Title: Who is your hero?
Post by: sherryinutah on June 19, 2012, 06:44:34 am
Just finished reading the RIP Rodney King post where someone mentioned that he's a hero.  A couple of other FC folks questioned why someone would give him that title.

Do you have a hero?

If so...who is it?  Why is that person your hero?

I have my own personal hero.  He's a friend who has been there for me when I didn't want to ask for help.
He was there for me the day I had my tonsillectomy in April and he picked up pain medication for me.
He's there for me through the good, the bad and the ugly.

My Mommie!!  She has been there for me when I had my first son (16), there when I had the second son (23), when I lost my husband 4 years ago, and now still there for me.  She is my wings and the Lord is hers.

I have many heroes and role models. The only one I actually knew was my grandfather, and he passed away a long time ago. He was just such a kind, modest, christian person. He would do anything for anyone if it was for the good. Just like every human though he had his flaws.

I would also consider Ghandi, MLK, Tupac, Abraham Lincoln, our founding fathers, and Jesus Christ heroes. Once again they were all human, the important thing about heroes is to try to take on their good qualities and throw out the bad ones.

"j.c." was no more a "hero" than Adolf Hilter was, (after selectively 'throwing' "out the bad qualities").

My hero is my father. He taught us to be proud of everything we accomplished regardless of how insignificant.

I don’t have anybody I can rely on except for myself. I can’t expect everyone to owe me so I would say my inner strength (wisdom if any) is my only true hero.

I also thought u had to have a hero in someone famaus or a super hero. But as I got older all I see is my dad and my mom and my 1 year old they are my heros with every thing they have been through and they still are the happiest people I know and never coplain. MY son Has had 2 brain surgerys in the last year and half, and he is the happiest baby I know.

my #1 hero is God

Interestingly, some would consider that egregore to be the #1 archvillian.  Religious superstition causes false attributions.  Endeavor to be your own "hero" for others in many small ways.

Who is my hero? Well my favorite fictional super hero would be spiderman! But when it comes to real life I think anyone who has been good to me or kept me on the right path would be considered my hero.

My heros are all the brave, young men and women who are losing their young lives daily while fighting for our country in Afghanistan and other places.  I dont know them personally, but I have the deepest admiration for them all.

My grandmother was my personal hero. I didnt know a lot about her life until after she died and I found her personal history. So if your grandparents are still living talk to them while they are still here and you may find out things you never would have known.
