Not sure what you are asking....a paypal account has to be linked to a bank account.  It's a primary way to send and receive money online.

"Direct Deposits" on FC mean direct deposits to your bank account.

If you have a PAYPAL account, you request a cashout to PAYPAL and it is deposited directly into your PAYPAL account.

When you want to move money from PAYPAL to your bank account, you request that via PAYPAL.  That transfer takes a couple of days.  Your PAYPAL account needs to be verified (ie tied to your bank account or a credit card) if you plan to make transfer/payments out of your account.

If you want the money in your bank account, select "Direct Deposit".  If you expect to use your PAYPAL account for cash outs from other sites or making purchases on the web, then have your cash outs go to PAYPAL.  Some sites will not allow cash outs to your PAYPAL account unless it is verified.

True, one could use PayPal without linking it to an external bank account, (in order to be verified on PayPal, you must either enter your bank account information or have a PayPal Plus MasterCard).

From PayPal's site:

"Sending money to friends and family is also free for you and the recipient when you fund the transfer with your bank account. You can also use a debit or credit card or make an international transfer for a small fee.

Debit/Credit Card Fee This fee covers charges we receive from the credit card company.
This fee covers charges we receive from the credit card company. 2.9% of total amount sent plus $0.30 per transaction (the sender decides who pays this fee)."

Yes, your paypal account is linked to your bank account and then you can directly deposit your funds from paypal to your bank.

Paypal is definitely the easiest way to go and the most secure way to go.  I've been a verified member with paypal for years and they've always made sure my information was in the right hands.  There's no fees for when FC sends you the money on paypal either only if you are selling something and it happens within a transaction.

I have yet to be charged a fee for using my debit card, haven't seen anything on PayPal or Bank statement
