When I was growing up, we had dinner at my grandparents house every Sunday....it was great, we would all get together and have fun...we played ball while our mothers cooked and by the mid afternoon, the yard would be full of folks stopping by, all were welcome and could eat...I miss those days and my grandparents....

The bad thing about getting older is all the people who leave our company on the way. I grew up having a large Sunday dinner right after church with friends and family invited. My wife and I honestly can't cook worth anything so we go out to eat each Sunday as a family and occasionally with friends.

Yes I do every sunday
-
We pretty much always cook a big Sunday dinner. We have a nice breakfast also on Sundays.
-
Sunday is the main thing for my family. We look forward to family and friend that stop by after church.
-
I go to my grandparents on Sunday for a big dinner.
-
I use to, but since I now have to work on Sundays I'm usually to tired to cook when I get home and my children want cook one....I really want to start back cooking a big dinner on Sundays....
-
They used to cook big meals years ago. Not anymore. Those were the days.
-
When I was growing up every sunday dinner was just like the rest cooked on the other days of the week, unless it was a special holiday or something like that.
-
I go to church on Sunday and then I take a nap.. I don't cook much on Sundays, I make my husband cook
-
Nope...used to always have one every Sunday after church, but we just eat whatever now a days.
-
I sometimes cook a big Sunday dinner but not every Sunday...
-
I used to be the "main" cook at our house.
Now that I work every other weekend, my husband has become the head cook.
He does an awesome job!
Our favorite Sunday dinner is Roast Beef done in the crockpot overnight, mashed potatoes, and baked beans.
It is funny because this is the same meal I prepared when I was doing the cooking and it was what we had most every Sunday when I was a kid.
YUMMMMMY!

No big Sunday dinner, but a nice Sunday brunch :D
-
It depends on what happens on a given Sunday. Usually Every first Sunday of each month, we have a family get together at our grand parents place around the evening each family brings a main dish. So there's a lot of different varieties of food there. But on other Sundays, My family just have a simple main dish with a few sides. But usually in the summer almost every summer, I like to fire up the grill.
-
Growing up we always had big Sunday dinners after church. Roast Beef, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, peach cobbler. I always tried to keep the tradition going when my children were growing up also.
-
we are usually out and about and stop and get something to eat, because we are too hungry at the time to wait till we get home to cook
-
When the kids were little, Sunday dinner was the big weekend event. Since the kids are all grown, my wife and I mostly eat out on Sundays.
-
Spending time with family and friends is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon and evening. I have always appreciated those traditions as well.
-
My grandma use to cook a big sunday dinner for every holiday
-
Growing up we always did, but I just cook a normal meal now. Grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles are all dead and cousins are spread out over the country. Even my kids don't live that close like we all did growing up. It's sad, but I guess that's life now. :(
-
Sometimes. My brother and I live together but my mom usually comes over on Sunday so we cook something. My mother always cooked a big sunday meal when we all were at home but she isn't much into cooking anymore especially since my Dad died recently.
-
No not all the time but every once in a while I will eat out or either cook something like a small dinner. The only time I will cook a big Sunday dinner is like on a holiday or special occasion
-
I do cook big Sunday dinners but it's mostly big on holidays and special occasions that fall on this day. For instance, if New Year's fall on a Sunday I will cook a big meal that will last for almost a week, however, if the New Year's day falls on any other day I would either cook something simple, order take-out or just go out to eat.
-
I used to, but the older the kids get the less interested they are in the traditional Sunday dinner. Don't mess with the big Saturday brunch though!
-
For a lot of years and when I was growing up we always had Sunday dinner it was a day that the whole family gets together. We stopped it for a few years because we were all doing different things in life. My mom just pasted away a couple of months ago and it in someways made the family better and we are now having Sunday dinner again with all my family. It is great thing that we started again to bring back family it is something my mom wouldd want to do. But it is sad that it is with out her.
-
Sad that you waited until too late for your Mom. But I know she loves that you are all back doing it. We try to get everyone together on usually the first Sunday of the month. Otherwise the little kids change and grown too much!. It is almost pot luck, we give everyone something they have to bring. Butter and rolls. vegetable plate, side dish, dessert. Then we all get together but it is not all the work on one person. So we can all relax and enjoy.
-
No, we just have regular meals unless my dad does something special since that's not a work day. But, we don't do anything too fancy.
-
I love cooking big dinners, but this Sunday I was traveling so "NO"! But whenever possible I would love to cook a big dinner for family and friends, just because and to bring everyone together. ;D ::)
-
As a child growing up I remember having a big dinner or get together on Sundays. These days me and my family get to together for a casual meal and a movie to chat.
-
When my children were small, we always had a big dinner (we called it) after church. I loved the chicken dinners with all the trimmings. Now, its church and then traveling most of the time about 90 miles to have our big meal. My husband loves to drive!
-
no but i go out with friends after church for Sunday Dinner
-
no but I would love to start one day. It would be great to have that tradition for my grandchildren some day whenever I have them.
-
I live by myself, so usually I cook enough on Saturday so I will not have to cook on Sunday. My grandmother lived with me for awhile and that is what she would do so I got in the habit of doing the same.
-
We used to have a similar thing, though your's it a bit more idealic than mine. We would go over to see my grandpa and he would just sorta sit in his chair and watch his shows while we ate dinner at the table. I would've preferred to actually have spent time with him but after losing his wife and everything, I think he wasn't really interested in grandkids and such.
-
Used too when my grandparents were alive, And some when mother was here. Now we go out for lunch after church, then go out too see my day and take him several meals frozen for the week. He enjoys that.
-
We like to have a big Sunday dinner but getting everyone in one place is often impossible. I do a lot of cooking on Sundays though, I like to get somethings prepped and precooked for the week ahead.
-
hm actually my mother does ...didnt realize she still did that until I thought about it just now.
The difference is that when I was younger on sundays, everyone would eat at the table and now on sundays everyone just takes their food and go soit doesnt really seems like a big sunday dinner anymore.
-
Nope, just had dinner's anytime of the week!
-
It's depend on the day. We offend go out to eat on Sunday, because after tire time of work on week days we want to enjoy out to eat.
-
In our home, the Sunday dinners are a little special and elaborate. We spend time talking about family and stuff, and I always look forward to Sunday dinners.
-
There is no designated day to eat at home, but for Sundays I rotate on either cooking or going out to eat with family. The weekends of course has a greater likelihood to eat with extended family too, which is a treat even though I see many family members so often.
-
We didn't always have big Sunday dinners, but we often had big dinners with my grandparents. Both my grandmother and great-grandmother were quite the cooks. It was great having everyone sit around the big tables. I miss them every day.
-
Many years ago I used to cook a big Sunday dinner but living by myself I don't do that anymore, just eat the same as any other day - usually soup or sandwich.
-
Sorry to say but no i never do
-
I really cook a big dinner almost everyday... No sweets though.
Mother in law and I eat very good healthy meals everyday.
I wish it was cheaper to buy fresh veggies etc... in order to have more people/families eat healthy foods.
Just saying :)
Happy Earnings!!!
-
I always loved the idea of having a big Sunday dinner and I try to have something nice every Sunday!!
-
no,,sure dont,,nobody in my family ever did :dog:
-
My husband cooks on Sunday. He makes a special dinner for us every week.
-
Yes, my mother always made a big dinner on Sundays...I thought that was just something our family did. Apparently not.
-
No big Sunday dinners here as I work 4 out of 7.
-
Yes I like to have a big Sunday dinner and watch a movie.
-
I grew up going to church and then having a special Sunday meal with some kind of roast with the family.
I don't particularly follow that, although I miss it, I cook the same as during the week. I just plan a meal for whoever is home at that time and see what they want. My immediate family is grown now and just have 3 senior adults home now.
-
use to love it two
-
NO, I don't cook on sunday, unless we are low on money. We usually go out on Sunday to eat. We get out of church around 12:30 and by that time we are hungry; not to say starving so we go out. ;D
