How do you guys feel about the free school lunch program?
-
I think it's good. Kids will be able to eat. There are probley those that would not eat otherwise,.
-
The free school lunch program should revise the menu into providing more grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, not dead animals and dairy products. Good health and longevity starts from childhood.

my family used the service, not that my child wouldn't have eaten otherwise. We didn't like the fact that it wasn't kept a better secret in that the kids using the service was allowed a selection of food that was allowed for the program and not allowed choice for all food items on the menu. It is supposed to be set up that no one would know who was on the program. I would like to see it taken a step farther and allow all school kids free lunches and better food. I don't see how chicken nuggets served at school cafeteria is better for you than those served at fast food restaraunts.

i used the free lunch service in high school. we were provided the same menu choices as other students. We would swipe our id cards or give them our id number to pay for the lunch. REcently while substituting at my local elementary school, they would have breakfast broght to the classroom for all students to eat together in the classroom.

The free school lunch program is of the great help for families with low income and few resources. It will provide a stress relieve for those families in need.

Excellent idea: Free school lunch program. There are a lot of hungry people out there.

In our county all children recieve free meals. It just makes things better for them all and no one is singled out for the free meals. If they choose not eat them, then it is thier own fault if they get hungry. Our taxes help pay for it. My kids always would rather take bag lunches. What can i say they would rather have my cooking.

It isn't free... someone is paying for it.
I can feed my entire family of 4 dinner, a healthy dinner, for about $10.
Why can't the recipients of the 'free' lunches figure out a way to make their own and not continue to leech off the system and drive us further into debt?
-
i think that it's a good idea for people who really need it. but for people who don't it's like really cuz lunch is under 2 so i know people can afford that.
-
I don't have a problem with free lunch in school. It was free in my day. The school system just have to provide food that is healthy and that the children will eat or else the food will go to waste.

Books, lunch, and supplies should be free, that is why we pay taxes, and that is what the gambling and lottery money is supposed to be used for, thats why my state voted it in.
-
I feel that as a society we should make sure our children are taken care of. We cannot have a successful future without successful children and if we refuse to feed them, deny them medical care, or deny them a safe place to learn there is no way that our country will have a successful future.

I think its a great program. Without it a lot of kids would not eat. It's not the kids fault that the parents are to lazy to or can't work to support the family.
-
Both of my parents worked, but they still found time to slap together a sandwich, chips, an apple, and juice for me and my brother to eat when we were going to school.

How wonderful for those of you who had parents that made and were able to afford lunches and breakfast for you daily. But there are circumstances where every child does not have that....In our area the food is also getting to be more and more nutritious, by parental demand. Also, I believe if they start the kids off in grade school with healthy and tasty food, there would be a lot less problems with health and weight by the time they get to middle and high school age, and they will be use to the GOOD school food. Many schools have very poor nutruition and taste that they try to serve now. It should not be that difficult to make the lunches good tasting and good for you!

There is no "free lunch" as someone is paying for it. I don't have a problem with the truly needy getting a free lunch but I do have a problem with most of the kids getting it. People are going to have to start taking care of themselves because over half of our population is living off of the government and the government is head over heels in debt and getting worse daily. It doesn't take a lot of money to pack a sandwich each day.

I think it's a good idea. some children have no way to pay and it helps promote wellness and good nutrition.
