The calendar says it's the first day of summer, but I already have sugarplums dancing in my head. I've already gotten a Christmas cross-stitch book in the mail and am beginnng to browse websites for early gift ideas. Does anyone else out there do any early shopping or get an early start on making gifts?

Not making plans don't celebrate.

I am trying to save points on some earning sites for Chritmas. I think about having enough for Christmas presents.

Kids last day of school was Friday, we are just starting to enjoy the summer. Maybe in a couple o fmonths we will turn to Christmas.
-
Goodness no. The most planning I've done for Christmas was looking with some coworkers today at when it and other holidays fall, and then bemoaning the fact that it's on a Tuesday so we don't just get a long weekend out of it.
-
no. We don't start get ready for Christmas last October.that's when I think he's just thought order catalogs for Christmas. Christmas time is that after that time you started shopping July was up early next January! So I will start looking the thing about Christmas October or November.

Nope, not at all. I have no plans honestly, never do. I don't think I'll even do any decorating this year. I might just set up some lights indoors this year, and none outside. I love the holiday lights, so that's probably the only thing I'll do (which is really the only thing I do every year).

I've already bought my cat's their "big" Christmas gift, found an awesome price on some cat furniture on Ebay--got 2 different ones for the price of what one would have been at a pet store. :cat: It has got me in the mood to do Christmas BIG this year since we didn't have much of one last year.

It's funny to see this on here today because I just asked my kids to start giving me a few ideas. Love the holidays!!!

Well, even though years ago I used to prepare for Christmas around September, I have not ever thought about it in June or July at all. And the past 5 years or so, I only started to think about it in late October, early November. But hey, everyone does things different. I do believe that is it better to be prepared the not prepared at all.

yep ive been keeping a list of what family may need or want and putting back some money :icon_rr:

Absolutely not. It's just another day when you on't have family. People who keep reminding us of what we do9 not have are simply cruel.
-
I am not making plans yet but my children are making plans for me. LOL
-
You are much more organized than me, I'm just happy that's it almost the 4th of July and Christmas is months and months away!
-
Nah, it's way too early too think about plans for Christmas
-
No ! It's 5 months away. I usually do it 1 month before.
-

I have to say I am already thinking about some paintings I want to do for Halloween!!! I'm not gonna hate on your Christmas spirit!!

Usually, I try to start gathering presents for my kids in January when there are sales. That didn't happen this year. I still haven't started collecting them yet. I hope to get some money put together so that I can soon. I have 6 kids, so even a few presents each takes time.

Christmas for me is easy. I give gift cards or get their lay-a-ways out. My family is particular.
-
you must take it one day at a time

I'm sorry for whatever the circumstance(s) you are going through at this time in your life. Christmas doesn't have to be "just another day" though unless you really want it to be. Certainly you have friends? Perhaps you can think of some children whose parents are having a hard time and so the kids won't be having much of a Christmas...and help make their Christmas a little brighter? Instead of focusing on what one doesn't have, be thankful for what one DOES have may brighten your holiday. Be a "gift" to someone else who doesn't have any family and who might be feeling lonely during the holidays (whether it's someone in a nursing home, sick in the hospital, etc.) You have the power to make not only your holiday season bright...but brighten it for others as well!! :peace:

I think gift cards are a great idea, especially for people who are picky or are hard to buy for. I like the lay-a-way idea, too.
