I would like to  know how meany would like to get there grocery drivel to there home if it did not cost very much more than at the store?

I endeavor to avoid "grocery drivel" whenever possible.

do you mean ''driven''?
for those unable to drive themselves, or those who feel
like a burden having someone else drive them to the
grocery store, a think grocery driving service would be
very beneficial. i think these exist in bigger cities...

i'd probably look into it if i were in that situation, but
as long as i can walk and drive and have all the means to
get to the grocery store, i definitely wouldn't use it.

I love to shop at the stores. What you see is what you get! Avoid junk food, buy cleaning household items only.

That is one thing I hate to do, groceries shopping.  Remember a long time ago they would deliver the groceries to your house.  Wouldn't it be nice if doctors made housecalls again.

Depending upon where one lives, some stores, (such as Safeway, for example), still deliver - for a fee.  As for docter housecalls; these are still done for some housebound patients, (at least in limited areas and for a limited time).  It isn't quite like it was prior to the 70's or so but, some residuals echo the past.

First fast food restaurants (Burger King is doing this (http://www.adweek.com/adfreak/burger-king-tests-home-delivery-137676)), now grocery stores. lol It wouldn't be so bad, but I like to look at my groceries in person to make sure i'm getting what I want and need.  That and I enjoy using coupons.

It would have to be unbelievably inexpensive (like free) for me to consider.

It's a nice thought but I would still prefer to shop and bring home my own groceries. On a rare occasion I may opt for delivery.

I don't mind shopping for groceries and other household supplies.

Especially now that I earn cash back for my purchases at Walmart, Walgreens, cvs, bp or Exxon Mobile just to name a few of the participating stores.

I like to give Walmart gift cards as gifts so now I earn cash back on my gift giving as well.

It depends on the cost for this service, my mood (sometimes I don't mind getting out), and the reliability of the freshness of that particular store's food.

Not sure if I would be interested.  I don't really care for grocery shopping but since the kids have left it's a whole lot cheaper!

I always thought that they should have a drive thru for much needed items.  Sometimes when you only need one item and you have sick kids or aren't feeling well yourself, it would be helpful to have it come to you...but again hate paying those convenient prices.

I don't think I would want mine delivered because I am very picky and look at the dates on everything, if someone else was doing the shopping for me that wouldn't happen.  I hate grocery shopping but I think that is one task I can not give up to someone else.

Even though it would be nice to have my groceries delivered however the cost and I still prefer to to pick out my own food especially. It would be great if they would come to house deliver them and put them away. That I would love espesically in the winter! :peace:

I agree. Food prices have risen along with gas prices and the delivery cost would be a big factor for me. Gas prices would factor big into the delivery cost. My budget is limited so I can't see investing in that, but if it was from a really reliable store and the delivery had good customer service I would like if I had the budget for it. It'd be nice to have things delivered when you don't want or can't get out. Especially in bad weather like another member said. I don't think it would catch on a mass scale though, but I would be interested in it if the price was right.

If I had the enough money and I trusted the store where I get my did my shopping I would take the delivery for sure this way I could avoid taking my 2 year old in the store thus avoiding the temper tantrums.

You did not mention about the conditions (minimum purchase order) of shipping/delivery costs because businesses still need to make a profit. I don’t think it’s possible to get groceries delivered at our door without considering other costs as well. For example, most perishable items and fresh produce will deteriorate quickly under hot weather if not handled by the workers who will store them immediately in the refrigerator to ensure the quality that will be delivered at your door. Who would pay for their services? I think it’s still a better deal to get out of the house and buy groceries the old way.

I much prefer to do my own shopping. It's not my favorite thing too do. But when you have to go out of town to save money (even with gas and food) you really watch what you buy. The meat is so costly in this small town and everything else is usually .10-1.00 more then shopping out of town. I make a list and stay within it. Also buy for a month.

It could be great for some people.  My mom would really benefit since she doesn't have a car.

Maybe the delivery fees would be off set by what you wouldn't spend on impulse purchases.

I've been thinking about milk delivery. Does anyone do that?

I like to grocery shop myself. I think home delivery service is good for those that have a hard time to get out of the house to food shop. I care for my elderly Mother who is 95 and sometimes it is difficult when I have to run out just before dinner for a few things. I don't like to leave her alone and usually do my big shopping when she's in bed for the night.

I would think everyone would love to have their groceries delivered.  The shopping is bad enough, then you have to come home, unload the car and put groceries away.  Yeh!  It would be nice.

They do offer that service, but I haven't tried it. I guess it would be good to avoid impulse buying. I always manage to grocery shop when I a hungry and buy more than I need to. Last week I spent 190 on food and that was for just myself. Thank God, I manage not to become overweight and wear a size 2.

I order what food I can through Amazon and Dollar General websites to get it delivered for less.  I would definitely order groceries, if I was still able to get the sale prices.

You would miss out on unadvertised specials and markdowns with home delivery.   I live less than 5 minutes from a grocery store so would not save enough money on gas to compensate for the savings on clearance items.  However, you also would not be making unplanned purchases so could be an advantage there.  Would definitely take some planning.

It would just be another waste if money so I would continue to go to the store myself.

I know it is wierd, but I do enjoy grocery shopping.   I do secret shopping so a big part of my groceries are free, so that is probably partly why.  I have had groceries delivered every once in a while, when I have just to much going on.  I also have called ahead and just had to drive up to pick up the groceries that were already bagged and ready to go. If you buy over a certain amount they will carry the groceries right into you kitchen, and it is free.  So I have started trying to get cleaning and paper goods about every 10 or 12 weeks so they bring it in for me, it is a stress  and back reliever.  The only drawback is you have to have enough room to store it all.
