I'd be against breeding them; it may well produce some sort of abomination like a 'cadog' or, a 'doggat'.  Separately, is a whole 'nother matter.

I would say thats a 'outside the box' thought.  I don't believe it would work though since the genes of both are probably too different to have that work.

If you mean breeding a dog and a cat together that's way too weird.  I wouldn't want to even try to fool with nature like that.

Okay, I think I've stopped laughing at my faux pas. Sorry to be obtuse-no, I didn't mean cross-breeding cats and dogs! That never even occurred to me. Was watching the American Kennel dog show and watching all these dog breeds and wondered how many dogs they had to go through to get their perfect animal--and wondered what happened to the ones that missed perfection.

You can't mix dogs and cats.
But... off topic. If you mix a dog and cat you take away what makes them special. It is either the catdog will act like a dog and stay in a family or go do random stuff like a cat. For example: A normal dog would protect its family. A catdog might run away for no apparent reason.

As someone who personally breeds dogs I think it's an okay thing. The dogs aren't abused or anything. The only bad thing is people not wanting to take care of the dogs and then the dogs becoming homeless. But the chances of that happening is pretty low because people buying our dogs are paying 800+ dollars a dog. So they should be willing to take care of the dog.

I don't think that  can't controlwould be a good idea, you would be messing with nature.  You might get something you don't want or a very sick animal.

I don't think that breeding cats & dogs to make perfect for AKA dog or cat show is not a good thing. They just came up with 5 new dogs that are now considered AKA Dogs but these new type dogs is mixed w/another type of dog. To me that's no different from a mutt. We still have an over population of homeless puppies that are mutts,& some pure breeds. & I can't deal with seeing these animals killed because there is no room. On the other hand, I disagree on breeding domestic cats w/wild cats which is like a fad now a days. Over all stop breeding these animals. We have enough homeless pets that needs homes.   :peace:

I'm kind of partial to mutts.  That just means that I love dogs that are imperfect and unique.  I've never own cats.

I think shooting for a perfect specimen would ruin the fun.

Breeding is fine as long as it is done without harming the animals. I mean I know it is but still, there are some out there that are not the kindest people. I've had many cats in my life, and most of them have been from off the street, the one my family has now, was released as a kitten onto a busy road, and almost got hit twice.

I love animals, cats more so because I grow up with them. I love the personalities they take on, which can be somewhat of a Diva. If I never had a cat in my life I'd still like them, I know this because I never owned a dog, and I still like them more for their playful qualities.

My opinion is leave it to the professionals. I've seen too many people "jump" into it, usually getting in over their head. Besides you can often find the best dogs at the pound. Good old american mutts.

What do you think about breeding dogs and cats to get the perfect specimen?

I have a friend that breed German short hair pointing dogs and really loves that.
