I couldn't do it, there has been times where I could do one meal and some snack, but next day I'm hungry and need to eat something. I guess if I slowly started eating less and less, there would be a point where I'd get used to it, and would be perfectly fine with one meal a day. If today, I would start doing one meal a day, having lived all my life with 3 meals a day, I wouldn't be able to function normally. Maybe a sporadic day here and there, but consecutive days, no way. I'd also be worried about not getting enough nutrition, unless that single meal would be coupled together with some supplements or something.

It depends on who it is. Trust me, I don't see it happening in my family anytime soon. My husband, on some mornings, eats breakfast; on some mornings, he tells me he is fasting but eats a big dinner. I have only seen one person in my lifetime eat one meal a day, and that was my late friend's brother. But he ate dinner for breakfast and it lasted him all day. I can't tell you that about me because I need to lose a few pounds or more but I love to eat.
-
I used to do it quite often! I was working 86 miles (one way) from home and I would normally only eat lunch. I was on the road for breakfast and by the time I got home, I just wanted to go to bed. I would say I felt tired alot but, that could have been getting out of bed at 4:30 am and getting home at 8:30 pm, a 16 hr day 5 days a week. You got to do - what you got to do though!!
-
Wish i could eat only one meal a day.Hate shopping for food, cooking food and cleaning up after yeah food.Like food that is already made like take out but expensive. as long as you feel energy and don't loose to much weight seems ok .
-
I can do it if it's one big mean, but I don't like to.
I like eating three small-ish meals and two snacks between those meals.
-
I only eat two meals a day ,I love breakfast. :icon_rr:
-
Never tried it every body is it's own machine but a person burns calories faster if they are constanly snacking (healthy) way faster way of burning calories
-
There are some days I only eat one meal but it's not on purpose or by choice. I always end of gaining weight when I don't eat smaller meals throughout the day so I try to avoid it
-
I remember in one episode of 'Bizarre Foods', Andrew Zimmern, the host, met a Japanese inventor who only eats one meal per day. He told Andrew, it was best to only eat one meal per day.
-
Oh no I couldn't do that my stomach an head would be killing me
-
My mother hammered the importance of breakfast and I just cannot do without it. I do eat frequently and graze or I don't feel well. Always 3 meals a day.
-
It depends on how late I eat or how much I have eaten for breakfast or lunch, but normally no I don't think I could go for long without eating at least twice or three times a day. In between those times I will eat a snack or something to tide me over.
-
Not me. And more small meals a day is healthier for you.
-
I eat when I get hungry but that typically means one meal a day. There are some days (probably once a week) when I snack on and off all day other than that I only eat dinner. I don't think it is the healthiest way to eat but I have done it for years.
-
I do it every day

Some days yes and some days no...more no days than yes days :)

Sometimes when I am really involved in a project and don't do much physical activity during the day I have forgotten to eat my normal meals but that is pretty rare. My brother has always been fine with eating very seldom during the day without much trouble but I don't know how he does it. I'm sure it isn't very healthy to do all the time especially if you are missing out of good nutrients that you need to function because of it.

no you must eat 3 meals a day to be healthy
-
I do it every day
I believed it can function your body alright but not normally to your brain system! Human always need 3 meals a days and also snack
between each meal!! And thats really make functionall in every vein excellent and normal brains..  i sometimes have one meal plus snacks to function my brain straight. One meal a day ok but you wont be concentrating on your study... :-X except if you are catholic christian
that there is a month that people have to eat one meal a day about a week so...
-
No I definitely can't function on one meal a day. I work around food and I exercise 5-6 times every week so I need to eat a lot so I have enough energy to make it through my day.
-
most of the time we only eat two meals a day and one of those is a very small meal and yes I think its possible to make it on one meal a day albeit like you said may not be healthy. But you do what you can do and have time to do
-
If we’re not too active, ideally one meal a day should suffice. Instead of eating, I find sitting out in the sun for a brief moment helps me feel nourished as well.
-
No, I couldn't do it. It is not healthy for me. I try to make sure I eat throughout the day and I'm trying to incorporate more healthy foods into my life.
-
I've done it, but it wasn't planned. I'm not hungry when I wake up so I don't eat right away, then I get involved in a project and forget to eat until later. It usually results in two meals though, unless I have to change from my usual night schedule to a very early morning day schedule.
There is a dietary philosophy called something like restrictive eating where they purposely eat minimally for better health. I think that's like Dr Hymen's "Eat To Live" book. If you eat the right things and keep your blood sugar balanced it makes you healthier.
Different strokes for different folks.
-
I actually do okay with one meal a day. I'm not a big breakfast eater...so if I have one nice meal I'm not as hungry and I can kindof eat what I want.
-
Have to eat 5 or 6 small meals because diabetic.. before I was diabetic.. One or two meals a day, or catch somethng while I was on the run.. But now it is very important I always eat small 5 or 6 times.. :star:
-
I normally only eat 1 meal a day, and then have a snack in the evening. I think everybody is different, that might not work for the next person, but I have never been able to eat a meal 3 times a day.
-
:'( I don't think this is good to do every day but once in a while maybe. I have days were I want to eat everything and other days I'm not hungry but you should be eating when you can and try to make snacks to go granola bars, breakfast bars, friut snacks, almonds, this is our fuel we can't run out of fuel especially on busy days. and most important before eating drinking enough water.
-
I've tried this before, and I can honestly say that I can't function on just one meal. There's just too much time around the day where i'm hungry, and then if I eat that one big meal, I usually end up really sleepy.
-
I usually eat at least twice a day, but sometimes if I get up and immediately start working on a project or running errands I won't realize I'm hungry until later when I stop working. So there are days when I get one meal in and that's it. I don't know how good or bad that is for you, but if you feel fine I would think you're okay.
-
I don't think I can do it. Maybe if it's a well balanced heavy meal, other than that I need my three meals a day.
-
I can eat one meal a day when I have a busy schedule, otherwise I will have to at least have a snack to tide me over.
-
People only really need to eat when they are hungry or low in energy. There is no number of meals required.
-
I usually eat a really small lunch (like 200-300 calories) and a bigger dinner.
-
I do it quite often but snack the rest of the day.
-
Believe it or not my spouse eats only one meal a day with no snacking. He is very active during the day, so he will eat a big breakfast or a big lunch. My spouse has not gain weight since we been together for 26 years. I know I can not live like this.
-
Used to I could with just one meal when I was younger but now I have to have at least two meals.
-
I did it for a couple of years! It started on accident. I would wake up and start working. I would make lunch and not get to it until about 3:30. After I ate that, I wasn't hungry for dinner. It was the thinnest, healthiest and happiest I have ever been. And not hungry! If I was hungry, I would eat... but only a few bites. If I was still hungry, I would take a few more bites. Generally, a few bites would make me full again. I loved it and only stopped because I got pregnant. Now, I need to get back to that eating schedule. I'm ready for healthy and happy again.
-
I need my three meals a day. I eat a light breakfast, a good lunch, and a light supper.
-
I eat one meal a day every day :) It's called the warriors diet
-
I have done it, and I wasn't low on energy, but when it was time to eat that one meal, I was hungry by then. If I drink coffee with flavored creamer, or soda pop, that seems to stave off hunger and keep me going. It is really not healthy to do that, but when I am too busy, I will do it.
-
Function? maybe. :-X
Function optimally?? probably not. ::)
Healthy? definitely not. ???
-
i usually have at least 2 meals going with only one isnt easy or for everyone.
-
I function on one meal a day all the time. I have no appetite these days. I do eat supper (or dinner) as some people call it. I do want that meal. By that time I am starving! LOL!
-
yeah you can but it not healthy and good for you in the long road. People never seems to think about what they are doing to their body and how it will affect the them when they are older. Bulid a strong healthy body so your body will be good when you are elderly
-
Im able to make it through the day with one meal but it has to be a big one L0L

If I was given one big meal I would divide it up and eat once at breakfast, then five hours later. Five hours after that I would eat some more of it and five hours after that I would finish most of it up. Just leaving 100 calories if I was hungry later.
-
Yeah I could function on one meal a day.
-
I do that all the time. I always found it annoying how people assume that those who are over weight are constantly eating. That or how people tell you not to eat when you aren't hungry. If I do that, then I'll basically have one meal a day with some juice and milk that I drink throughout. When I was in school though I needed at least two to get through everything cause I had to carry a bunch of heavy books around campus so I needed the extra energy.
-
depends what the meal is....a huge difference between eating cereal or a huge meal as one meal.
can probably do it if I skip breakfast then skip lunch and eat sometime between lunch and dinner time and i'm good for the rest of the day.
-
I can do it especially becaue at times I don't have much of an appetite but I actually do better if I take and split up food into small meals through out the day with a small snack of fruit or nuts or something at some point.
-

I can if my family let me. :) I under weight so no one let me skip any meal. My friend she eat only lunch time, and she stay until next lunch time. I was a maze how she does that. No snacks between.
-
I have eaten one single meal a day, and felt sluggish the whole day. I function better with atleast two meals a day.
-
I might skip a meal here and there due to work (very busy), but this is not something encouraged to be done on a normal basis. If considering this as a way to diet there are better techniques out there. I normally have my three meals a day.
-
I occasionally have just one meal a day but I do better if I have several small meals throughout the day, such as a bowl of soup and a salad a couple of hours later.
-
I do that almost daily, I am not hungry before work, I have a lunch and when I get home I am pretty tired so I dont each much then either
-
guess it just depends on the person,,im sure i could,,but id rather not!! :bunny:
-
One meal a day! That one meal would have to be all healthy foods, well balanced, with all the nutrients a body needs and many glasses of water.
-
You can exist very well on one very nutritious, well rounded meal in the middle of the day. I do it all the time to loose and maintain my weight.
-
I do it all the time, I woke up at 4:11am and I haven't eaten hardly anything today. Although, everyone should try to eat something. It's not healthy for someone to go like that without eating.
