on TV that I have not seen in a long time and most of the time I am shocked at how they look. Time is cruel. I wish I was more accepting of it, but I am not. lol
-
Getting old is good in a sense. You become wiser and more mature.
-
don't like it either there was a woman astronaut on tv giving an interview a way back and her face was just wrinkled to death didn't matter if she found life on mars i was just going damn look at those wrinkles. some older folks do very well my uncle was active till 85 i'm 53 or see lying 54 and have trouble walking and see getting tired just typing this so bye
-
Getting old is more than a number. It's our bodies deterriating. I just say that no matter how old the number gets as long as you're alive act like it. I hate when people get a certain age and then act like they're dead already.
-
Beats the heck out of the alternative....I just turned 70 on saturday. I've had both knees and both hips replaced. I have no more arthritis pain and you can't tell I've had anything done when I walk. My dad was still falling timber at 70. He died when he was almost 91 and my mother died at almost 92. I have friends about my age that keep harping about feeling old. I have no intention of acting like that. My hair is starting to get a little gray and I wear glasses. Other than that I feel great. :notworthy:
-
I would feel better about getting old if the neighbors next door would move out, but it looks like I am going to have to move which sucks.
-
Everyone ages and so there is no need to sweat it. I just am thankful I have another birthday to experience.
-
As my husband says, "It beats the alternative." Sometimes, though, I look back and realize I am happy to be where I am now. I would not like to have to go through some of the stages of my life when I was younger and stupid. I am retired and have a wonderful husband, daughter, son-in-law, and the smartest and cutest four-year-old grandson in the world. Through all the aches and pains and wrinkles of old age, I have a family to love and who loves me, and that is the greatest feeling ever.
-
I do not like getting old physically at all. I really have a hard time adjusting to gray hair. I don't mind being mentally older though.
-
Well I can tell you that my golden years are starting to look abit rusty. Not what I thought they'd be. To many aches and pains.
-
Like they say " age is only a number". I feel very fortunate and blessed to have lived as long as I have. I still am pretty active at 74, with volunteering, playing piano, singing in a women's choir and of course the housework!!
-

Amen! Beats the alternative!
-
Has anyone figured out another option? As long as it's going to happen anyway, why not just roll with it?
-
Find someone much older. That way you will always feel young...lol
-
Mentally I still feel 21, but physically I feel 68. Im only 48. I do have health problems, so keeping to two together is complicated. :dontknow:
-
If it weren't for the aches and pains, it would be okay.
-
I am definitely not growing old gracefully - whatever that means.
-
I don't want to.
-
im 58 and it doesnt bother me
-
;)Am eagerly awaiting my senior citizen status and getting wiser ;D
-
I used to never worry about it but now that I am in my forties, it is on my mind.
-
Dont like forgetting things and body aches.
-
i don't feel good about it and i'm only 23 years old. if i had my life some what together i would probably be okay with getting older
-
I feel great at 36, just don't like the wrinkles I'm getting around my eyes.
I certainly feel more mature and wiser, just don't want to look it!
-
I don't think anyone likes to get old. But that does not mean we cannot still do the things we like to do. Including sex. LOL.
-
It takes longer to get started in the morning back is a little sore and other parts are sore also.
-
It used to be something that really bothered me but I have come to the conclusion that age is just a number. It all depends on how you feel! Staying active and being healthy makes me feel younger!
-
Getting older is definitely strange, so I have a love/hate with it. Too many pros/cons to go into, but overall it's good to be alive today. :peace:
-
I'm 33 and I really thought (back in my 20s) that the thirties were the beginning of the end. I have REALLY enjoyed the last few years. I am a firm believer you get out of life what you put into it, and that you are only as old as you feel. I feel 21 :D
-
I don't know if I will ever like about getting old, but sure take a lot of time to get used to being old!!
-
I don't exactly enjoy it, but it's a fact of life. It simply is what it is. It's not horrible, but it's not something I'm happy about. I guess I'm kind of indifferent - but I wouldn't want to stop aging, either. That would be unnatural.
-
It absolutely sucks! I hate it. I think about things that happened and all of a sudden I realize that is was 25 years ago! I look at famous people on TV that I have not seen in a long time and most of the time I am shocked at how they look. Time is cruel. I wish I was more accepting of it, but I am not. lol
I agree with you 100%.
So for us, eat right, exercise, take quality organic vitamins and colloidal minerals, south-spin all our fluids (ala David Kaas Farm Physics: A New Cure and More!), Keep the structure in shape by chiropractic, AtlasProfilax, and/or NCR (neurocranial restructuring), stay away from drugs (illegal AND pHARMaceutical), stay away from vaccines, no artificial foods, sweeteners, oils, etc..., detox regularily, hit the lasers when needed, etc... And well you get the drift.
-
Well I do not like it but we have no choice cause it is going to happen anyway. I am trying to keep my health up with doctor visits and eating right and trying to be in a open mood to all ideas cause as we age wisdom sets in. I am 53 and by far feel 40,so lets all have a good open mind on getting older and see it as teh cycle of life that cannot be stoped.
-
I try not to think about getting old, cause not being young any more I would be sad! :'(
-
I will feel blessed to be in my eighties. I am 45 now so if I do make it to see my 80's I will be very happy.
-
I feel it coming as aches and pains become moe a way of life and the mid-life paunche sets in due to a slower metabolism. I am forty-eight and I think that the average life expectancy is around seventy-five which means my glass is half empty! I have renewed youth through my two kids and dogs but find myself working more so that I can afford a day off with them! Anyways I try to live for today and make the best of not being six feet under. Relish the little things. I figure I still have thirty good years left in me and I will probably be working till the day that I expire! I am more keyed on the happiness of my family and their financial well-being. College is a few years down the road and I will just be happy to attend the graduation ceremonies of both kids!
-
Depends on what you call getting old! Like they say age is just a number, so don't let it bother you. Just keep active and eat healthy!
-
I hate being old but it does beat the alternative and I am fairly healthy and active so I just need to forget it and keep on keeping on.
-
I think that I am already considered old by society. I am 66 years old going on 67. I am really enjoying life and having more fun than I have ever had.
But it is difficult to get old. Your body changes. You develop health issues that interfere with your quality of life. Family is dead and so are friends.
Either you get old or you die. There are no alternatives. So make up your mind to go with the flow and enjoy it. Remember that you are not doing it alone. Everyone is getting old with you.
-
I did okay until this year I am 53 feels like my body is falling apart ::)
-
It is just a number.........a BIG number....HA HA HA. As my Mom and Dad say "Old age ain't for sissies!" They are just entering their 80's. Just keep moving........don't let the aches and pains get you down, just keep moving. I would like to be younger body wise but stay the same maturity and wisdom wise. But the worse thing I see people do is think they can't do anything anymore because of their age and they stop moving.....keep moving...it will keep you younger longer. :dontknow:
-
:cat: Getting older takes a toll on you physically but I wouldn't trade the maturity and wisdom that comes with it for nothing!
-
Other than a few aches and pains now and then, I don't think about it much. I have earned every wrinkle on this beautiful face, my status symbols. Each day is a different experience and I always have fun. Enjoying life everyday doesn't give me much time to think about age. Age is a state of mind, anyway! Live each day to your fullest!
-
:)getting old is a part of life and you cannot avoud it unless you die first. Some people focus on age; as long as i am feeling good and my health is okay I am not worried about a number. I know pople who are 65 and get around better than people who are 30 or even younger. Good health really doesnt have a age; so i think that is more important than worrying about a number
-
It starts from the day we are born and we know that eventually we will die. Until that time comes... I plan on living :)
-
I CAN FEEL IT COMING AND I DONT LIKE VERY MUCH.
It doesn't really bother me...I just don't wanna get old ALONE and be Lonely for the rest of my life....I would love to have someone to share the rest of my life with of course someone who loves me unconditionally and I the same with him :star:
-
Age is a number - My mom is 80 years old and still works full time cleaning apartments. She says it keeps her young.
-
I feel more mature and wiser as I age.
-
Well have always thought of it just as a number!! But I have had some health issuses the past few wekks & am quickly finding out that I do not bounce back as quickly as when I was younger!! :( :(
-
a few years ago, didn't much matter to me. Thought I could grow old gracefully. Not so. I am still in pretty good health, but needing some tune ups that I am not much looking forward to. I don't care to much for having watch my diet. for example caffiene now bothers me while trying to sleep. Doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but wait until you are tired from a poor nights rest. What I am saying is if a person could grow old without major problems then great all for it. Does not seem to be the case for people in my family. We are good for along time and then just that fast we are not.
-
I don't know what age you consider old, but I thank the Lord for everyday I awake and have two legs, arms, eyes a to see, thank you lord for letting me see another day. I don't like it but we live to get old, my children are grown and I am a grandmother and loving it.
-
I don't like it at all. I am hitting a rather milestone bday this year and am not to trilled.
-
I am not old but my father and grandfather are. They have a habit of asking me things on repeat and I hate it to my core. My aunt says not to take it like that they may be coming down with altimeters wow I hate to be asked the same thing over and over. :icon_rr:
-
What do mean getting?? I'm there already, babe. I turn 65 in March ( They already sent me my Medicare card) I don't mind it much, I slim strong and excercise (cardio and weight training) 5 or 6 days a week, and have for years. No major health issues yet, good blood pressure and sugar levels and no prescription drugs. I live and eat in a healthy way and I'm always researching the latest health topics. Health for me is way of life. I wish all older people the same vitality I have. But I tell you, it takes work and knowledge...so empower yourself!
-
altimeters... too funny. I used to think 30 was old. Then when I turned 32 I thought 40 was old. At forty, I ran from 50. At 50 I finally said WTF, I gotta start counting back down to keep up. Now I'm only 45 and still counting back down. I'm starting to feel like we start living at 65, when we know everything from experience, and then go back a year at a time and use that experience to make the best decisions in our earlier years. Just think.... Babies would be the most enlightened minds of all time then. Wait a minute, sometimes I think that's the way they are now!..... ??? :dontknow: :o
-
At 32 all I can think of is what I USED to do when I was in my 20's
-
I'm not that old but I feel older than I should. I need to just take better care of myself. My birthday is in a month so I don't want to feel old, I want to enjoy my day..I think i'll enjoy it anyway :)
-
Getting old has been very weird for me. I too think about what happened 20 to 25 years ago and it doesn't seem that long ago. I was always told that time fly's but never really experienced it the way that I do now that I am getting closer to 40.
-
Absolutely hate it!!! The body doesn't look or feel the same and most likely you can't do the same things you could when you are younger.
-
eh-I used to hate the idea of it-but that was mainly because my youth was so great-I hated getting further away from it. This last birthday I have come to appreciate all my years and time on earth and those I get to enjoy it all with.
-
i dont like much but u can deny is natural ...just enjoy ur life .... ;D :)
-
It is just a number..I am 37 and do not feel like it one bit..I do not worry about growing old it is gonna happen so I will make the best of it..Look at it in a positive manner and smile..It is what ya make it I think ;D
-
when i turned 30 i felt depressed because i was getting old , but now it dosent bother me just excepted it and i am going to be 43 this year
-
OMG, I remember when my mother was 42 yrs old, now I am passed 42 :crybaby2: time passes so fast !
-
I'm 41 now, turning 42 this summer, and I'm in WAY better shape now than I was as a teenager or in college. Definitely healthy eating and exercise is crucial. I started my upward trend as I was graduating college - a roommate got me into ballroom dancing my last year, and I kept that up for nearly a decade. Competed at the collegiate and amateur levels - even made it to nationals once - sooo cool.
Then I got into rock climbing with work friends in my late 20's/early 30's. Then after my ballroom days started waning due to my partners all moving on with life, I took up figure skating in my 30's. I'm still figure skating now working on my single jumps. My goal is to get good enough to a least be able to do an Axel and a double jump or two. Granted, my recovery isn't as fast as it was in my 20's, but if I need to stretch 5 days a week vs 3 - so be it. Go in for regular massages to keep my muscles relaxed...well...okay, if you insist... ;D Most of my aches and pains come from my occasional spills on the ice - so I have my trusted chiropractor on speed dial to "snap" be back together.
Sometimes I think what happens when people get older is they completely forget to take care of themselves. The older we get, the more "maintenance" we need to keep running. In general, people seem to understand this concept when trying to keep their cars and other machines running -are diligent about changing oil, greasing the gears, taking them in for "check-ups". Same thing with their pets - if the vet says their cat needs a special diet or their dog needs more exercise - they move heaven and earth to make it happen for them. But when it comes to themselves - it's just "too hard". Why is that?
I have great role models in my grandmothers - one turned 100 last fall and still lives on her own - although she does have people stop by to help her with reading mail and cooking, the other one is turning 99 this fall (we're hoping she hits 100 too) - so I know I come from good gene stock - so I'm planning to keep going way past 100. There's just way too much world for me to explore before I leave this planet (unless it's leaving for a space mission to Mars), so I need to keep myself fit enough to enjoy the adventure.
I remembered someone posted an article about Ernestine Shepherd - a 70+ year old body builder, and found this current article about her. She started working out in her 50's and now in her 70's she looks awesome. Just shows, you are never too old to start doing something to improve your health. I sure hope I can look even half that good at her age! Enjoy the updated read if you are interested:

It's not so much the number thing, it's not being able to do the things I use to. I stay active but there are things my body groans about when I do them. The older I get the more I strive to do all my dreams. I don't when do die never having lived.
-
Getting old is no fun. Reality starts to set in when you have joint pain and go to bed early. I am grateful to be getting old. So many people did not make it to the new year. Some people will not make to February. Aging is a right of passage. ;D
-
What is old? I am 74 and just starting to feel alive!!
-
It scares me :( I'm not really old now, but I'm making my way up there slowly, but surely. Although, when I think about being just a baby, those 18 years sure flew by fast!
-
Unfortunately, noone can stop the passage of time. It's what we do with that time that's important. Nothing worse than looking back on your life only to discover that there have been so many missed opportunities and regrets. We don't get a second chance. Mentally we all (at least I do) feel YEARS younger in spirit. I don't think that ever changes. Maybe a few (OK a lot), more wrinkles and grey hair, but hopefully a lot wiser. And, yes, it does beat the alternative. Live each day to the full, enjoy life and all it has to offer
-
I AGREE AGE IS JUST A NUMBER! YOU ARE AS OLD AS YOU FEEL INSIDE. I JUST TURNED 40 AND SOME TIMES I DONT FEEL GROWN UP AT ALL. SOME TIMES I DONT EVEN ACT IT. HAVE FUN, MAKE FUN JUST BE FUN. IT WILL KEEP YOU YOUNG! WHATS OLD ANY WAY?
-
I hate that I did not take better care of my health when I was younger, but I love the Lord and appreicate my blessings daily in spite of my foolish youth.
-
What is getting old? To me a number is just a number. As long as I continue to feel young then aging is of no importance it just means continuing to learn and getting smarter (hopefully) lol
Lol! That funny. I think getting old is good, (not counting the number) you learn more experience.
-
It is what it is. there's not a damn thing I can do to change it so why worry about it.
-
Wisdom comes with age, I don't mind.
-
If you're in good health age doesn't really matter
-
The older I get, the more wiser I am :-)
-
I just turned 25. I remember thinking of so many goals by the time I turn 25 and I've only accomplished a few of them. There's always 40!
-
I'm not old by any means, but the idea of aging and being closer to my expiration date terrifies me. I never thought I would be as old as I am now and birthdays are no longer a celebration. Instead, its a reminder that I don't want. :/
-
well when I hear people older than me at work talking about their body problems it makes me dread it...I like the way my body functions right now at age 21 and don't want it to change haha.
-
I do not want to get old. I turned 49 in December. Most days I still feel young but when I look in the mirror or try to do something like run,
that is when I realize I am getting old. Lots more aches and pains but I still keep active.
-
I do not like getting old and seeing the signs of aging on my body, but getting older can make a person wiser! To reduce aging just get enough sleep everynight and do not stress about things so much! Also make sure and exercise and stay active!
-
I recall one of my favorite movie quotes about aging came from near the end of Fried Green Tomatoes (I really don't remember much of anything else about that movie).
Kathy Bates' character was in some kind of supermarket parking lot getting ready to park her car, when a couple of college girls in their convertible sped into the spot stealing it from her. When she complained to them that they stole her spot, the commented "Face it lady, we're younger and faster." To which Kathy Bates' character proceeded to smash her car into their convertible. When the girls looked in horror at their crumpled car, Kathy responded "Face it girls, I'm older and I have more insurance!"
Not that I'm advocating smashing people's cars... ;D ...but you get the point.
-
@kapeh12,
I love your post. My post on this topic is: "Your not getting older, Your getting Better". Age is just a state of
mind. TO me It wouldn't matter to me If I was getting up in years, I have live my life to the fullest.
-
I really don't mind age is just a number. I turned fifty this jan. and I still feel young.
-
:cat: Someone, and I don't remember who, said that growing old is not for sissies. That being said, I am daily surprised when I look in the mirror. I don't know when we get old or how it might sneak up on us. I will be 73 this year and while I have slowed my pace, I am still active and most of all "alive" in mind and body and thankful for all the good in my life. I think when that goes, you are already dead.
-
I feel and look older and one day I looked in the mirror and I saw my mother and it freaked me out. So yeah getting old is freaking me out a little.
-
I like being considered the wise one...sadly I am only considered so by people under the age of 5...
-
I feel as though age is inevitable and you shouldn't sweat it, but enjoy your maturity and try your best to stay healthy.
-
it's a strange feeling too, actually. I'm curious about what lies ahead. I'm not afraid of it at all. But I am a little stunned that 'almost 40' has arrived so very quickly. This is a curious time.
-
With age comes more knowledge(at least for some people, LOL!) I am happy to get old, still don't have any grey hair yet though!!!
-
Well since I am homeless about ready to get a divorice, not to chipper, oh and did I mention going to court tomorrow, not good.
-
Getting old is something that used to bother me alot...but if you sit and think about it, there is nothing that you can do about getting older, its going to happen!!!! Being healthy, enjoying life, and being with loved ones is what its all about!!!
-
Mentally or physically? Just face reality. With each passing day we are a day older just like breathing air. How you feel is your own choice.
