Wait for it ... wait for it ...
Too Funny hahaha! ;D
-
What? When did this happen?
-
I got me some twinkies, 1 pack of cupcakes and 2 fruit pies yesterday. Everything else was sold out. :bs:
-
I figure someone will buy the company and Twinkies will continue to be produced. It's just too well a known name for someone not to want to continue to produce it along with the cupcakes and everything else. They say a company from Mexico is interested.
-
The company is going to sell off the brand names along with the recipes...these products will be back.
-
They won't blame Obama for this one - they'll blame Michelle
-
there was a little hostess store right down the road from us ,,im gonna miss it :BangHead:
-
I haven't eaten any of those in a couple decades so not a huge loss for me. I found some of the news channels were having fun airing clips of "Twinkie" references from Ghostbusters and Zombieland.
I saw one station has a reporter in an Albertson's (I think that was the name of the grocery store) - standing by their Hostess case. When I first saw it, there were a couple holes on the shelf where the reported indicated the Twinkies were now gone. They came back to her about a half hour later, and the shelf was almost empty. She interviewed one customer who was picking up boxes of either the cupcakes or ding-dongs, and he said his friend texted him to go to the store and get as many of those boxes as he could because his friend had a buyer on E-bay willing to pay $300 per box.
Absolute craziness if you ask me...
-
Crazy people are "TRYING" to sell twinkies for over a $1,000,000 saying its the last box on earth ::) .... Anyways forget twinkies what about Wonder bread!!!!! :dontknow:
-
Twinkies and there other hot products are not gone forever, some other major company will pick them up.
-
Hostess shutting down is nothing more than a strategic business maneuver. Hostess, unfortunately, allowed unions in. The bakery business has narrow margins but was forced to continue paying higher than average wages with employees that have limited output. Hostess went through Bankruptcy twice and the union didn't wake up. I listened to a radio show the other day and Hostess employees were saying that they couldn't afford to work at a lower wage...well how does not having a job pay the bills?! Hostess will have a short period of closed doors and than get picked up by a a foreign corporation that can bring in cheaper labor. The Twinkie is safe.

I am sorry that you think is the union fault. When dealing with a union it is a 2 way street. There are give and take by both the company and the union. Sometimes it does work out for the best for either side.
-
i love hostess products, im gonna miss it
-
I know I'm sad. I don't really eat them but maybe once in awhile for a treat.
-
i too think that the plant will reopen in a few months or so-- someone will buy it and hire people who are just happy having a job--the employees might make more on unemployment but taxes will have to be paid and unemployment will run out and then what when you cant find a job at all?? --saw on ebay someone had a case of twinkies for 250,000 dollars!!! really??? i can think of lots of things i need more than twinkies for 250,000!!
-
The way people are buying their products up and selling it online, shows how popular their products are. Anyway another company might buy them up, so it will still probably be around.
-
I did like the cupcakes, but I have not had one for a long time. :female:
-
Rumor has it that a Mexican company may be positioning itself to resurrect the golden Twinkies. :angel12:

Unions just add unnecessary middle men into the equation. In the end, the lawyers are the only ones that benefit.
-
i liked them once in a while but i have no problem with life without them lol
-
I know there some people that like the Ding Dongs & their Ho Hos. :D
-

This is what I have been saying. The people paying highly inflated prices on craigslist and ebay are going to feel pretty stupid.
-
just heard on the news that the shut down has be postponed and may not happen at all-- probably because so many people went out and spent a arm and leg on stocking up on the stuff!!! maybe this was all to see if people would buy ????
-
oh no i love wonder bread. hope we can still get that.
-
Its a shame to see how the rich, big time union have cause 18,000 people to lose their jobs. Its crazy of the people too, because they trusted the unions more than their common sense to keep their jobs, and be able to take care of their families.
-
Well probably good news, it was reported today that likely the rights or whatever to Twinkies will be sold and some other company will make them so good news for Twinkie lovers and bad news for those trying to sell them for inflated prices on the internet lol
-
Personally, I always liked Tastikakes better.
-
LOL@people trying to cash in Hostess going out of business
At least Twinkies are not gone for good. I'm just now reading about the recipe being sold to another company.
-
I do not understand why the bakers union thought it was better to have nothing instead of a little less. Probably because of the government paying them unemployment insurance, welfare and food stamps. This mindset drives me nuts. Eventually there will not be anyone to pay all of these benefits.
-
I couldn't believe how much the hostess are going for on these sites and people are really buying them. I told my husband don't eat the hostess but he ate them. I told him don't you understand you just ate $50.00. These hostess are big money. :dontknow:
-
Twinkies are ok, but I have to agree with the wonderful chocolate-y delightfulness that is the Hostess Cupcake. I love the thick, chewy frosting and the soft fluffy cake... Darn you all for putting the thought in my head! haha
-

I was never a twinkie fan either. I'd rather make my own cakes and fill them if I really wanted something of that nature. I've heard that some people stockpiled them well before they went out of business because they wanted easy access to them- now they're benefiting because they can sell them at high prices. Way to get rich people- now if only I'd thought of that!
-
I don't understand!!!! how can a company that makes twinkies and so many other great snacks that every body loves so much go out of buissess :dontknow:
-
They are really gone I went to the grocery store yesterday and there was no sign there was no sign that hostess ever existed. I'm going to miss my Wonder Bread
-
too bad they lost there jobs, they should have taken the pay cut
-
This is crazy but I hope you all know exactly why they shut down. It does suck but their is hope in store in thinking that someone is going to buy a portion of the hostess company but it will never be the same. The strikers are the ones to blame in this situation but then again they should have been treated fairly too..
-
I rarely eat these types of sweets, but it'll be strange for them to not be there anymore. It's crazy that people would pay so much for them on ebay, though.
-
This is the first I've heard of this. ???
-
No more twinkies :(
Sure we'll be missing those bites.I really like those bite cuz easy to have them for fast snack. Very sad.....:(
-
The unions are ruining this country. Yes they are always trying to get more money for the employees, but the union dues are awful and it goes into the union bosses. They are the only ones getting rich. Not the lowly employee. All they can do is pay the dues. I am not for the unions just thinking of the employees. Now they won't have a job.
-
It was so sad when I heard hostess was closing it is sad to see a good texas. company go in such a pathetic way
-
they went bankrupt but they didnt close. i have heard alot of things about this and people are :crybaby2: about their nasty twinkies.
-
I like Hostess treats (not that I always eat them), but this is not the first time I believe they went bankrupt either. I am hoping based on the news that another company will buy the branding and restore to a degree some of the tasty treats. I'm still a sucker towards the twinkies.
-
I grew up on Hostess, but haven't eaten anything but the occasional apple pie (the pocket size) in years. I've heard about the uproar about this situation, but haven't paid close attention. I think they're reconsidering or something. :dontknow:
-
No more twinkies :(
The really sad part is that this is all over those silly union disputes, now 18,000 jobs are gone
-
Yeah it has definitely been madness, I'd figure even if the name brand never comes back, there would be plenty general store brands coming up with similar items or products; I understand it will probably won't be the same, or taste remotely like it, but if it never comes back, we just have to move on, the other option you have is to pay thousands of dollars on ebay for the so called "last Twinkies on earth", lol.
If I ever crave Twinkies that much, there would have to be a real zombie apocalypse for me go ala "Tallahassee" in search for the last Twinkies.
-
Well, it is an end of an era. With Hostess going out of business, there will be no more Drakes either and of course no more wonder bread. Sad.
-
they went bankrupt but they didnt close. i have heard alot of things about this and people are :crybaby2: about their nasty twinkies.
Actually they did close and are liquidating their assets.
-
I like Little Debbie
-
they might return and be made in mexico
-
Ya it's sad to see Hostess gone. I love their twinkies!
-
sad,,im relly gona miss wonder bread,,my grandpa loved ho-hos,,, :icon_rr:
-
I will miss the twinkies, also I heard little debbie went under too is that true?
-
??? Ok its just crazy about ebay having twinkies for so much inflated price. I didn't like twinkies that much anyway and hardly ever eat junkie junk but my mom loved the Hostess cupcakes but then Little Debbie has something similar enough to those. Someone will come out with a version of twinkies or buy the "formula" lol.
-
well wasnt that big of a fan of them so im good
-
No more twinkies :(
Don't be sad because there's no more Twinkies - think about it this way - be sad for the people who LOST THEIR JOBS AND ARE NOW UNEMPLOYED!!! Those folks didn't need this to happen especially around this time of year - so be sad for them. As for the Twinkies themselves - well, let's face it - you'll probably live longer now that you won't be eating all THAT POISON!! Remember TWINKIES LASTED FOREVER!!! That just means they were chock full of ALL THE THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T BE EATING ANYWAY!!!! So, get a good recipe for a snack cake you like, learn how to bake it yourself and enjoy every single bite - CAUSE WHEN YOU MAKE IT - AT LEAST IT WON'T CONTAIN PRESERVATIVES AND STUFF YOU CAN'T EVEN PRONOUNCE!!!!!
-
I wasn't really a fan of their food to begin with, but it does suck that more American jobs were flushed down the toilet.
