If I notice that day at all, it is to 'curse' the memory of Maewyn Succat, (he took the name of Patrick, or Patricius, meaning "well-born" in Latin, after he became a priest and proceded to 'convert' much of pagan Britannia to catholicism).  That deserves a 'thumbs down' in my book, no matter how it's "celebrated" today.

There's an Irish pub here that sponsors a 5k every year with  breakfast before and a party afterwards.

I usually try to wear green ... although it is really not one of my favorite colors.  That is about as far as it goes for me!

Our family builds leprechaun traps and sets them out the night before (based on a book).
We try to catch Lucky who comes to our house every year and makes messes and leaves gold chocolate coins.
We wear green the next day and usually go to the parade. :peace:

i love that idea of making traps and having the house messed up the next morning.  If I ever have kids, I so want to do that!

We don't normally do much for St. Patrick's day. I have always wanted to go to Boston for it but, have not since the Mid 80's when I was in the Navy. Had a great time!! Although my wife is second generation IRISH, Her father was born and raised in IRELAND, came here when he was 17. We normally just do the "Corned Beef and Potatoes" and of course, Beer to commemorate.

My mom always got us little shamrock stickers and had us dress in green.  And a cake.  Because who can celebrate without a cake?  I don't know what I'll do this year.  Maybe eat potatoes.  Just because I love potatoes.  I suppose I could die them green :confused1:

Saint Patrick's day falls on a Saturday this Year!  Usually I have to keep a reserved approach because I have to go to work the next day.  Not this year...woo hoo! I will probably hit a few bars on Friday night, do a four mile run Saturday morning, take the kids to their respective sports and than hit the local Irish pub for some corn beef and hash...to be washed down with liberal amounts of beer.  I'll probably sneak a few green ones in there too!  The bar in our neighborhood has twenty one bag pipers cruising through the bar every three hours or so and a band that plays social distortion covers!

Going camping, provided there's no precipitation.  Guinness + woods = good.
