Did you know that the food we eat can sometimes be a migraine trigger. For instance... When I eat beef, I get migraines real bad in the middle of the month, I would have to say about 2 or 3 in the morning. My head pounds so hard that it wakes me up. I vomit without a warning. I can only eat chicken and turkey. Since I stop eating beef, I dont suffer from migraines in the middle of the night unless I eat some chocolate before I go to bed. Have you noticed it? :crybaby2:

There are food triggers that can prompt migraines. The most common are certain cheeses and wine as well. I suffer from migraines myself, but I cannot ascertain any food connection (except that if I am late on a meal I have a higher probability of having a migraine the following day).

i've found anything with a lot of sugar in it can cause Migraines

Spicy foods, and spheghetti sauce also trigger my migraines. I found that ironic also, that my body rejects it like beef does. If I wait too late in the day to eat, I will have a migraine all day, and I will not eat. I sure do miss eating spicy buffalo wings and lasagna. :dontknow:

My dad gets migraines when he eats chocolate and nuts....I get it for lack of sleep and dehydration.
-
A lack of sleep can also be an issue for me. But worse of all the cigarette smoke give me an instant migraine.

I've been fighting migranes for years. Several different drs and no results. Finally after a ct they found a problem with a blood vessel around the brain. Medication has helped me immensly.

Things with sulfites have been theorized (red wines). There are lots of different types of migraines though, with different triggers possible. I have frequent occular migraines and lose vision- it usually happens when i have been in bright light and straining my eyes. My neurologist told me they no longer look at migraines as a bad headache, but an actualy neurological disorder with evidence that damage occurs to the brain. :'(

I have migraines really bad and when I quit eating meat period they have pretty much stopped. But now I get them once in awhile because ever since I had hysteractmy I been getting around that time of the month for some reason. My hormone levels are normal so doctors and I cannot figure it out. LOL. Also since I stopped eating meat last summer I have dropped 75 pounds too. So it was great to stop eating meat. I have never felt more healthy in my life.
-
Thank you all for the insight. I actually never thought about meat causing migraines. I get horrible complex headaches and have tried everything to get rid of them.
-
I knew there were triggers, but I didn't know food could be one of them! I used to get frequent migraines during my high school years. It took me two years to "grow out of them." Now I rarely have them, and if I do, it's because of dehydration.

There are also studies suggesting that wind (especially certain types) can trigger migraines.

Including the breaking type?

I didn't know any of this & I suffer from migraines!
-
Migraines are trigger differently for different people. If you have migraines learn what your triggers are so that you maybe able to control the migrains.
-
I've done that, and boy do my diet sucks! I can only eat chicken and turkey. But I look at the bright side, at least I get to eat healthier now.

I've been having migraines for 13yrs and the doctor's could never figure out what's causing them. Reading them it makes me wonder if what i'm eating is causing the issues?
-
The pain from Migraines is all in your head!

If you're the type of migraine sufferer that gets those funny flashing thingies in your eye sight (or sometimes it actually cuts off your peripheral or full vision), did you know that if you pop two Tylenol while the flashing is going on (BEFORE the headache appears) that it will cut off the headache?? Try it, works every time!
-
Yes iam aware of that!
-
Stress is the biggest factor. Sugar highs and lows. Lack of or too much sleep are all factors. Tylenol however is a bunch of fooey. Motrin 800 is the only thing that gets rid of headaches or migraines. Do you know caffeine is also a source. If you take Vicodin or norco it can cause headaches.

I am doctoring for migraines and one of the questions she asked is if I quit drinking coffee. Apparently it isnt wise to quit cold turkey.
-
I dont get migraines tooo often unless its stress related, however i have REALLY bad luck with heartburn no matter what i do! ughhhh
-
I knew that food, air and stress cause migraines..
-
I get them from time to time...but can't pinpoint what triggers them...and my daughter in law gets them several times a month....neither of us can narrow down what food it is that we eat that brings them on.....IF it is food that triggers
