I'm posting this in an attempt to hopefully help avoid a potential "situation" for both FC and the newer posters here on the FC forum. Anyone else who knows of, or has noticed other things that should be mentioned, PLEASE post them for everyone too.
For all new people who are posting here, who have the intention of requesting the monthly "paid to post" bonus, PLEASE be aware of this:
(quoted from Admin's post on Dec 23 2008 in ONGOING PROMOTIONS: Forum Participation - $3.00 per month)
"...we're offering a bonus of $3 each month you make 30 or more contributory posts in the forum"
and
"- A contributory post is one that offers some insight, makes people laugh, carries a conversation, provides information or help, or something along those lines. It's not spam, or an attempt to make money for oneself, and it's not short or missing content. Basically, if you post just to meet the 30 post requirement, you wont qualify."
Because I'm seeing a lot of posts lately that I am sure won't be considered contributory, I'm taking the liberty to expand on the specifics of what a contributory post IS NOT , so we don't have people here who are angry after they request a "paid-to-post" forum bonus, and are declined because their 30 posts didn't qualify.
A contributory post IS NOT:
*One, two, three, or four word posts, such as "Yes", "No", "I agree" and similar TYPES of answers or posts.
This DOES INCLUDE answers posted to ongoing topics like a word chain, three word post, etc.
*A post consisting of all punctuation, with no comments whatsoever, or a mostly punctuation, with just a couple words.
This applies to topics that have already been started as well as those topics you start yourself.
I sincerely hope posting this reminder will help avoid problems, and disgruntled posters. I hope it helps keep more forum members happy, and makes less work (like support tickets, etc) for FC staff who deal with this bonus. :)

Hope people that need to are reading this.... :confused1:

ya duroz, I too have seen a bunch of posts from time to time that I do not think would qualify. The yes/no's, the word chain prolly wouldnt / shouldnt count, and Ive even seen some people posting just a smiley face or stuff like that.. hopefully they read your post, and read the rules outlined by the admin before assuming they will be getting there $3 for 30 posts (and dont end up having a bunch of the posts not count)
One thing you didnt remind them of that I will go ahead and say, is that posts in the "Contest and Promotions" section of the forum DO NOT count towards your 30 posts, regardless of what you say in those posts.
This can be easy to forget about, but thankfully when you click the link to see how many posts you have so far in the month, it does not count these in the number it shows you, so you dont have to be worried about going back and adjusting the number of posts you have, it does that for you.
BUT I thought I would mention it because not everyone regulary checks their progress and might think they have more posts then they really do, so keep that in mind!
Good post.

Good post back at you too, firestorm! :) And I didn't know that about the contests and promos thing, so there ya go....I'm learning, too, from starting this post.
I posted this only for the reason that maybe then we might not see large numbers of posts asking why, or crabbing about FC, if/when people DIDN'T get the bonus because of posts that didn't qualify.

FYI - I updated the forum software to limit new users to 9 posts per day. Once you have a few hundred posts, the limit no longer applies. Hopefully this will get people to spend a little more time on their posts :)

I agree with the enforcing of the rules, I have seen some rude and dirty posts that the Admin/Kohler usually catch and it is sad that they have to use time and effort to have to police the forums because of the FEW rule breakers but it is great that they provide a QUALITY place to converse with other members and earn a few bucks. Thank you for that. :notworthy:

Great post and good reminder for everyone. Also, clearly gives examples of what a valid post is or isn't. I normally stay away from the complainers, but find that sometimes they will end an otherwise positive chain with a complaint. So really enjoy anything of this type that is intended to inform and education. Thanks!

Quoting my own topic because I wanted to add:
PLEASE PLEASE please ALSO take some time before you're starting a new topic that you're posting it in the correct board area. Not: chatting about your new puppy under "Payments", or discussing personal questions under "Offers", etc. It would be appreciated! :)

Thanks for the info. I want to reiterate about the correct topic area. If you post in the wrong area no one sees it or a lot of the info or insight gets repeated. Makes it tough you are searching for something specific.

Exactly, erinelise2 !! It would be a lot better for all of us, and I would think especially for new folks trying to find answers.

Awesome....now we won't see the same person starting 30 new threads in an hour.

Ah, so that explains it. I understand the reasoning behind that, but it is a little frustrating when you are "on a roll." I have been very selective in choosing what to respond to, and what to let pass without comment. I look forward to getting past Newbie status so I can comment freely without being restricted. There are a lot of topics on here that do hold interest for me.

@ Admin, great idea to limit daily posts, especially toward the end of the month when it seems so many non qualified posts hit the forum. I am also glad that a good number of folks pointed out the importance of posting under the correct heading. Since the posts have not been archived or consolidated, it is difficult for a new person to find the information they are seeking and the search engine ends up over worked and does not always produce the best replies or info because there is too much in the wrong places. The general discussion should just be moved completely away as more of a chat room and if every post is being viewed, those that are not appropriately placed should be moved there, with an email notification that it had been placed in the wrong category, more than three emails, no longer permitted to post, period, or put on a 90 day restriction from posting. Things would get cleaned up in a hurry.
