:BangHead: Maybe it's just me but I feel if the gas prices get any higher im going to have to walk to work, and in that matter every where else i need to travel too!!! Am I the only one who's like oops......." forgot to pay the bill" and DRIVE OFF... or is it the other way around where you pay cause u have no choice but too?
-
nope I saw yesterday it was 4.20 down the street my hisband drives 50 miles to work each day this is getting insane there is only so much a person can cut back on things as though things aren't tight enough!!!!
-
we have our own oil...and we shouldnt have to pay excise tax when we buy our gas...we already pay excise tax when we register our vehicles every year. politicians dont care how much it cost because they dont have to fill up their own cars, they use government owned cars with governemnt funded credit cards...so unfair :angry7:
-
yes my husband drives 50 miles to work and 50 back i think it's costing us omg like 90.00 a week gas prices have gone up 2.50 a gallon in 3 in a half years so bad
-
IF WE COULD BOYCOTT THE GAS PRICES THEY WOULD BE LOWER BUT THAT KNOW MOST PEOPLE ARE NOT GONE TO WALK AND ARE GONE TO PAY THE HIGH PRICES.
-
Gas prices are sending me to the poor house (although I was just next door to begin with). Lol. Between gas and parking prices, I think I just work to pay for gas and parking lots. Cheese and crackers! >:(
-
I felt the extreme urge to add this...
The bill at the GROCERY STORE anymore is about enough to make one clutch their heart :o and scream "I'm having the Big One!!"
-
:( Gas prices are outrageously high! I do not know what I am going to do for this summer!
-
Oh I so agree "duroz" the grocery store the gas pump some days I just wonder what we are all going to do EVERYTHING is going up but our incomes way more going out than coming in *sigh*
-
hehe i cant say for this matter cuz i dont drive.. but i hear ya on the gas its def gettn higher..
-
You got that right! Them :bs: oil companies and opec are milking us like crazy.
-
I must say that w it costs over $50 everytime you go to the gas station it really make a HUGE dent in the wallet. I agree with the comment below, if we have one of the largest single stores of oil in our own backyard, why the hell don't we tap that every once in awhile. I mean come on we are paying waaaaaay to much damn money to fill up our damn vehicles! Happy trails all... :bs:

In some states like michigan you need a car to get around. i wish i had a car so i could get to my job with my own car. gas is going through a extreme cost increase and i think it will only get worse. thats why the world needs change. A change of the people and environment. what happens when we do run out of a important material like gas.
-
Well, a bit of good news as that prices aren't going to go as high as they thought they would. They are already putting a strain on my budget costing $50 to fill up; I don't live an area where I can walk or have public transportation so have no choice. But I do limit my driving and combine several errands when I am out.
-
when we run out of important materials like gas then people will want to make a change and find even more "alternate fuels" and be even more environmentally friendly instead of doing something about it now while there is still time.
-
It is getting rough where we live also. We live in a very rural area so have to drive everywhere. We make at least 1-2 trips to my dads and it is 11 miles one way which isn't much but still it cost, Then have to take a trip every so often to see aunti (will be 99 soon) and that is about a 5 hour trip. We just can't afford to go very often. The Drs. are all out of town so combine those trips with buying groceries. Our grocery store is a rip off here. Walmart is 80 miles away. So buy a months worth at a time and at times my dads too. You are looking at 450-500 dollar food bill at one time and that hurts. All for the oil and gas companies to make their big profits. I don't care what the gove. saysit is price gouging.
-
The price of gas is hurting everyone now and I hate this but we have to live with it as well ::) ::)
-
I have learned to walk and ride the buss more because the cost of gas is getting crazy.
-

I think everyone feel that way. It was terrible.
-
No it's not just you gas prices are jumping every where I seem to go are look. I pass by a place and within 30min later prices of gas then already hoop up 3 to 6 cents.
-
I know the gas done went platium before we know it is goin to be $5.00 a gal. I hope the president does something about it cause we pay high taxes, Alot of people is goin to have to get either more jobs just so they can efford their gas or either just start riding bicycles which wold hate cause what if it rain or storm. Somethin is just to have to be done to get the gas to go down cuzy this is crazy!!!!!!!!
-
And suddenly that "pay your fair share" doesn't seem quite as appealing does it?
-
If you really want to understand why they're so high and will only go higher watch this:

i live in alabama and its about 4 dollars here!!! >:(
-
Yeah....they are. I'm sixteen and I hear my parents complaining about it all the time..But what can we do to change it?
-

Have the fed not print more money for starters. For us that means force the government to live within its means, and personally for us it means to not demand things for 'free' (after all, this 'free' stuff is one of the main reasons for the gas prices) that we cannot afford. Some people really liked the stimulus and bailouts, but these gas prices are but one example of how we all end up paying this worthless waste of money back, even though we never expected we would have to (or in my case were against the foolish idea in the first place). Someone posted a good link, either on this thread or another regarding gas prices, about the fiat system that lets you understand a bit easier about how the prices work in this regard.
-
Remember not to buy gas on April 15th. Gas prices are way too high. Why?
-
I agree! Why is what I would like to know! I believe we have alot of gas stored, and can't figure out why we can't use it. Instead we keep storing more and more, while the american people have to pay, pay and pay some more. I'd really like to know what they intend to do, when we run out of storage room.
-
Gas is a bit out of hand. This is why when I finally saved up $900 dollars I didn't even think about getting a car, and went straight to motor cycles.
I bought a used 2000 Yamaha xt225. They are called dual-sports, but are essentially street-legal dirt bikes. 70 miles per gallon. $75 dollars a YEAR, for insurance! Can't beat that.
Now, if can get cold in the winter, but if you bundle up and drive slow it's not that bad. They seem to be getting more popular, for good reason.
-
It is crazy how high gas prices have gotten.. I find it so hard to believe that our country with the size that it is and with the technology we have, why are we dependent on others for oil?????
-
AMEN!! They jack it up and then knock it down a few pennies and people think "oh, gas has gone down," but is was already up to begin with. I hate gas companies.
-
That is something that I agree with. To make matters worse gas prices are going to get more ridiculous.
-
they are getting way out hand. i just wish one day we wake up and the prices are so low we fill our tank for 20 bucks. lol i know iknow good luck with that.
-
yeh, I think I'll buy a horse. More cheaper, not only green environment but save a lot of gas ;D
-
Gas is so expensive its not even funny. The cheapest gas where i live is $4.03 a gallon. That is rediculous. Im about to start walking everywhere again. :-
-
what to cause the gas price to go up any way? not only gas price but also food price is going up too
-
Unfortunately they are and there isn't much we can do about it :dontknow: we can only hope that they go down, and shop around in your area cuz some places may be a little cheaper than others.
-

This is a result of the Fed monetizing the debt as part of the 'stimulus' package that was foolishly engaged in by the government on the pretense of helping the economy. Food is up from transportation and fuel costs in general being up as well as other issues.
Oil is valued on fiat money. Remember when gold is high and the dollar is weak (to gold) then you can get a good ratio of gas prices compared to other times. As a loose example, if the dollar stayed the same and gold prices doubled then gas prices would double. If gold prices remained the same and the dollar weakened by 25% then gas prices would increase by 25%, etc. That is the basics of but there is a bit of variability in addition to that.
-
Last time the price busted and boomed it was revealed inaccuracy in speculators value on oil. I would not be shocked if those speculators were in bed with big oil. When the "true" value was placed on oil in late 2007, gas was about 1.50 or less a gallon. Price has steadily climbed and BS answers are given. The value of the US dollar declining, a rise in China's middle class.. I know both of those things are true but you will never convince me that dirty speculation and price gouging aren't in play here.
-
Gas will be up more this summer. I think that know one need to drive anymore. :)
-
Looks as if I will have to get a job just to drive my car with these prices.... ;)

Do you find it oddly interesting that gas prices are quick to rise, (overnight and for various so-called "reasons"), and ever so slow to fall once those supposed "reasons" are no longer a factor or, in play? <--things that may make one say 'hrmmm'

Finally....we are getting a slight brake on the price of gas here in Fayetteville, AR. It's down almost $0.30 from just a week ago. Crossing fingers and toes in hopes that it stays down for a awhile.
-
Hmmm, gas prices are unnecessarily way too high. Here in Hawaii they are up to $4.49 a gal. I was speaking to some business associates in Canada, they are perplexed as to why the US does not work with Canada to become self sufficient in oil gas and coal. They have enough to sustain the US for 200 years at low prices not to mention the Mexico and Alaska. But it is big business for our government to embargo gas from terrorists and dictators, lest we remove them from the equation and they set their sites on us as the infidels they imagine us to be. We are just paying pawns in their financial games at their mercy for goods and services. So now we struggle just to keep our heads above water and pray we don't get them shot off. :-)

With no intention of raining on your parade, keep in mind that refineries are soon switching over to the "summer formulation" of gasoline, (more ethonol content to lower emissions during the warmer months). That's typically followed by an upward bump at the pump, unfortunately, as refineries pass increased costs associated with that process on to the stations and consumers.
-
this is why I love the fact that I live about 2 miles from my job. My wife's job is about 3 blocks away from the house. I bike to work most of the year, except winter. She prefers to drive but at least the cost isn't bad since she doesn't use much fuel. Hope we can keep that situation going good for a while, especially if I buy the electric or hybrid vehicle I am planning to get before summer.
-
It is, what it is. Nothing to get worked up about.

Possibly ... would $10/gallon gas be something to get worked up about?
-
If gas prices got up to $10 a gallon I think I would have to go out and buy me a horse. But then again there is things to buy for the horse like it's feed, grooming supplies, and horse shoes. So It's almost like a catch 22 situtation. What gets me is some states have a cap on the price of gas so why don't all the states just do it so the consumer doesn't go broke just trying to make sure they can get to work to pay their bills.

True, horses can be more expensive than childcare costs. Who knows, someday we may all have to resort to solar-powered mopeds or, a new technology as yet undeveloped.

That's actually a cap on excise taxes once the price at the pump hits $3/gallon:

Now you gas prices are way to damn expensive when your happy to be paying $4.06 for premium gas, I mean I still remember when people would line up around the block for $2.50 prices. What is this world coming to? :BangHead:
-
if you think price in us is bad stop and think about the brits.
-
It is, what it is. Nothing to get worked up about.
Possibly ... would $10/gallon gas be something to get worked up about?
Nope. It's not going to happen anyway.

That's what some people initially believed about $2.00/gallon gas, (until it hit that level), then $3/gallon and then $4. So, why not $5, $7 or $10 per/gallon eventually?
-
Maybe prayer can help keep Gas prices reasonable? :angel11:
-
I don't know when the gas price going to go down, but I see the price are going crazy to catch up.
-

Now you know that the religious adherents who believe in such superstitious intercessory magic are just going to mumble vague nonsense about "god's will" and such if challenged to actually "pray" for lower gas prices, (for instance, the challenge could be that the prayer consist of lowering gas prices to $2.50 by 3 days following Labor Day ... if gas prices remain higher than $2.50/gallon for regular unleaded, the 'prayers' will have demonstrably failed). Any takers on such a challenge?
-
The thing is people are too dumb to even know what and who caused the extreme high gas prices. I'd bet people would blame the Government right away. LOL
-

Maybe so however, at least a few are blaming the oil companies who are racking-in record profits in the multiple billions, (and oil futures speculators, who largely drive the commodity prices for oil).

And those few would be mostly wrong. Personally I don't enjoy the idea of speculators in oil at the moment (considering it is always going to be a high demand item in the near future), but it is a gamble the speculators are making and it does have risks.

True, there are risks in any commodities market and an investor never really knows what's going to cause spot-market prices to surge or plunge in an 'instant', (beyond the speculators driving prices one way or the other).
-
gas prices are just too high in Hawaii. I rarely drive anymore and food prices are taking a big hit. I don't think its a supply and demand issue?
-
thank god i dont drive :) gases are always riduclouse we dont use them wisley enough
-
Gas Prices are soaring these days. I can't afford to go many places and when I do leave home I try to get all my errands done before I go home. I'm seriously thinking of buying myself a bicycle. :sad1:
-
Gas prices are finally on the way down here in South Texas. Not really sure why, but I'll take it.
-
I heard a news commentator today say that people are returning to larger vehicles, which means we are getting used to higher gas prices. Now, that is a dangerous trend.
-
Gas went down .10 where I live. It went from 3.87 to 3.77. Boy what a savings. :confused1:
-
I paid about $135 at the pump on Saturday. That's nothing compared to a lot of other SUV drivers in other states, but $10 gets you only 2.3 gallons. I'm getting 13 mpg. I want a newer, more efficient car, but can't afford the payments. I plan to walk everywhere this summer. We've cancelled all plans to get passes to fun places near us.
