Title: Reading a Good Book
Post by: Garydh on March 27, 2012, 03:48:47 pm
I saw the movie "The Help", and thought it was very good. I still want to read the book. Speaking of also I have seen Gone with the Wind, and now feel I would like to read that as well. Sometimes a book can develope the characters in greater detail. Like the Godfather, in the book you get the real character of Luca Brachi (sp), boy was he mean. Anyway just saying.

I also like reading real life drama stories. One I waiting to get is called Defending Jacob. Seems a Prosecuter ends up defending his son. (real life). Boy a prosecuter now having to think like a defence attorney. That should be interesting.

I'm reading "Life" by Keith Richards. Man, but those boys (Rolling Stones) could party up a storm!!!!! Very humorous book.

To Garydh: I definitely recommend reading the book Gone With The Wind; it is much more detailed than the movie.  If the entire book had been put into the movie it would have been at least twice as long as it is, and when you read the book I think you'll know what I mean.  In the book Scarlett has three children.  Mammy is a more-developed character, and you'll learn more about Scarlett's family background.  But--I don't want to give too much away; you'll find out for yourself.

I am reading Body Double by Tess Gerristan right now.  I like to read Medical mysteries and drama.  Bentley Little, Dean Koontz, Robin Cook and Tess are my favorite authors.

I'm reading "Born to Run"  by Christopher McDougall which is all about the art of running and why as humans are built just right for this sport. I'm enjoying it thoroughly! Also, I prefer a paper book over anything on an e-reader but that's just me.

I'm usually working on 3 - 4 books at any one time. I just picked up Rachel Carson's Silent Spring. Still working on Einstein and Chernow's Washington.

If they are my favorite authors, they are good books to me, especially when I pay money for them.  Everybody have their idea of what a good book is, but I decide what's good to me  and not what others may think.

It's been many years since I read Gone With the Wind.  It is a great book.  The sequel wasn't bad but not as good as Gone With The Wind.  Odd how she never wrote another book.

Just finishing the Serial Killer Whisperer. Great story on the kid that had a brain injury and turned it around to interview the most notorious serial killers around. Also thanks to other suggestions I will be picking up Gone with the Wind at the Library this week.  Have a great day FusionCash Forum Members
