my grandma's rhubarb was so delicious.
And, when I lived in Poland, they had a jello cheese cake.
The cheese was from Switzerland ( a certain texture) and the cake was topped with jello. Fruit was put inside the jello.

I would have to say my mom's potato soup with dumplings. OMG. It was fantastic. Also miss her meat loaf and fried potatoes. Never did find out from her what she did to make the fried potatoes so yummy. There wasn't anything my mom didn't make that wasn't good. Sure do miss those dinners she used to make us.

My mother made cookies. She used to make the "no bake" chocolate oatmeal cookies and she put them in my school lunch when I was young. I don't make them, myself, very often because they don't fall into a healthy category but....
I might have to make some today.

My grandmas are not good cooks so nothing... But my mom is a good cook and I love everything she cooks. Actually I'm visiting my family (in Japan) end of this month. It's been 2 years since the last visit. I'm so excited to have my mom's yummy food ;D
-
My mom made the best chili, and the best potato salad, I have never been able to get mine to taste as good as hers always did.
-
My moms lemon merange pie. It was so lemony and piled high with fluffy white toasted merange, and also my great aunts peach cobbler with the sweet peaches and cispy sugary crust. These were Sunday dinner regulars at our house when I was growing up.
-
my grandma made stuffed bell peppers w/ cheese...it was awsome

My mom was an amazing cook. Her Spaghetti sauce, Meatloaf, Pork and Sauerkraut, Pot Roast, were all excellent. I can't remember anything she made that wasn't delicious. She was even a wonderful baker! I make her same recipes and they taste pretty good and people compliment me on them. However, I think my mom was a much better cook. I know I really enjoyed it and remember all her special dishes really well. I guess when someone else makes it, it tastes better!
-

My grandma was the best cook, everything she made was soooo good. She sarted teaching me how to cook at a very early age. I still have her old cookbook and her favorite hand written recipes. I use them a lot most of them i know by heart. But am always trying out new recipes. She also taught me how to tweak on them to make the new ones even better. I love to cook.

My grandmother made a chocolate butterscotch candy that I have never know anyone else to make. I am the only one in my family that still makes it yet they all love it. I have to make it at least once a year for everyone in the family lol !

Without question it's my grandmother's Stushkee (plum dumplings). Wrap Italian Prune Plums in a homemade dough, boil, then serve with melted butter and sugar sprinkled on top. My brother and sisters and I all can't wait until the end of August/early September to stock up on Italian Prune Plums and hope for a good year when they are big and juicy. Shame they are only in season for a couple weeks out of the year - makes this dish super special!

My Mother made the best coconut cake. My father would kill the coconut and they would grind it up and it was so good. I miss his cakes. I make my coconut cake and buy bakers coconnut and boil a little coconut long enough to get the juice out of it and poke holes on top of cake and pour the juice on cake before I put icing on it. I use the 7 minute ice recipe and that is always good. Hope everyone has a nice weekend and may God bless each of you.

My mom made a FANTASTIC liver and onions dish (which I learned the secret) because if you have never had it or had bad liver and onions...there is a certain way to make it and it is soooo good when you do it right! Thanks, Mom!
-
Isn't it something how our parents and grandparents made a dish...they even sometimes give us the recipe and we still can't seem to nail it? My Mom makes the best home-made pizza...the crust is so light, buttery and fluffy.. her sauce is so simple yet so sweet. It takes her all day to make it. I ask for it for my birthday dinner and now my oldest even asks for it for her birthday dinner. This last year my youngest was sick on my oldests b-day so my Mom busied herself all morning, afternoon and into the night than drove across town for delivery...Pretty cool for a 76 year old Oma!

My grandmother's fried chicken--had it every Sunday for years and years. I've had a yen lately to try the strawberry cake my mother used to make--a box of strawberry Jello and strawberries mixed with a white cake mix and a strawberry buttercream frosting. Can you say YUM!!! I knew you could. That cake recipe must have been pretty popular because it is in several church recipe collections I have that were put together back in the '70s--and I've seen a similar recipe in a Paula Dean collection.

I loved my grannies homeade biscuits. I would stuff myself wiith biscuits before I could even get to the main course of my meal. All of her food was delicious.
-
I never really appreciated it when she was alive, but now that she's passed away and I don't get it at least once a week, I really miss my mother's chicken. She used to make it with this really amazing lemon sauce.
-
My grandmothers stuffed cabbage rolls and chicken noodle soup are my favorite foods.
-
My Mom is a pretty crummy cook. But Grandma made the best beef stew and chocolate pie. When we would go to visit, no matter what time we showed up it was always ready! YUMMY!!!! My Mom makes an earthquake chocolate cake, we call it that because it is always falling apart, sliding around on the plate (HA HA HA). Sometimes we call it spoon cake, because the flavor is good, just sad to look at, but you can eat it off the plate with a spoon, you usually cannot try to cut it up! LOL
-
it's not really a dish but i miss my grandmothers coconut candy she made.
-
duch oven gavery and biskets is the best and green chilli I love
-
This might be an conflict because my favorite dish was made by my aunt, not my grandmother (mom don't bake) or. She made this pudding that had to be baked and when it came out of the oven, she made everyone to be still (quiet) because it had risen so high that the slightest sound would cause it to sink or deflate. The pudding had the look of an muffin but it wasn't. When you cut it and pour the lemon custard over it, man o man, them were the days. :angel11:

my favorite dish my mom ever and still does make on occasion would have to be this delicious buffalo style chicken sandwich that has this great sauce that is one of a kind good spicy, not too much !!!
