Title: Tazed

My son will be getting tazed Monday, why do they have to do this in the police academy  :sad1:, I am sooooo worried for him, please pray he makes it through!!...thank you!

Ouch - I hope they have medical personnel on stand by, that is scary.

Thanks everyone, I think that it is standard to have medical help there, i'm hoping anyways  :sad1:...I wish he had told me this after the fact UGH

I didn't realize that was part of their training.  He'll be okay.

It's not something he has to do he voluntered, but he does have to get pepper sprayed as well, that he has no choice  :sad1:

I have a friend in our local police department, and everyone there had to be tazed as part of their training.  I think it has to do partially with giving an understanding of how the tazer affects the one being tazed - so it's not used lightly.  Plus, I think it's also due to having first hand experience in case they are accidentally tazed in the field (like "friendly fire").  Having experienced it once, they'll be better prepared in the unlikely case that would happen.

All I know from my friend was that it hurt like hell.  He didn't really elaborate much beyond that.  But everyone in his group was fine.

Yes I heard that same reason for getting tazed, I watch the cops get tazed on youtube and by the looks of it i'm sure it does hurt ALLOT....i'll be glad when it's over for him. he's taking it better than I am lol
