I always tried to jump double-dutch but it just didn't work for me. I was able to turn the ropes I think, lol.
Been so long ago I am just glad those days are behind me. Thanks for the blast from the past though.

It has been a long time since I have heard that word "double douch". There was alot of things that we used to do as kids that were very activity orientated and Healthy. I see in my grandkids that they seem to want to stay in the house and play with their computer or Video games, WI or whatever. When they come to my house they have to work, at least they get that little bit of exercise. I used to play pickup basketball, baseball on the beach - that isn't easy! Bicycle races, just between friends and football between block teams and stickball, Yes I was brought up in NYC. We always did something and kept doing something and organized it ourselves. I think that is why we will live longer than our kids and grandkids and that is a shame!!

My students (grade 7) LOVE double dutch. It's their absolute favourite activity, and they are constantly asking if they can get out the ropes.

:-[ I never was really good at double dutch when I was a kid, but I've always been impressed with people that had the skill. There are some adults that can still double dutch, like the rapper Eve and the actress you played Jaleesa on "A different World".
They're (Eve and "Jalessa") double dutchin' in the following vid's:
