would you ever want to live out in the country away from all the craziness? ever thing of the calmness raising a family away from all the hardships of the world and do your own thing no influences media and all the bad things i mean i know i stil would want to be social but in a different way

Well, I was more or less raised like that?
Always in small towns / middle of nowhere on a farm.
And for the majority of the time, we didn't have tv (well, we had a set but it wasn't hooked up even to local channels, only for watching movies and tapes). I don't really think the media is necessarily a bad influence though. I've learned a LOT via the internet and would prefer to keep informed. Watching how the world solves their hardships can give you tips on your own situation, after all.
I wouldn't like to live in a city. The worst thing about the farm is it was too far away from town. Always bought a "months worth of groceries at a time" far. And in town, even a small one, I sometimes feel a bit claustrophobic, because you can "do your own thing" only if it's behind a solid privacy fence and the facade out front for the random strangers driving by looks nice.
But at least you have space to do stuff and try things.
Uhm no real comment on the "raising a family" part from me. I'm planning on staying barren, if I can help it. ;D But hypothetically, I would prefer outskirts of a small town -> farm -> town -> to city.
But I'm a young doofus adult who never has had to live in a city, only visit for very short times.

There are places where you can live a country lifestyle and not be far from "civilization". We live on several acres outside a town with a walmart and urban bus service to a large city. I can even ride my bike to church and the walmart if I choose to do so. :)

i live in a "country" type setting...and am still only 4 miles outside the city limits. its one of those neighborhoods where everyone knows everyone, familys have lived here for generations, kids grow up, move into houses their parents lived in before they died. so on so forth....its really not that bad

I would absolutely love to live more out in the country.
I am a loner by nature and if I wanted to deal with civilization
all I would need to do is to get in my car and drive there.

country all the way, only problem here is now our country has street lights shinning over the corn fields. just not the same anymore.

that is my absolute dream. I want to be in a country setting but i dont want to be like 50 miles away from the next hospital.Id want to b close enough that i could still particate every now and then in city affairs but mostly just be on my own with the family.

I love the country life style,and the city too! I love the quiteness of the country too much!!! :thumbsup:

I always wanted to live in a country setting. No cows chickens, etc. just away front the big city.

I can't stand living out in the middle of no where, but right here I have no choice.

Well you can take girl out of the country, bu will always remain a country girl. Now i live in a small rural town as close to being in the country but not quite there. When i want to be in the country i go vivit my dad and or brother. Thats enough. Never again will i deive another tractor or set water for irrigation. Did my share.

I'm a city person through and through. We're in a very remote, rural area right now, and it's been a very difficult transition.
I'm happier now that the weather is warmer and I can be outside more, but it's been very hard on me. The thing I miss the most is choice and options in service industries. In the city, I had my choice between countless different dry cleaners, tons of grocery stores, restaurants, drug stores, etc, all in walking distance.
Out here, you've only got one choice. First off, it's a drive just to get to them. And if you don't like them, or if they provide poor quality service, you don't have a choice to go to another retailer. Because there just isn't one.
It's very beautiful here, but if I had my choice between city or country, I'd be back in the city in a heartbeat.

I've lived in the country before. While it's nice in some ways, it offers other challenges in other ways. And then there's the long commutes. So I'll take the city instead personally.
