i want to start a blog but how do i do it

Check out popular blogs for inspiration. Also, look into a free blogging service to get started. Remember you've got little time to get people's attention. So get to the point. Hook them.

Reading other popular blogs will be helpful. I would also recommend reading a lot in general. Reading will improve your writing ability and could give you more ideas for your blog.

Decide what you want to write about. write it.
Your question is not: I want to start a blog that gets read by a lot of people.
There are whole industries devoted to the 2nd topic.
Your question is to vague to give you a great answer.
Also, I am limited to the number of posts I can make in a day. So, I am not sure we can have a very meaningful discussion here. Also, I don't have message capacity.
you can find my blog on google if you search zaccote. you can get a hold of me through that. Its just a site i mess with for fun. But I know a bunch of stuff and can give you all the links and advice you need, if your serious.
Oldbuddy is right, about monetization of your internet realestate. It all boils down to what are your goals

I think one of the most important things when starting a blog is providing good content, that will definitely catch readers and keep them coming back :)

I assume the main reason to start a blog in the first place is to monetize it, so why put your future on a free service like Blogger where you have NO control over what happens to it? They pull the plug on hundreds of blogs for reasons only they can determine sometimes. All that work down the tube in a heartbeat just to save a couple of bucks a month, NO THANKS!
The only logical reason to use Blogger is to syphon traffic from other Blogger blogs, but be prepared to have them terminated any time. If you are the least bit serious about blogging, start of with your own domain name and a Wordpress blog.

The real problem with replying to this question is the lack of information that the OP has provided us.
I hope that Sarwall can come back and fill us in on some of the goals she seeks and/or what paths she has taken to what success or failure. What are her apprehensions, expectations, concerns, budget etc.

i want to start a blog but how do i do it
I just started writing a blog sarawall. Just to get going and then I cut and pasted it to notebook. Before this month is out I will start trying to as OldBuddy said, monetize it. Several weeks back after reading some othe comments by OldBuddy I went and took a look at Wordpress. I looked at the company I used to have a domain name with but, I see recommendations for another company. One thing I would suggest to you, search for some of things you have questions on. And read a lot more of the forum comments, some of these questions have been answered already. That will save you time and allow you to ask questions on stuff you can't find in your searches.
