AFter moving in to a house near the end of summer last year - from nearly twenty years of apartment living - I was excited to think about the garden I would have this year. That garden is now a reality. My tomato plants are growing like wild, flowering now. The cucumbers are starting to develop - little thin strips of beginning cukes - and the radishes! So red at the base of the stalks. The green leaf lettuce is full and ready to pick 'n eat. And my watermelon plants are starting to show tiny little melons...the spring onions are cropping up - and my cats will go batty over the catnip planted!
Did anyone else start a garden this year?

Wow, you sound so excited I hope your garden continue to grow well. I live in a house but also have a pop belly pig in the back yard. She will think it all belongs to her if I planted something.
I have used flower pots to grow veggies in the past and that worked well.

I'm right there with you TimeTravel - I moved into my house 2 years ago after 16 years in an apartment (not counting college years...). I haven't started my garden yet, but am building a raised garden bed this year and planning my garden for next year. Hoping to plant some berry bushes - blueberry, raspberry, maybe blackberry...then deciding upon other fruits/veggies - like strawberries, cucumber, zucchini, rhubarb, carrots, onions, green beans. May try some herbs in the shaded areas too. At least I have most of the winter to keep planning. Undecided on tomato plants - I'll probably add those in as I love making homemade spaghetti sauce. Thinking about maybe trying potatoes too.

I planted my potatoes in the new bags with the holes in the side to see how they will do. They have gotten taller just not sure how many potatoes are out their.

Glad your garden is doin so well. We got a late start and are having a drought, so ours is not off to a good start. :sad1:

Not into gardens. I will go to the produce store to purchase what I need. As a child growing up, we had 2 huge gardens and I hated all the hard work it takes to maintain a garden.
