We make an annual trip to our CPA's office. He always finds more money for us to receive back than H&R Block ever did.
-
Yes I do my own taxes it is easy.
-
Yes I do my own plus I do some family members returns as well. They are all simple forms so they are easy.
-
Yes, I've always done my own and sometimes friend's tax returns as well. I hated paying for it. :peace:
-
Yes, I use FreeTaxUsa.com, and have for years. They are authorized by the IRS and they make it easy.
The program/website walks you through every step. You can go back and forth if you want to change something
up until the last minute when you submit. You can also compare this years with last years while you are filling it out.
The federal is free and the state is 10.00.

I have always done my own online and never had any problems. Simple life, simple taxes.
-
My father used to do our taxes for us but when they got to complicated with the children and the earned income stuff he stopped. Now H&R Block does it for us. We like the piece of mind they off us.
-
ABSOLUTELY! Unless they are super complicated, everyone should know how to do their own taxes.
-
I've done our taxes for years. And I also do my mothers'. I am relentless in my pursuit of the tax deduction.
-
I still do my own taxes - not a whole lot of complicated stuff in mine. I've been using TaxAct online to do mine. Perhaps if I start investing in the stock market (some day), I may consult with a professional to get tips on how to leverage my investments for minimal tax impact.

I actually do my own as well. Although I feel some tax preparation companies, usually overcharge people, I don't feel it's too much; they are professionals and they have to charge for their services accordingly, after having to earn their education and credentials, and you know they will probably do a good and reliable job. Maybe not great, but good. There are some people, however, that overcharges and they don't even have the credentials, nor the experience. It's very ambiguous because some people without credentials sometimes know more than those who have them. So it's a trial and error, you try someone and if it works and you are satisfied then you might stick to that person. That person could be yourself. I find I don't have a complicated return, it's pretty much wages and that's it. So I only require a simple easy standard form, that I can do on my own. For very complicated returns, that need complex procedures, I'd probably look for a professional.

Well, Turbo Tax and I do my own taxes :P
-
No, I do not. I use to before when we were just using the 1040Z, but know I let the CPA do the hard work.
-
Yes I do! I have been doing my own taxes since 1988. Lately I have been also doing my daughter's and Son's. They don't seem to have a clue on taxes and what is the use of them paying someone $100 or better to do their taxes for them. I normally get turbotax premier, so I can file up to 5 Individuals taxes and get free filing for all five, with 1 state.

I used to do my own taxes. I worked for a not-for-profit Social Service agency in Chicago as an Accounts Technician. I then volunteered one year to do taxes for low income people and the elderly at The Center for Economic Progress. I enjoyed it very much. This year, I did my husband's taxes on the computer.

You know I never did my own taxes but this year I took the plunge. After all with all the "free" services around it's about time to save some money!!!
-
yes I do ours and most of my family's as well.
-
We send our papers off to my husband's family friend. She does our taxes and doesn't charge us too much to do them either.
It's nice because she's someone my husband trusts and she's really good at tax stuff.
-
If you want to save yourself some $$$$$, you should do your own taxes with the easy step by step software out there.
-
Starting next year i'm going to do my own.
-
No. I have a tax preparer do it.

-
i do my own as well using TaxWise. i am self-employeed Single status so i for sure have to pay dammit >:(
-
I do and have since 1988! I finished mine on Wednesday night and e-filed them that night. I figure I should get my return by the end of the month!
-
NO, I have my CPA do them and have always gotten back very nice refunds. I am self employed, do
payments quarterly, own several properties, it is just so much easier to have a person do this who know all the new deductions every year. The guy that does mine is a former IRS employee. :BangHead: :BangHead: :crybaby2: :dontknow:
