I recently heard on the news about people that are choosing their babys hair color, eye color, etc. I think that is wrong.
-
i don't really believe in that :/ i mean.. isn't part of the fun seeing how they turn out? who they look more like and all of that? that's how it's supposed to be. you shouldn't get to CHOOSE. else god would've made the entire system differently ;p
-
you are right i totally agree with you
-
okay on the poll above, I accidentally hit the Yes option when I was meaning to hit the No. So disregard 1 yes and add 1 no. lol I completely disagree with being able to "choose" what your baby looks like. Doctors/scientists should not have ANYTHING to do with your baby until he/she is delivered and then it's only to make sure they stay healthy!! You, your partner and God are the ONLY one's with any kind of say in how it turns out, and even then....2 of the 3 don't know until his/her birthday!!! ;)

So many people are trying to play God. There is no such thing as a perfect baby/person.
-
no its is not right. just let the baby be born who it was supposed to me. no special genetics. thats just wrong in my opinion.

I agree. Quit messing with nature. Just let natural things be natural.

i dont know what type of person would actually do that so far one person has said yes but i didnt see them leave a comment about y they would
-
I voted yes, though I probably wouldn't take advantage of the opportunity. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it has no chance of negative side effects. I've read about this becoming a possibility in the future (back in like, 2003), but I haven't heard about anyone actually doing it. Can you link to the news article?
-
if it wont hurt the baby, then what's the harm...also would help them to advance in medicine
-
i saw this on the news but ill try to find the link to it or some type of article.
-
Oh yeah I've heard about this too.
I'm not too into the idea.
Hmm but that's just me.

While I'm sure the opportunity to pick and choose which genes your offspring will inherit will be exploited by most, what matters most is the advantages this gives to others. By being able to choose genes those with genetic problems will be able to have children without regreting having done so and giving their child defective genes. It also opens up the idea that genetic disorders such as haemophilia and Huntington's could possibly be eradicated from the world in the future.

It's like people are trying to be God. It's not right!
-
it should be what you get... thats life!
-
I voted no because I want to be able to tell if my kid ends up looking like my wife's boss! It's a scary thought that science could cover that up. :o
-
The idea of choosing features for your child is just absurd. Parents shouldn't be so concerned with glamor and appearances and be more concerned with having healthy babies. In my opinion all baby's are created different for a reason, and there all perfect in there own ways.
-
:bootyshake: This is the only baby I need !!! hahaha
-
Oh no way... I believe that babies are born perfect. It's the same reason I don't believe in circumcision and my son is 100% intact. If it's not broken, don't fix it...
-
i voted no because i believe that many people would choose what is massively viewed as "attractive" traits and eventually our diverse country will start to morph into people who look very similar. the same theory goes forthe rising popularity of plastic surgery. i trust in the natural process of creation and that we are all what we are supposed to be, and that includes how we look.

Wtf? They have designer BABIES now?
The world is seriously screwed up.
-
i'll stick to letting God decide
God makes good work:)
psalm 139
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed

Instead of create your ideal baby, I think there should be a test for ideal parents. I am sorry, but some people really should not be able to have kids. There are too many children out there being raised in broken homes, abused or abandoned - there really should be a test before people can conceive.
-
uhmmm.... it's up with the parents i think?
-
If I had a baby I certainly wouldn't want it to have some of my features but I wouldn't mess with mother nature to change it.
-
It is a sad day for schools. We have students who do not want to learn. Teachers that are overstressed as well as parents. Something has to change. We bombard our students with thoughts about college and they do not have the basics down! :dontknow:

i agree with you 100%!!! i know a few people (some of which are my relatives) that have no business having kids. i seriously think there should be some kind of training and testing required before you're allowed to have kids. you need a license to drive, why not one to reproduce?

I agree with this because...
Wouldn't you like the chance to rid your future child of all cancer genes, trisomies, etc.?
I would.
I would've loved to know before my son or daughter was born that they'd never have to go through what I went through with cancer..or the numerous other family members that had the various cancers...or that they or their children wouldn't be affected by the Trisomy 13 that my sister was born with and eventually died from. I would love to spare them that heartache.
I can't say that I would go as far as selecting their hair/eye color or size of nose, etc. but if it were strictly for genes and there was no adverse affect on the baby....I have to ask, Why the hell wouldn't you?
I don't want to hear anything about God or the like because I don't believe in all that bull.
I do agree with the person who said there should be a test of whether a person can be a parent 100% but to the person that said "it should be what you get... thats life!" If you had a 'Harlequin' baby, would that be your response? That's life! I doubt it. Obviously, that's an extreme case but if something like that could be prevented..why wouldn't you prevent your child from suffering?

I didn't realize I was supposed to base my morals on what is fun.
The same could be said about cars...if God intended us to have them, he would have created our legs differently, no?
-
Designer babies i hope not like chihuahua fads or anything else thats hip and people get rid of them after the initial facisnation ends
-
My ideal baby....one that grows up to be about 11 or 12, bypasses the teenage years and goes straight to being an adult that actually thinks I know a little sumthin!
