  A lot of the grocery stores let you register on line with your club card, then you check off the coupons you are interested in and if your card (or phone number) is used at the store you will get those coupons cents off.     Also watch the ads, several of the stores in our area double the coupons, then once in a while they will triple for say Thursday afternoon 1-5.    Most of the time if a store issues its own coupon on something you can usually use a manufacturer coupon with it too.  Most items are on sale or special about every 2 months, so you don't have to stock up for a year, just how much you will use in 8 to 12 weeks.

couponing seems like so much work and organization...
i mean, i've tried, but it's proven to be more trouble
than it's worth... which is like, 50 cents, lol.

i rarely see coupons for stuff i actually buy, anyway.
i'm not going to buy $10 detergent to get $1 off, when
i would have bought the $5 one to begin with.

but what do i know? i'm probably doing it wrong, LOL.
did everyone feel like that when they were a newbie??

Just in case anyone doesn't know: I used to work at Kohl's and they honor ANY expired coupon, kohl's cash, etc. Save them if you shop there

Did everyone buy their NewsPapers today? Remember that the P&G only comes out once a month so today is your only chance to get it.

@Tea4me Here it is called La Prensa But I know it is regional so maybe you have a different one in your area. It's just free awesomeeee.

@g0ku4life
That is really good to know. Thanks!!

@cloudsoup
LOL I haven't payed $10 for laundry Detergent for over 2 years now  but I can see why it would seem that way. It really is just a combo of things that have to be done to get almost anything for free or even make money taking it home. The way i see it is if I can save on toiletries then that just leaves me extra cash to buy my family good healthy food. As I always say "NO ONE should have to pay for toothpaste" lol Just for example but I can get almost anything for free.

@plennis
Agreed thanks for the great info. Loyalty cards are a great asset. And it literally pays to be informed of your stores policy.

@AmberCampbell1987
I been an avid couponer for 2years+ and I still forget my coupons sometimes or let them expire.

Agree we have to take what were given and use it. After all companies want consumers to use their coupons. I have gotten to try items that a would have never considered because I had a coupon and it was a great deal with it. :)  :binkybaby:

Some good ideas, Thanks! I try to send an email once or twice a week to companies of products I like either praising them or giving suggestions.  Often they will send you coupons for that.

REMEMBER.....................coupons are not just for grocery stores.  Department stores, drug stores, restaurants.  They all have coupons sometimes. (Some have something going ALL of the time.)  I average 75-80% off of my groceries every time I shop.    I also am a secret shopper, so many of my shops are for grocery stores.  They pay me and then give me from $10 to $20 to spend at the store.  So If I use coupons and their money, most of my groceries are free.  (BUT YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHAT SHOPPING COMPANIES YOU SIGN UP FOR, THERE ARE A LOT OF SCAMS OUT THERE).  Several of the grocery stores in my area right now are hooked up with gas companies, you buy your groceries and can get a discount ($0.10 per gallon) on gas.   A lot of places, especially gas stations will offer you up to $0.10/per gallon off if you will pay cash.  I always run by an ATM before I get gas anymore.

cloudsoup..........the more you do couponing the easier it gets to get good savings.  If you use your store loyalty cards you can get coupons off for meat and fresh vegetables.    Things like laundry soap, cleaning supplies, save your coupons and only buy on sale, then you won't have to pay $10.00 for soap.  Most of the time I get mine for free or very close to it with coupons and sales.

Also, do the mail in (or you can usually do on the computer) rebates. I just got 8 reams of paper from Staples for $0.25 per ream after the rebate.  The check got back to me in about 4 weeks.

plennis, I signed up to be a mystery shopper - every single job was cell phone stores for months.  I can't stand shopping for a cell phone when I actually have to so there was no way I was going to do that.

Do you have any tips on best places to get newspapers for the coupons? Besides paying full price for them of course  ;D

Check Local Coffee shops talk to the owner you can offer to recycle their News papers for free and you get to keep the inserts :) Also some areas carry a Free "magazine" or  Local News Paper that will sometimes have the inserts in it.

Thanks for the info.  Extreme couponing does not work where I live because they stop doing the double the value years ago.  I save about $12-$15 a trip when I buy name brands.  But, thanks for the heads up on the other company meat and veggies is where I need the money off.

My Grocery stores do not double either But I still save a lot with my Toiletries. Which allows me to spend a little more on healthy foods :)

No doubling here, either.  Once in a great while, Albertson's will do a double-coupon week and of course, I forget all about it.   :BangHead:

Next time I see the coupon preview, I'll put it in a separate post so as not to detract from the conversation.

I try to pair my coupons with the sales.  I find this works better with toiletries and beauty products than at the grocery store.  You should also check out your local stores coupon policies and get copies of them.  Doing this I have found some stores here will accept their coupons that they issue in ads or in store plus a coupon you would clip from the newspaper. Mega savings.  I used to coupon a lot and saved us a lot of money but quit doing it.  Now that I'm out of work I am going to start up again because I'm doing nothing with my day anyway.  :)  Happy deal hunting!

I know the couponing in the States and here in Canada is a little different, but in the end hard work can save anyone a dollar and more. Writing to companies is a great way to get manufacturer coupons. Sometimes the company will even send coupons for a free item purchase. I trade a lot of coupons online and find that really helpful. That way I can give what I won't use and I get more of what I would need to stalk up on and save a larger amount. A big thing for me too is that I send coupons not only to my home but to my neighbours, brothers and a few friends houses. Every now and then I make them each a little basket full of products I know they use as a thank-you for letting me ship so much mail to their homes. I get so many more free products by doing that, it's unbelievable.

get the 'priceblink' extension on your browser......when you online shop, they'll tell you in any other retailer has the item for  a lower price, or if they're offering certain coupon codes

I very seldom use snail mail to send anything to  companies for coupons, etc. I use the internet.  Seems to make everything go much faster.  I have written companies (grocery stores, departments stores, drug stores and others) complimenting them on the way they do something or excellent customer service by employees and received coupons for their stores.    I wrote one chain warehouse grocery store to complain.  They would not take 2 $0.55 coupons that I had printed off of the computer, they made me feel like a crook for trying to use coupons.  I have used coupons at this store for years with no problem.  So I wrote the corporate offices and told them what the cashier and manager had said to me and that I had been a loyal customer for years and would no longer be going into any of their stores.  I received a letter apologizing to me plus $50.00 in $5.00 gift cards (good on anything, meat, vegetables!).  They also told me that they were sending out a new training review guide on coupons and that the trainer would be visiting that store in particular for a training review on coupons and CUSTOMER SERVICE.  They also thanked me for bringing this to their attention.  Sales had been down at the store I visited from the previous year.....I am sure it had to be the customer service even more than not accepting the coupons.      SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the point of my story is to tell corporate offices or store managers when you get very good or bad customer service.   Fill out the surveys on the backs and bottoms of your receipts, you often get free or coupons off of things for doing that, make sure you send in your rebates on anything you purchase.  It all adds up, I mean we click for pennies!   LOL

This is a good idea. I'm still a newbie at couponing I only clip for what I buy and I do load them ont my store loalty cards. But, if I see the same type of product for cheaper even with a coupon I'll buy that.

I love everything about their rewards program. They have a Beauty Club u register your loyalty card and every $50 in beauty products gives you a $5 ECB (extra care buck) on top of any rewards in the weekly sales

I love the TV program "Extreme Couponing."  None of our local grocery stores offer double coupon deals, so that is out except for the few times I am in a larger city and can shop at Dillon's.  They have a great program for shoppers who sign up for their (free) membership card.

In South Florida there are no stores that will double.  CVS is good when you buy a item on sale with a coupon and then get extra care bucks back.  If I am going to buy more items, I'll have the items with the extra care bonus rung up first, then you can use the bucks towards your other items.  You have to get CVS when they have a sale or a special promo on an item.  Their regular prices are higher than most places.  8)

Do you get the RedPlum insert in Tuesday's mail with the store ads? Be sure to look for those as they are about the same as the one that comes in the Sunday paper.

This is an awesome thread.  Bravo to the who thought of it.  A couple of things I would like to add.

1. I visit our local library every saturday afternoon.  They let me take the newspaper coupons.  So I'm saving on printer ink and or the cost of a newspaper subscription.  My old local laundromat used to do the same thing for me.

2. I use the library for movie rentals.  We hardly ever do redbox or blockbuster any more.

3. Link Saving Star to your Jewel, Kroger etc... store savings cards

4.  Double up on coupon and store sales flyer deals

5.  Target offers gift cards when you purchase some items (Different each week)

6.  Jewel, Kroger and Walgreens all offer coupons (sometimes for $2-$5 to spend in there store at your next shopping trip)

7.  Spices are expensive..so start up a neighborhood spice exchange.  Or clean out the cupboard exchanges.

I like to use coupons when I can but sometimes it does not work out for what I want.  I use them to save so when I purchase my veggie and fruit it helps with the prices of those.  I find that I need to save on the other things so that I can purchase what I want.

Some sites give you credit back for each coupon you use.  Sometimes when I don't need the coupon, I leave it on the grocery shelf in case anyone else wants it.  Also, if they use it - I get the credit. ;D

Our local newspaper seldom includes coupon flyers.  Is it possible to order coupon flyers or brochures online like you can for travel discounts?  I do some of the coupon offers through FC and similar sites, but those always have a short expiration date.

I love coupons but I sometimes find even with the coupon the store brand is cheaper. You have to be careful because if you are buying things just because you have a coupon it's not really a savings. Also, a lot of places aren't doubling coupons any more and that is where I used to save a lot.

It really depends on the store manager some say yes some say no. Technically they can't take coupons with another stores logo on it but it does have a redemption address so It just depends where you go I guess.

My mom always used coupons as I was growing up, she had a huge bag full all the time.  I was watching the show extreme couponing the other day, and some of them were being done at Schnucks which we do have locally.  I figured I would really focus on this the next couple months and see if I could get some great or even free bargains.  However, when I called schnucks on their coupons requirements, they said they had changed everything now they will double only 15 coupons, maximum of .55 cent ones, and a limit of only 3 of the same.  Not sure if it would pay to do it or not, we dont' get coupons in our local paper much, so would have to use my printer to print coupons which the ink is not cheap!!  Also, gas would cost me  a bit to because the closets schnucks is about 1 hour away.  So...thinking probably wont do it much.  I never really cared for CVS but after reading so many post I will look into it more, I always thought they were so high!!

To use Saving Star, you need to register on their site. Then you pick the coupons (from their site) that you want to use. When you go to the store use your store loyalty card and make your purchases. The amount of the coupon doesn't come off your bill, but gets put into an account at Saving Star. When you get 5.00 in your account, you can cash out. They use paypal, so it's easy.

I have seen many episodes.  Some of them can teach you several things about couponing, and there are some that are really far out and not really practical.  It helps a lot if your area will double coupons, South Florida doesn't have any stores that do.  One of there best people they have freatured on Extreme Couponing is Nathan Engel has a very good couponing website. :bunny:

I just recently started using coupons!  ;) What I do is make a grocery list of what I need and search the web for the things on my list! That way I don't waste ink and over spend!

Love this club! I'm sure there will be tons of helpful tips and strategies! I'll be checking back often!    :notworthy:

this is semi-related to saving money.... so, when i know i'm going to make a larger purchase at a particular store (or i frequent a particular store often and know i'll spend money there), i try to check out those sites that sell gift cards to various retailers for a discount.  it's a great way to shave something like 10% off the actual value of the gift cards. and because it's not a coupon code, you can just use those cards as payment, in addition to whatever coupons you have

i would love to be able to learn to save so much.  we were behind a lady at bi-lo the other day who's bill was 146 dollars, by the time they finished with her coupons she left paying only 17.  i was amazed.  just not sure i have the extra time to actually do all the work involved!

Once you get set up it isn't really that much work. I actually find it therapeutic. I will have some time this week to set up a step by step guide for beginners :)

I have a Smart Source app on my phone. It lets you clip coupons directly to your store card. I also use Upromise to save for my kid's college fund and they have coupons you load to your card or printable coupons. Couponmom.com seems to be a pretty good printable site. I also have the ibotta app on my phone. They aren't coupons exactly. You buy the product, scan the barcode with your phone, take a picture of your receipt and they credit you cash back. When you have at least $5 in your account you get it sent to your Paypal. I have done this, it isn't very time consuming and they almost instantly credit you. I also shop at Giant Eagle a lot when an item is on sale and I have a $.99 or less coupon. They will double them. Happy couponing everyone!

black1304.... as far as upromise goes.  Which card are coupons loaded onto?  Store loyalty card or what?  I'm already registered with upromise but I haven't spent much time on there figuring out how to utilize the site.  I should probably make that a priority huh?

Went to Publix today (in south Broward), to get the early paper for tomorrow.  A lady was there before me going through the papers.  She told me she at been to three stores, and all the coupon inserts from the Miami Herald and the Sun Sentinel had been taken. In the case of the Sun Sentinel, people actually ripped open the plastic insert to remove the coupon inserts.  After that I tried a nearby 7 Eleven, and it was the same situation. Did this happen anywhere else? :crybaby2:

I love coupons but unforunatly none of the stores in my area ever do the double or triple coupons because I live in a really small town I quess. It just wouldn't be worth the effort to drive 75 miles to one of the stores that do this. But I still use my coupons at my local stores everytime I shop. I also have rewards cards at all my stores.

I guess it depends on the rural area.  I live in a rural area and our stores do not ever have double coupons or many coupon flyers for groceries.

Our local newspaper seldom includes coupon flyers.  Is it possible to order coupon flyers or brochures online like you can for travel discounts?  I do some of the coupon offers through FC and similar sites, but those always have a short expiration date.

SmartSource and Redplum have websites from which  can print qpons. You wont find all the qpons that came in the sunday paper but there are a few. There is also coupons.com

Thank You!

Combining a store coupon with a manufacturers coupon helps when your area doesn't double.  Really good when it is also on sale and in the case of CVS if you get Extra Care bucks back.

MM= Money Makers (Usually Register reward items that are free and we use a coupon to make them MM)

Do most stores allow you to make money on items, if you apply it to rest of bill?

I just discovered that Winn Dixie has coupons from their website that load directly to your reward card--- no paper coupons!  And you can create your shopping list and print it or pull it up on your smartphone from the sale ads.  I like to get my paper coupons from swagbucks because you get 10 points for every one redeemed.  It's like an extra 10 cents off!  I love that!

Overage is only allowed at Walmart and some grocery stores mostly in the south to my knowledge. Money makers are slightly different example. Colgate tooth paste is on sale for $3.00 and you get back $3.00 register reward(walgreens) making it free but I have a $1 off 1 colgate tp so I pay $2 at the register and get back $3 in the form of a register reward. Which makes this a $1 Money maker.

It is hard to find coupons for the stuff you normally buy. Sometimes you can get a item cheaper in another brand with no coupon. I use coupons but I don't buy something just because I have a coupon.

I guess I do stock pile.  But not to the extreme that they do on those shows.  I shop year round for gifts for birthdays and Christmas.   Then if I happen to be broke at the time, I still have a little something to give.  It is not so hard on your wallet when you don't have to get everything in just a couple of weeks.  Also, if you have kids you know the I'm going to a birthday (They said it was just a sleepover until now!) party now or right after school so I need to take a gift.  I also have lots of cards, and the makings for cards for the last minute too!    We even wrap the gifts when we bring them home and put a tag on it saying what it is.  I use red paper with white polka dots on it, or brown paper, the ribbons we put on at the last, because you make them for holidays or birthdays just by the type of ribbons you put on them.

I am forever forgetting the coupons that I have in my purse.  I have good intentions but fail to remember them.  Just a couple of days ago I purchased some Aleve, I put the coupon in my pocket.  When I got home the coupon for $2 was still in my pocket.  I am always looking for ways to save.

I find myself forgetting my purse instead of my coupons.  I don't know how many times I have had to come all the way home to get it.  Something must be wrong here  :angry7:

It sounds like Target is going to have some good deals.  I will have to check the CVS preview also.  This week a Redplum and a Smart Source insert will be in Sunday paper.

Some stores have their own coupons offers. Walmart, Target and many other stores. Also, buy the local Sunday newspaper which usually contains many coupons booklets.

I organize my coupons by expiration date so I can easily toss the expired ones that I haven't used.  I also found that it was silly for me to save coupons for things I would never buy.  For me, it's about keeping things simple and manageable.

I also check my weekly store sales before I go shopping so maybe I can use a store sale with a manufacture coupon.  I also make sure I always, always, always use my Rewards card whenever I buy.

I only have a rewards card for CVS.  Publix is my main grocery store, and they do not have one, Target and Walmart also don't have them here.  Which other stores offer them?  Thanks for the info!

sherryinutah: I tried organizing mine in an old 3-ring binder.  Actually my oldest daughter did the organizing for me.  It was so handy.  It was a good "chore" for her to keep up with since weekly coupons change so much.  She began cooking and I told her to put her recipe's in that binder so now I"m back to carrying my coupons in a ziplock baggie.  I'm so impressed with the lady that walks by me at the store with her coupon album all organized.  One time while in Target I was buying a slew of cereal...they had a deal that wee buy so many get a $5 gift card....some gal noticed what I was buying and said here ya go...it was a $1 off if ya bought all those cereals.  BARGAIN for me that day.  Do you know how good it felt to know there are people out there like me on the coupon saving level...sometimes I think my husband believes I'm nuts with the adrenalin rush I get from saving $$$

If you tend to forget your coupons or binders, buy a small coupon saver that you can keep in your purse or car, I found that helped a lot.  I just have to make sure to keep updating it and getting rid of expired coupons.

couponing seems like so much work and organization...
i mean, i've tried, but it's proven to be more trouble
than it's worth... which is like, 50 cents, lol.

i rarely see coupons for stuff i actually buy, anyway.
i'm not going to buy $10 detergent to get $1 off, when
i would have bought the $5 one to begin with.

but what do i know? i'm probably doing it wrong, LOL.
did everyone feel like that when they were a newbie??
I agree that I only us coupons on stuff I usually buy, the only way I would use a coupon on something I would buy is if the coupon makes it free, actually get money back, or if its something I want to try and with the coupon it makes it really cheep.

There are many sites that you can get printable coupons without going through facebook.  Sign up at the websites for Smartsource and Red Plum and you will get an email each week with the coupons that will be offered, many printable.  Also there are some great coupon sites that do not require facebook.  Some of the good ones are: Shop at Home, Coupon Suzy, We Use Coupons, Crazy Coupon Lady, Coupon.com etc.  I could go on and on, you can google coupon sites and you will see many.  They will send you emails each week.  If there are some really good coupons that you want, you can always go to Coupon Clippers and buy them.  You might have to spend a minimum of $4 or $5 but, you can get a lot of coupons for that.  One last thing, if you live near a CVS, make sure you have their card, most of the deals are only with the card, also they sent me $3 in extra care money for my birthday!  Good Luck!

Do you ever have trouble getting internet coupons to scan at the store?  I find about half the time they don't seem to work. I think my main store's policy is if they don't scan they don't work but some of the nicer cashiers will type them in.
Title: Re: Couponing Club: Share your deals and strategies :)
Post by: Skandon on June 07, 2013, 05:53:18 am
If they don't scan the cashier is suppose to type them in.  A lot of coupons won't scan and are fine typed in.  Do not let them just give it back without trying to type it in.

Good advice Skandon.  One of my transitional teen to adult jobs was working in a grocery store...and we were trained to type in discounts but had to be sure the product was exactly what the coupon was for.  Just the other day at Jewel I had a coupon from there register for some pure leaf tea.  It was a $1 off a carafe and the register wouldn't take it.  The customer service associate double checked my bags to be sure indeed it matched and he manually entered it.  I've never had a cashier hand me a coupon back before unless it's expired.

It was at Safeway where the internet coupon didn't work a few times. Some months ago when it happened, the cashier told me that had just recently told them that the coupon policy had changed and if it didn't scan they shouldn't take it. She was very apologetic (and is one of my favorite cashiers) so I don't think she was shining me on.  Since then I have had some type them in (and she is one that does it) and others hand them back saying that can't get them to work.

I like the way Safeway now lets you load their coupons on to your club card.

I've heard of coupon trains.  Where you can sign up and share coupons through the mail.  I don't think it would be worth the hassle.  Maybe if you had a teen and made it there chore...even than though I think it would be more aggravating than anything. At least not for me.  Shoot if postage was cheaper than maybe I'd consider that but it seems the mail isn't even reliable anymore.

Just in case anyone doesn't know: I used to work at Kohl's and they honor ANY expired coupon, kohl's cash, etc. Save them if you shop there

If you have these stores near you:  Bed Bath & Beyond or Buy Buy Baby, they are owned by the same company so you can use either coupon at either store.  Also, they both take more than one coupon, you can use as many as you have.  BBB won't take any expired coupons, but BB&B will.  Also, BBB will take BabysRUs coupons. :female:

If I take a coupon to the store and decide not to use it - I leave it on the shelf near the product for someone else to use.  I always wonder if the store personnel remove them - but I leaved them anyway.  Someone may be happy to use it.

So you are a coupon fairy  :) I do that sometimes too... But I LOVE it when I find them so I dont think the personnel remove them. One of my cvs started taping sunday paper coupons to products it was awesome lol

Just in case anyone doesn't know: I used to work at Kohl's and they honor ANY expired coupon, kohl's cash, etc. Save them if you shop there

I used to shop there all the time. Then, they didn't let people in CO make the $50 payments to avoid interest. I still have my card. Perhaps, I'll go back when I have some cash and use the card again.

If you use your card combined with coupons and a sale, you can get some good deals.  Today I bought my favorite shampoo on sale for $3.99, I used a $2.00 extra care bucks and a $2.00 coupon from the paper, making me get a .01 credit towards the candy I bought with it.

I started doing this as well.  There are a lot of people who rely on coupons to make ends meet and why not help them out?  It makes a lot more sense than just throwing away the coupons.

I used to love couponing. That was back in the day when it was store wars and coupons were worth quite a bit more than they are today.  Also back then, there were coupon newsletters that you got in the mail and you could get coupon pals to share coupons. I had 50 pals and did very well. I had a shoe box with dividers and it was rare when there was any room in it.

My biggest deal was the day I went to the store that offered triple coupons and bought $150 in groceries for $.25. Loved it...but then I got a full time job and could no longer keep up with it. Also, the stores got tired of losing money so little by little, they stopped offering double and triple coupons.

Today, only one store in my area offers double coupons. Another store refuses to honor the online coupons, calling them counterfeit (too bad they aren't well informed). In fact, they had the police come for a couple people for "counterfeit coupons" which turned out to be good ones in the long run but that store still refuses to honor them.

Since I am disabled and unable to work with limited income, I can't take full advantage of a lot of coupons today. I have to rely on hubby to take me to the store(s) and he hates it (especially the store with the double coupons), so I go with a list, coupons that match, and a map of the store so I can get in and out quickly. Sometimes I think I should get in one of those motorized carts instead of hobbling around the store but the baskets aren't big enough.   ;D

I still save around $10 but that's quite a difference compared to the years before.  :'(

I agree that the best way to maximize your savings is to combine your offers.  If the store has a store coupon out and you have a manufacturers coupon that can be combined thats great.  If you take that and combine it with a sale, and then store money back with purchase (like CVS extra care dollars) then you are really getting it cheap.

It's back to school time and I have a suggestion for those of you trying to save with supplies.  Similar to the spice exchange concept gather a bunch of people.  A whole community preferably.  Everyone brings there gently used school supplies in a box with there families name on it.  Parents and there kids pick out what they need with there back to school supply list in toe.  It helps those that don't need the unnecessary clutter from there kids having outgrown stuff and it saves some of us some $$$.  In doing this I've received a few great things for FREE.  ie: calculator (you know those complicated math ones) flash cards, even gym shoes that were name brand and looked brand new.  Apparently the kid grew out of them and only work them for the first month of school.  Worked for me my son needed new shoes at the time anyway.

If anyone shops at CVS/Longs, their coupons do NOT expire. You know that huge string of a receipt that prints out, all of those coupons never expire. At least hang on to the ExtraBuck rewards and use them later.

This is a case of YMMV( your manager may vary) Some stores will accept your expired ecbs talk to the manager and ask I have several CVS's in my area and they are all different some dont take expired at all. Some take them for 7 days others for up to 30 days.

Coupon story from Wal-mart.  I had a $0.75 coupon.  I had it sitting on the little ledge while I was putting groceries in my cart at the register.  Between the clerk and I talking I forgot to hand it over before I slid my card for payment.  I went up to customer service and the gal handed me the change.  She went onto tell me it was no big deal since it just happened and it was only one.  But there are days where they have people come in the day after they make there purchases and try and use coupons.  The bigger $5.00 off ones for razors and that.  The don't bring the package or receipt in so it makes it impossible to comfirm yet people still expect to get the cash back.  I never realized how couponing could become taken for granted before.  The lady said, "our store just won't accept coupons the next day.  They can return there items and go shop again to use them if they want."

Coupons are great, but what ruins it for people are people like that who are trying to take advantage of the system.  You hear stories all the time where people try to use expired coupons or buy different items than what the coupoon is for, and then demand to use the coupons.   ::)

Are we allowed to put links into savings spots?  I'm a member of a radio shopping show in Illinois.  Just in case we can't put a direct link in I'll describe it so if any of you are interested in utilizing it it should be easy to Google.  The station I use is in the Aurora or Naperville area of Illinois.  It's on the a.m. station.  They have sister stations across the US.  The shopping show airs at certain times of the day..2 hour time slots.  I've gotten certificates for restaurants, services on my vehicles, hotel/theme park stays.  One time in a single phone call I spent more than $50 and received a free pair of tickets to see blue man group.  Other times I received free water park passes.  The certificates are only good for 90 days and they do not ... absolutely do not refund the value of the certificate...I take that back they did once when a smoothie company went out of business.  For those in Chicagolandor visiting the area this can be a great way to save some $$$

I use to be into couponing very heavily. We lived in a small town so we had access to lots of inserts. We'd collect the coupons, then match the coupons to that weeks sales flyers. Coupons and sales work well together. ;D

Another thing if you are planning to use a lot of coupons you may want to verify the store's coupon policy.

I have a savings tip.  For those of you that have kiddie's and carve pumpkins.  Rather going to a pumpkin farm and pay by the pound...pick your pumpkins up from aldi.  Also the pumpkin carving pattern books are nothing but a novelty.  You can get themed pictures for FREE at your local library.  Ours has a variety printed up for little ones to color.  One of the things I think is so cute and classy - not trashy is when homes have corn stalks and hay bale's as out door decorations.  You can find these for free from local farmers just by looking on Craigslist.  Also shopping at Goodwill for costumes is a HUGE Savings.  My son spent $20 (which to me is a lot) on army camo pants and a sergeants jacket.  We have a canteen from my brother's army days and he has a hard shelled war hat from a play set when he was just a little guy.  Best  thing is he likes the pants so much I think he'll be wearing them throughout the year and my daughter thought the jacket was so cool she wants to wear it as an accessory item.  Ahhhhhhhhh kid's these days.

for those of you in the midwest.  i tend to buy all of my groceries from hy-vee.  they have this great gas card program where you can put digital coupons on the card and it will instantly come off of your purchase instead of wasting the ink to print out the coupons.  also for certain products you get money placed on your card that is later taken off of the price at the gas pump for the 1st 20 gallons.  our family hasent paid over 2.70 for gas for over 8 months.  alot of my friend only pay around 1 or 2 bucks for their entire tank.

I love couponing! Unfortunately I do not get the paper any more but I am still able to get great coupons online. I love the Kroger online coupon site. If you register online with the Kroger site you can link your plus card and upload coupons to your plus card. I found it to be a lot more helpful than remembering to print/clip coupons. Plus every Friday Kroger sends you an email for a free item. All you have to do is load the free item to your Kroger Plus Card.
