People always say I can throw my garbage on the floor, street, make a mess because I am keeping the janitors jobs. They say if we all clean our mess the janitors will be out of work. What do you guys think about this statement
-
I still do not think that's an excuse to be a slob and not pick after yourself. There's always going to be people who do not pick after themselves and there are going to be "accidental" messes, but this doesn't mean people should intentionally make a mess if they're conscious of their actions. The only exception in my life I might have felt differently was my last trip at a fast food restaurant in China where I picked up after myself and tossed my scraps and garbage in the trash bin and got a cold stare from the busboy (this example was more in line with your janitor example).
-
That would be like saying it's okay to rape women, because you keep the police, prison guards, counselors, judges, lawyers, et. al. employed.
-
Was that about men? lol. I think as long as they think someone else is going to clean up their mess, they don't bother with doning it them self. But, most guys don't really even care if it gets cleaned up at all. :sad1:
-
Untrue. Toss your garbage in a trash can and you still need janitors to empty the can.
-
learn to pick up after yourself and you'll always have a job.
-
Janitors will never be eliminated because there will always be messes to clean. Plus there is the attitude, "let the janitor clean it up, that's what they get paid for." Cleaning up is beneath some people.
-
I think the janitors would have plenty to do with sweeping and mopping and all the other chores that they are expected to do. I feel it is everybodies obligation to pick up after themselves. Oh, what a pretty, clean world we would have!
-
Those people are stuck on stupid. It's just an excuse for laziness. ??? :fish:
-
The Janitor's job is more than just picking up mess, it them keeping things organized and mopping floors and what not. If you pick up trash from the ground your helping earth.

I think you mean "Some people believe it is beneath them to clean up"? I don't really believe that anyone is too good to clean up after themselves. The only people who truly have an excuse are the very young or the disabled.
Very good point, though.
-
I think it's a statement for lazy people. If everyone picked up after themselves, well it would make other people's lives so much easier. :)
-
The sad thing is that I hear parents tell their kids "let the janitor clean it up, that's what they get paid for." What are they teaching their kids??? :BangHead: :BangHead: :dontknow:
-
EVEN IF EVERYONE CLEAN UP AFTER THEN SELF THEIR WILL ALL BE WORK FOR THEM JUST THINK OF ALL OF THE CLEANING THAT HAS TO BE DON THET JUST KNEADS TO BE CLEAN UP.
-
not all janitorial jobs would be gone. you still need places to be sanitized like bathrooms and such. they clean the stuff you can see also
-
There might be janitors at schools, hospitals and the like, but running those places has it's own "mess", if you will, trash bins and cans, cafeteria messes, bio hazard from surgery, dust, floors needing mopped due to foot traffic, windows needing washed, etc. To suggest that for us all to voluntarily add to those messes to keep people in jobs is absurd. As for trash on the streets, there is no "janitor" who drives or walks the streets of the earth simply to pick up rubbish that you might throw. What filthy disgusting streets we would have if everyone did that. There are trash bins almost everywhere you go for your refuse. There are people hired to empty those. Think of the trash that would blow into our natural game reserves, streams, lakes and rivers to pollute and possibly poison or starve our flora and fauna. Remember the water birds that pecked at a six pack plastic rings, got their beaks entangled and then could no longer eat and starved to death? Certain types of rubbish can entangle their wings, feet or bodies making them immobile and thus killing them. Animals have no hands to free themselves. It is very harmful in so many ways to think or behave in the way that statement reads. :bs:
-
I agree with everyone on here. That statement is clearly one of ignorance. Anyone who thinks they are doing someone else a favor by being messy has obviously never had to pick up after anyone else.
-
I personally feel like making a mess on purpose is stupid. Granted Janitors need there jobs but they don't want unnessary messes to keep them busy. Most places that have janitors have everyday cleaning that needs to be done without pickup after those who use the excuss " I'm keeping this person with job security". That is a cop out to be a slob. I also feel that by thinking this way is telling people that you have no repect or morals.
-
Absolutely not. Everyone should clean up after themselves. There will still be plenty for janitors to do without having to worry about other peoples purposeful messes.
-
There will always be trash to clean up on this planet-janitor or not.
-
Major trashy for them to clean doesn't seem right. Dirt won't stop as long as the world turns. Still lots for someone to do without the mess of one person making the place extra messy!
-
I think that people should clean up after themselves. Janitors will still have jobs because floors still need to be swept, mopped, things need to be dusted, etc.
-
we should go to their mothers house and throw our garbage on her floor so their mother has something to do!

Agreed. People should clean up after themselves.
-
I believe that is a statment made by a lazy person, or at least someone who doesn't want to take responsiblity for their own actions.
-
EXACTLY I HATE WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT I JUST DID NOT WANT TO PUT MY FEELINGS IN THERE I WANTED TO SEE WHAT YOU GUYS WOULD SAY
-
Another thought! Why not pick up you own trash just to give the janitor a break. They work hard and are expected to jump when there is a real disaster, so why not keep things clean so that maybe they get a breath now and then.
-
Just an excuse to be lazy.
-
Nicely put everyone. I taught my family to pick up after them selves. so no one has to .
-
Janitors will never be out of work even if we clean up after ourselves. Are people just too lazy to toss their trash in the wastebasket or they just couldn’t locate one? I think it’s careless & ignorant for deliberately tossing garbage out on the streets, public restrooms, or just anywhere other than their own home shows a lot in a person’s level of character. :angry7: Actions speak louder than words.
-
I think that throwing your trash around just because there is janitors shows that you have no respect for them, even though their job is important.
-
we will always have a need for a janitor because garbage and dirt is everywhere even if you throw it away
-
If you are too lazy to pick up after yourself, then you are someone that always expects someone else to take care of you. To me, that's not a good thing.
-
If you like trash around you till the cleaning lady comes in, it is fine. But if you hate how it looks, clean it and the cleaning lady will have time to clean other things she doesn't have time to clean. Maybe add a fresh scent, do a deep clean on the carpet, or if you are a teacher, she will have time to clean your board if it's ok. Maybe spray clean desks.
