I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
-
if nothing else, the house i own someday WILL have wood flooring!
i don't care if the carpet is brand new, it's getting ripped up and
if there is only wood sub-floor, then so be it! i'll pull out a can of
wood stain and make that sub-floor look gorgeous.
i just can't stand the thought of how much dirt, oil, allergens,
and other such nastiness is in carpet. i hate it, plain and simple.
-
I've had carpets in most rooms for more than 40 years. Agree that vacuuming only picks up the surface dirt and a lot of dust and allergens probably do find there way into the carpet and the cushion underneath.
But I like the feel of carpet underfoot -- especially on cold winter mornings.
-
As far as I am concerned wood is the only way to go because it is much easier to clean and keep it cleaner.
-
I'd prefer hardwood floors with throw rugs on them to add a bit of warmth and color. :)
-
Wood floors are much more easy to clean in my option over carpets. ><
-
Wood floors.
-
I love hardwood throughout the house, but in the bedrooms I prefer a very good quality of underlay, with a great quality of carpet :dontknow:
-
i prefer carpet.its warmer to walk on and my feet stay cold
-
I prefer carpeting. I hate to mop and vacuuming is easier for me, so I would just prefer to have carpet. You just have to be careful not to spill anything since the stains are difficult to remove, but that will be fine if you are careful with your eating or don't eat in that room. But never in the bathroom. I remember having a carpeted bathroom in two places I lived in and I hated that. So carpet for every room, but the bathroom and kitchen.
-
I like carpet but now wooden seems to be popular now days .
-
I love hard wood floors.....I like carpet for the warmth it brings to my toes....
-
I have wood flooring the last time I ripped my carpet I said never again it was so gross the dust hair just yuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All that stuff that gets trapped vacuuming does not do it if you saw what was under your carpet you'd never have it lol. It is warmer but I prefer a area rug over the wood
-
I like wood floors. They are easier to keep clean.
-
I think wood would be cleaner but here in Missouri, half the year is miserable going into the kitchen with the cold linoleum floors so I'm not sure I'd really like it.
-
We have carpet in our home now, but when it's time to get rid of the carpet I am going with hardwood floors. I think its much easier to keep clean and would be better for someone with allergies, (which I have)
-
i do carpet eveywhere except kitchen,,bathway and front door entrance
-
I love wood floors! The dust and crud that gets caught in the carpet is just nasty!!!
-
We have hard wood floors and they look pretty and are easy to clean but like you said I miss carpet because it does make it more homey and comfortable!
-
I agree I really want wood floors !! CArpet is just so dirty and hard to keep clean just looks hideous i want wood floors so bad
-
I prefer wooden floor. It's easier to clean.
-
Both. Carpet for the bedrooms and living rooms, and hardwood for kitchen & bathroom floors.
-
Hmmm, I love the feeling of a nice *bleep* carpet under my feet but I have only wood floors in my home. My aunt Has both carpet and wood floors but will be building a new home shortly and refuses any carpet. There are pros and cons to both. Carpet is soft, warm, comfortable and a good heat insulator. Though it is more time consuming to clean, can get stained, some dogs/cats like to pee and/or scratch on them, dirties faster and could with hold smells. Wood floors are easy to clean, won't stain, don't carry dust and dirt the way carpet does. But wood floors are not as warm on your feet can swell/lift if too damp or wet, after years will start to make noise and crack as you walk on them, they fade with sun. To each their own. I prefer wood in my home, just find it easier all around.
-
while I do admit that wood floors do make a room look nicer, I perfer having carpet!! it's so much warmer and more comfortable to walk on :)
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
I always prefer carpet to wood floors. It feels better on the feet
-
I hate cold feet so I like carpeting. I've had dogs and cats so I own a steam cleaner. I would think claws would be hard on wood floors, but they do look good. I grew up with throw rugs and hate them. Besides animals don't understand how to navigate them very well. For hard flooring I'd be more prone to vinyl or ceramic tile.
-
I prefer carpet but it depends on the room. Have hardwood in the entry and den but it's the type with v grooves so not as easy to clean. Usually want to put a throw rug down for comfort anyway. Never had anything but linoleum or tile in the kitchen.
-
I love hard wood...then you can put down throw rugs. I haver asthma and I breath better without carpet...
-
We have hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs. I like how much easier it is to wipe up a mess on the wood floors, but hate getting out of bed on a cold floor. We don't wear shoes on the carpet in an effort to keep them cleaner. I do hate how when the sun hits the hardwood you can see any dust or dirt. I feel like I need to sweep everyday. They both have pluses and minuses.
-
We used to have carpeting, but I got so tired of cleaning it. When we made our most recent move to our retirement home in the country (my husband's parents farm that he inherited), we took out all of the carpeting and installed hardwood floors. Much easier to clean, and we can use rugs where we want.
-
Vinyl floors for me, yes we have two dogs and it sounds like they have on high heel shoes.
-
I love a wood floor but carpet is nice. I would rather just put an area rug onto a wood floor especially if you have pets.
-
In my previous home (in another country) I had wooden floors throughout the house - they looked stunning and as I lived in a semi-tropical climate, there were no worries about cold floors, etc. However, here I am doing house cleaning for other people and it is far easier just to push a vacuum cleaner around on the carpeting. The tiled and wooden floors show up all the scuff marks and spills - especially if there are pets or little kids around. Hard work!!
-
There was carpeting throughout our house when we bought it; older house and different color in each room. lol Did not like that but we lived with it for a little while then we replaced it with good quality carpeting all the same color. After years and years of suffering with allergies and sinus problems we ripped it up (and yes, it was very disgusting what was underneath) in every room except the formal living room. There was really pretty wood floors underneath so I cleaned them and polished them on my hands and knees and they looked beautiful! Every room had the wood floors except the bathrooms, the den and the kitchen; that was inlaid tile and not easy to deal with so we put lanolium on top of that. Since then we have put laminate wood down in the den and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms. Not gonna say I'd never do carpet again in the bedrooms but not while we have an inside dog and cat. I love the wood but it is cold especially on pier and beam houses and I don't use rugs because of the animals.
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
i like the look of wood. it also easier to clean.i have carpeting in the whole house but my cat is ruining it.
-
Wood is easier to clean, but carpeter is nice to lay briefly down on even though they're not as good for people with allergies. But on my next change I might consider Cork.
-
Carpet floors suit me, just fine.
-
I prefer carpet everywhere besides the kitchen and bathrooms. Since I have dogs though, I only have carpet in my bedroom.
-
We have an older house and once the new roof is on and the rest of the new windows I will be pulling up all the crudy carpet and cheap flooring in the rest of the house and putting in wood floors. after i get all the painting done. That means all the awful trim they had in here goes too. Some i maybe can keep but it will be a lot of work stripping and then repainting so not sure on that yet. bathroom has tile so it will be the last job. Oh lordy why did i think it all could be done. But gives me something o look forward too.
-
I got a wood floor put in my bedroom because my allergies are so bad. :BangHead:
-
I like hard wood floors. Carpet is warm and comfy but they will have lots of dust.
-
i have wood floors all thru my house but my home is older so my floors tend to get cold in the winter so we went out and got a large piece of carpeting and laid it on the floor is is not tacked down so wwvwry summer we can pull it up and clean the floor underneath
-
In the house we just moved out of we had to take the carpet out of two rooms. Luckily the living room and dinning area were tiled. The house we just moved into has NO carpet...yay! It has the nice wooden tiled look. It's so much easier to keep clean with animals. Even without animals you're tracking in dirt and stuff. :cat: :bunny: :dog:
-
I love carpet but I will have to agree with the people with animals which we have it would be floors much easier to clean when you have animals :peace:l
-
LOVE carpet~I'm always so cold and wood floors, though beautiful, make me cold!
-
I prefer wood floors. It looks so classy.
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
Yes definately wood is better if you have pets...we had our carpet cleaned last yr. because we couldn't afford wood floors but just so happened the company ruined out carpet and now we have wood floors...a blessing in disguise...God does work in mysterious ways! :angel11:
-
love my bamboo flooring....looks pretty much like any traditional hardwood flooring, but nice to know that bamboo is a renewable product.
-
I have carpet in all my room except the kitchen, utility room, the master closet and the bathrooms. I love carpet in the bedrooms, but would love to have wood floors in the living room and den.
-
wood floors look nicer
-
I like wood floors in areas like the kitchen, hallway, etc. But in a living room I just prefer carpet, more comfortable.
-
wood floors are easier to clean. i still have a milk spot on my carpet from when my niece was over months ago. i dont have a spot cleaner.
-
definitely carpet, warmer and I hate creaking floors.
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
carpet i think is better over all cause can always clean it. wood floors suck i have them and scratch to darn easy. plus wood is cold in winter and you can always upgrade your padding for carpet
-
Carpet is the bomb!!! I love the fel of soft carpet under my bare feet. However, hardwood floors have its place. Right now, it's in our kitchen.
-
I prefer the comfort of a quality carpet and pad...better for knees and heat costs. However it is host for dust mites and is a definite no no for those with pets and allergens. You know what I really like decoratively is when people have hard wood floors then insets of carpet in the middle of the room where there seating area is. Comfort where you need it and style to boot.
-
I have carpet throughout my house, but I would prefer wood floors, they are easier to clean. I am hoping to save enough money soon to change the carpet with the exception of the bedrooms to wood floor, I will keep carpet in the 3 bedrooms but everything else is going to be either wood floor or tiling.
-
Rugs are filthy and hold too much dirt inside them. I cannot stand them. I prefer hardwood floors. Cleaner, easy maintenance.
-
both, for me it depends on what room and how much traffic passes through there 8)
-
I know hardwood floors are the current decorating trend, but I love my carpet. Our first house we owned as a couple had hardwood floors and I had to wax and buff to keep them looking nice. They also scratched easily. Probably there are scratch-resistant finishes that we did not have at that time, but I like the warmth and plush feel of carpet as well as looking over a sea of color in a room. If that dates me, so be it.
-
I prefer wood floors. I have a cat and I love not having to vacuum...I just use my swiffer. During the cold months I make sure I wear my bedroom slipper since the floor is cold.
-
carpet for me i love it
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
i like them both but i think wood looks nice. i just like the look of the wood.
-
I love wood floors cuz they're easy to clean, especially when u have kids.
-
I prefer wood to carpet - much easier to keep clean.
-
I recently got new sheet tile for my kitchen. There are some nice patterns top choose from.
Maintenance for our building uses a contractor.
-
i like the hardwood flr because sometimes carpets may cause allergy
-
Yeah, I prefer carpet floors over wood.
-
I have animals and live out in the middle of the woods, so our animals get fleas and with carpet you can't get rid of them so over 10 years ago I tore out all the carpet and put lanolum down, still had a small flea problem but no where as bad with carpet. When I got married we moved in to a bigger house which is on the same property and my brother owned it and built it but never finished it so we layed floating floor which is wood and hardly no fleas.
-
I have two cats and I know wood floors is the best way to go.
-
Carpet feel good on your feet it make the room so comfortable.
-
I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?
I PREFER CARPET IN THE BEDROOMS AND WOOD FLOORS REST OF THE HOUSE OR APT......
-
In the winter i like carpet because it is warm on your feet and more comfortable.
-
I have carpet in my home office and it's just a pain. I wish I had wooded floors in here. But yes, I agree with you on that. Pets and wooded floors are better together than the other.
-
I have both, but I think my wood floor is harder to keep clean. Shows every single thing, a water spot can ruin your freshly polished floor.Although it looks nicer then carpet.
-
Definitely wood; it's easier to clean and always has a rich looking appearance. We've gone all wood for those reasons.
-
As my daughter quoted : Pressing for a Blessing, sounds good to me . Everyone have a healthy and blessed day !  :D[/quote]
-
I have a new puppy and I agree, wood floors are much better. We are still potty training. What fun! We are working hard. I am sure we will get it down soon!
-
I use to say carpet but since I have had carpet and children I say hardwood all day. When they are grown and out the house I can have carpet again
-
HAVE AND LIKE BOTH
-
I love my hardwood floors! Just had them re done a few years ago and they are terrific!
-
I pefer carpet. I can walk barefooted not feeling cold
-
I think both are good to have but I will choose carpet because it is soft and it gives you something comfy to walk on; it makes the house look good
-
I like both. Although, I prefer to have more carpet than wood. Carpet is more comfortable than wood, and really is easier to care for. I do really like a nice wood floor though, as long as it's not in a bedroom.
-
I love both. Wood in the traffic areas and carpet in some rooms.
-
Wood floors looks nice, but I do like to vacuum carpets!
-
Carpet is cheaper but wood is prettier. I totally agree that wood is cleaner for the most part. You spill anything on carpet and it's so hard to get out. But if you have a cold winter carpet is better.
-
We have carpet but I think wood would be much easier to keep clean. Wood floors also seem to be a major selling feature for new homebuyers.
-
Wood floors but I will still have carpet on certain areas!!
-
I have both carpet and wood floors. I mostly have wood flooring in high traffic areas like living room, master bedroom and hallway areas. Mostly just carpet in other bedrooms. I find wood floors are easier to keep clean.
-
I like carpet in the bedroom and hardwood elsewhere....
-
I personally agree.
Our house has NO insullation. And landlord doesn't want to do anything about it.
Carpet at least keeps floors comfy and warm.
I do love floors.. whether hardwood.. or some other flooring..
but... having two dogs.. I would have to sweep all day long!!
That would drive me insane.
I vac at least once a day... and well I have no problem with that.
So I guess.. carpets in house...
Flooring in kitchen and bathroom...
and would LOVE a little flooring by the front door.
We have carpet and it gets wore down..
Good interaction question. :)
Happy Earnings!!
-
I have carpet now but the other house I had had hardwood floors and I really like them. Hope everyone has a good day and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.
-
I've gone along with whatever was in the house that we purchased, BUT, if I ever build a home, it will have wood floors...
-
I like wood floor it easy to clean than the carpet, but I like carpet in winter time, because its warm.
-
I would love to have wood floors for my dogs, but they are very expensive. So we got carpet. :dog: :dog:
-
A wood floor is simply one that hasn't had the carpet laid yet.
-
Wood...I don't like carpet, It stains. You have to constantly clean and vacuum it. Ain't nobody got time for that.
-
I hate carpet-the odors become trapped and no amount of cleaning can get it out. I love Hardwood floors.
