Most of the theaters in southwest Ohio offer this or a discounted rate on Tuesdays as well as discounted rates everyday for showings before 6 PM.  Tuesday must be slow day for all movie theaters I guess.

half-price days are mondays in my town (northeast ohio).
if we're desperate to see something, that's when we go,
but honestly there hasn't been many movies in the
past year that i was willing to pay money to see. we usually
just stream them online... but the movie experience is fun
once in awhile.

We're 90 min. away from Chicago and there are a couple of theaters out this way that offer Free fall and spring matinee's on Saturday and Sundays...showtimes are 10:00 & 11:00 a.m.  They are usually kiddie shows from past seasons.  Works out good for us Mom's who wanna take there kids and friends to the show.  They still get ya with the cost of popcorn and drinks but at least refills are only a $.25

I didn't know movie theaters did that. I'll have to check around here for that.

The theaters in NM have reduced prices for their matinee times seven days a week.  Albuquerque also has a couple discount theaters that show movies after the full price theaters are done with them.

One here does buy one get one free on Tuesday which is basically the same as two people getting half price tickets. This theatre is already pretty cheap at 4.50 for maintees and 6 at night. They usually also do a free showing once per week in summer for kids

We have $5 movies on Tues here in Las Vegas, plus they have a good popcorn/drink special. It's very nice during the day to go, no lines and usually an older crowd so no crying babies

I do not know whether this in done in Southern United States.  However, Tuesday half-price movies sound great to me.

Haven't been in a movie theater in years because it got way too expensive.  Used to have a dollar movie but they closed several years ago.  I'd rather just rent from Redbox.
