Post by: ktheodos on November 10, 2012, 08:38:33 am
Happy 237th Birthday to the Marines - Semper Fidelis and thank you to all those who serve and continue to serve. So grateful for your sacrifice - and happy Veteran's Day to all. Thank a vet this weekend and every day!

Great thread!  I would like to add my thanks for all our veterans' sacrifices.  We have attended two great Veterans' events this year and have one more to go.  One speaker who was  unbelievably interesting told of his experiences as an 18 year old boy in the infantry who marched into one of the German prison camps and actually helped free the prisoners.  He has since connected with at least two of those prisoners who were staring out at him from behind the fence.  His name is Jimmy Gentry and he has written a book.  I'm so glad I got to hear him tell his story.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is sacred to Veterans and we should never forget what they did for us

I thank all that have entered this thread! I am a retired veteran (22 years). What I would personally like to see is that the country unites around the Wounded Warriors of Iraq and Afganistan, these veterans have sacrificed the most. Although, I appreciate every veteran (I guess you would have to be a veteran to understand), these individuals have sacrificed the most - almost 40 percent of the wounded lost at least one limb. I know alot of people would say - well they knew that going in!! Yes they did know it going in and did it anyway, that alone should be a cause for respect and admiration.
