Thank-you and Same to you.
Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.
Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, in his General Order No. 11, and was first observed on 30 May 1868.
I always loved this poem by Moina Michael.
We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies

I would like this holiday weekend, only if the rain would stop.

Thank you and the same to you. Our freedom is precious that these service people fought for and gave their lives. Let's protect it with all our might!

Same to you too and to everyone. Enjoy the holiday everybody. :)

God bless all our soldiers' families. May God be with them always. I want to say THANK YOU to all of them.

As an honorably-discharged former member of the U.S. Armed Forces, I'd like to express what fellow military members remarked to me while I was on active duty. "Unless 'g-d' is bringing extra ammo along, no thanks." As for military familes; they know the risks and and the sacrifices involved. They also know that there's always a chance their military family member isn't going to make it home alive, (and that such specious 'blessings' cannot ensure this). Not only are there atheists, agnostics, satanists and wiccans in "foxholes" - there's Lots of them. The U.S. Armed Forces aren't 'religious crusaders'.
I want to say THANK YOU to all of them.
You're welcome. Although my military associates and I depended far more on one another's targeting accuracy than some hypothetical supernatural beings to make it home alive, the sentiment is appreciated nonetheless.

Thank you for sharing the meaning of Memorial Day. I, too, really like the meaningful poem. Thanks to all who have given their all and may we always remember them, including my grandfather and father. Just a side special thank you to all of you who have served, and/or serving even now, including my husband, father-in-law, and oldest son. :)

I hope everyone had a nice Memorial day. I had to work but my heart was filled with thankfullness for what our Service Men did for us for fighting for our country. My father fought in WWII and my Brother serviced 20 years in the navy. My Grandson went to Iraq 2 times and came back ok. I had another grandson that was in the Navy for 7 or 8 years. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.
