I grew up on Miracle Whip.  It's sweeter and has spices for a more complex flavor.  A few years ago I had opportunity to re-taste mayo and discovered I like that too.  True mayo is just eggs, oil and vinegar.  My favorite is the one made with olive oil and seasoned with pepper.  I use both depending on the use.

Try making a turkey wrap with Miracle Whip, turkey, red chile sauce and fresh cilantro wrapped in a tortilla.  Yum.

Also try the olive oil and pepper mayo on a BLT.   :notworthy:

...I grew up with Miracle Whip, too.  My bf can't stand it, so I have both in my house.
...The other night I made spinach artichoke dip with Miracle Whip and he couldn't tell the difference.  Love pulling a fast one on him.
...Peace be with you.   :angel12:

Miracle Whip is ok on a sandwich, but I prefer mayo for cooking.  Come to think of it, I usually prefer Mayo on a sandwich, too.

I actually used to only buy mayo (Hellmann's) but once I met my Fiance all she would eat was Miracle Whip. Now I only like Miracle Whip. I do find a different taste. For sandwiches, tuna salad, pasta/potato salad, etc... it has to be Miracle Whip. With french fries only at a restaurant though it has to still be good 'ol mayo.

I've not used Miracle Whip for cooking but I use it more often than mayo.  If I'm not mistaken, it has fewer calories.  I don't even have mayo in the house right now.

:cat: I am a mayo fan and yes, I can taste the difference in mayo and miracle whip. Rather it is an ingredient in a recipe (like chocolate cake) or spread on bread for a sandwich. Miracle Whip has a more salad dressing taste - more vinegary.

I prefer Miracle Whip. For the longest time(many, many, years) I have been using Miracle Whip without realizing that I was not using mayonnaise. Who knew it was dressing. I was totally blind-sided by the fact that the product looked like mayonnaise, so why would I need to read it  ;D  ;D if it looks like a duck(mayonnaise), taste like a duck(mayonnaise) then it must be MAYONNAISE, lol, lol......................

I do not eat either one, I won't eat it in anything either, I usually have to take hamburgers back into restraunts because they put mayo on them.

Even though I don't buy it that much, I definitely choose Miracle Whip. That's all my mom bought when I was growing up. I like the sweetness of it. I have never bought mayo myself, although I have tried it. The taste is too plain for me.

I don't really cook with either one but I can tell a slight difference with putting one or the other on sandwiches or in cold salads like potato or macaroni.  I think miracle whip is slightly more tangy but at any rate I like both.

I grew up using Miracle Whip but never liked it very much because of the sweet taste. After reading all the posts I'm going to try Mayo with olive oil and see how UI like that because I have the feeling I'm going to like it much better than Miracle Whip if it isn't sweet tasting.
