Title: James 4:8
Post by: DontLikee14 on October 25, 2012, 09:51:56 pm
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

James 1:2-8 (NIV)

2 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do."

I used to only post the King James Version KJV,) but not long ago on a thread in here, someone explained they couldn't always understand the Old English way of speech, so now I either use the New International Version (NIV), or both when I post.  I prefer the KJV, myself, but the NIV is a great translation, too.  Anyway, here are the verses from above, in the KJV:

2 "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways."

“Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of xtianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites.”

By the way, welcome to FC!  Since you are still pretty new, you don't have to post a separate Bible verse thread each day - it gets kind of hard for those who enjoy them (and some who oppose) when they are all over the place.  It is a lot easier if you, for example, post a verse daily in a same single thread.  This one is a great thread for starting, and now each day, you could post your new verse in this same thread.  I bookmark my threads and will come to check them daily.  It's a lot easier to have the one thread of verses moving along than trying to keep up with way too many floating around.

Thanks, and I hope you are enjoying FC!  :)

Thank you, falcon9!  I had not even noticed!  I really should thank you for having a part in helping me to succeed to that level, lol!  "Yakky" - good word for it!  :)

As you probably know, we don't actually get anything for moving up a posting level, though an FC staff member did make a virtual 'nameplate' with "Platinum" virtually incribed on it, (the one I use was an MS painted design).

Yeah, I know - I was joking!  I do like your little one, though.  I'm not good at stuff like that, though.
