I don't think I can be paid enough to go into a dark house that has no lights on or was labeled haunted..I don't know how anyone isn't scared and can spend a night in a place like that they must have a strong back bone I've watched to many scary movies in my life its just not gonna happen. :confused1:
-
It depends on who is the the dark with you :) I don't watch scary or horror movies because of the terrible things shown in them. Some sicko sees those terrible things and put these ideas into action.
-
I used to be afraid of the dark when I was younger and I used to watch Chuckie movies. I used to think he would crawl out from under my bed and grab my feet. :crybaby2:

Downside of an overactive imagination. I'm only afraid of the dark when I'm feeling particularly imaginative and I begin to think about what could be IN the dark and sometimes even begin to see stuff. It's like in those little kids movies where they see a monster and it turns out to be an ugly sweater or someting.

yeah i agree with that lol

i love scary movies. i love reading fiction/horror/suspense novels. but for some reason i'm terribly afraid of the dark as well :dontknow: lol. i'd rather dig my eyeballs out with a spork than be stuck in the pitch-black dark. eeek!
-
Not anymore LOL
-
I am afraid of what's IN the dark !!!!hahahahaha
-
loins tigers and bears oh my :icon_rr: :icon_rr:
-
Im not afraid of the dark but whats in the dark is anouther story :crybaby2:
-
uhh,...I guess I am. It sounds like we all have that in common, fear of the "unknown", or not knowing whats there and you're not able to see it watching you. Then, I think it is all in yor mind, because that is where it all begins. At least that's my opinion.

I'm def afraid of the dark because I have seen a few ghosts in my life and thats mainly the time you see them is at night when its dark. I was terrified, have you ever been so scared you hid under the blankets even though you were sweating to death cuz you were so scared lol I have had that feeling when I was younger when I saw a ghost of a little boy at my bedroom door. :-

I just happen to have such a sweater....LOL
It's not that I'm naturally afraid of the dark so much as I have a HUGE imagination. So it's more of being a little scared of whats IN the dark. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I have night-vision, so it's not too hard picking out little details. Also, I own a hamster, who happens to be NOCTURNAL. So I'm used to things that "go bump in the night".

Ghosts? That would be JUST what I needed to go over the top...ughh. Ghosts and aliens and monsters, oh my!
And I'm SURE that has nothing to do with the fact that I play Gears of War a lot....

I am absolutely terrified of the dark, which is quite foolish as I am no longer a child. In addition to that I also have an over-active imagination, which makes my fear about a million time worse. My electricity bill is always quite ridiculous, as I can't stay in my house without all the lights being on. I also am completely frightened of those getting robbed at night, and being a casualty stories.
-
i thought you meant the SHOW, are you afraid of the dark? haha.
...i must admit that at times, i am.
i mistake the cat jumping up on the bed
for a man in a ski mask coming to get me...
also, i like to sleep with one leg under the covers
and one leg ontop. but i've always had this
strange fear that someone will chop off the
leg that's out in the open.
um, weirdo much?

i'm in my 30's and still afraid of the dark and i'm relieved to hear that other adults are, also. my husband just went to the night shift and i can't sleep. i hear every noise and i know that ghosts/spirits are around us all the time...i'm afraid to find one standing at the foot of my bed. every time we take pictures in the living room - something shows up in the picture and it only happens in one corner of the living room. i am so freaked out and sleep deprived!
-
I have not been afraid of the dark since I was like 5
-
Not anymore LOL
How did that happened? I don't like the darks at all!
-
that was a good show too :P

It's not really that people are afraid of the dark, but rather that people fear the things associated with nighttime and darkness. It's not that people are childish, but that they are more succeptible to their imaginations.

Thank you. I like that! so true because i am completely fine when my husband is home nights. when i'm alone, that's when my mind plays out everything bad that could go wrong.
-
I think im slightly afraid of the dark. I mean we all know its the same as when its light but there is something about what you can not see that is just plain creepy. My mind plays a lot of tricks on me in the dark.
-
No i'm not afriad of the dark
-
I don't like being in the dark. I used to be scared to go into my parents basement after dark. Too many stories on the news about burglaries, kidnappers, rapists, child molesters. Of course these people aren't people of the dark, the dark just hinders my vision so that I might not have as much warning that they are there. So I take precautions, and try not to put myself in places that bring in this type of people, but I don't live in fear life is too short to live that way, we need to enjoy what we can.

:crybaby2: Yes , I'm still afraid of the dark and in my fifties. I have to have a light on when I go to bed. :-[
-
I'm not afraid of the dark but i used to be
-
I was when I was younger and the I grew out of it until recently when I watched that movie.."The Exorcist of Emily Rose".Then it had me waking up 3am every morning.Kind of freaky. If you hadn't seen this movie, I would seriously recommend it.Especially if you like those scarry movies.....
-
I'm not afraid of the dark guess I have just gotten used to the fact that the worst things that can happen to you usually happen in the daylight.
-
Maybe if i went into a haunted house alone.
-
honestly somewhat i am more scared of not being able to see if i could see very clearly in the dark i wouldnt be as scared i always need a little light on at night

I get afraid of the dark at times, especially after watching a horror movie. but if someone paid me alot to go into a dark haunted house I would totally do it, but just not alone.

Oh man that's the same thing with me. I was like four years old and I walked in the living room where my sisters were watching TV and out pops a psycho doll with a scar on his face and laughing crazily with a knife in his hand. I'm still scared of dolls to this day. When a doll that my mom kept in a room went missing I slept with a crowbar in my hand. :'(
-
ONly running into things. Kitty usually runs into me. I can not walk very well yet, still going through physical therapy and I tend to run into stuff, hence, my legs are not healed yet. so yes, sometimes I am afraid of the dark.
-
:) No, I am not afraid of the dark. When I was a kid, I was afraid of the dark...of the unknown...not anymore. As a matter of fact, I have night vision...when my friends are afraid, I help them go through the dark. To help conquer this fear, you should buy and take with you a flash light.
-
I used to work 3rd shift at a truck stop and during a bad storm one night we lost power quite a few times. I was very afraid then. I made sure I wasn't very far from the guys I worked with at all times.
-
No, but as a kid I was afraid of the toe monster.
-
If I'm already in the place before it gets dark, then I'm not. :icon_rr:
-
No, I find the dark comforting and sleep better if there isn't any light in the room.
-
No, not really. I can actually handle it without any problem. It just depends on where I am and the animals that I can find in that place.
-
I find the dark to be peaceful....Unless you are out in the woods without a flashlight and hear a lot of noises.
-
nope

no

This is a very good question. I would have to say that I am personally not afraid of the dark. I am afraid of what may be in the dark. This all started when I was about six years old. I went to my father's house for the weekend and he had told me that I had to watch the movies "Chuckie" and "Pet Cemetary" with the adults if I wanted to watch my "Disney Channel" afterwards. I had never been scared of what may have been in the dark until then. I got home from his house on the weekend and started to scream when my mom turned off the lights. To this day I know that there is nothing there and I know how I feel is not real. Although, there are those times that I will jump 10 feet out of bed so that I am not standing by the "under the bed" to get a drink of water. It is that sense of fear that projects me to run as fast as I can to turn the light on that I can not get rid of. Do any of you guys have any suggestions?

most of the time

when i was little, terrified, it got better as i grew up, but im still scared....

I have always enjoyed hiking in the wilderness and most always solo hike(hence the name Walksalone).
A couple of years ago I started hiking at night and was immediately blown away by how transformed the woods and nature as a whole are after Grandfather Sun slides beneath the western horizon.

I'm not exactly afraid of the dark. Though my husband did something really silly and like to scared me out of my skin. I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night thinking he was sleep, I turned the light off before coming out trying not to wake him and when i open the door he grabbed me.
Crazy huh?
-
I have a night light in my room. :D I don't like not being able to see what is around me so you could say I'm afraid of the dark. :dontknow:
-

Me myself no i am not, but surely there are people that are.
-
No but i can not eat in the dark i get scared of choking or something idk just a fear
-
I have never been afraid of the dark. However, there are some places I will not go if they are not well lit. A dark alley for example, A basement in an abandoned house etc. So I guess it's not the dark I'm afraid of it's creepy places.
-
terrified when im by myself...especially outside or in a creepy house
