"God is my refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble." Psalm 46:1. This verse is my favorite.
-
"No man whose testicles have been crushed or whose organ has been cut off may become a member of the Assembly of God." 4. Deut. 23:1

"In the house of the righteous is much treasure:but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble."
Proverbs 15:6
-
“Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel.” (1 Peter 2:18)
God doesn't want you to fight back unjust actions, because to do otherwise is commendable. This defiantly works in favor of catholic priest.

No need to be rude and obnoxious, seriously.

Rude and obnoxious? That's pretty much what the entire verse says. Peter 2:19 Literally states that its admirable to accept unjust punishment (and remember, this is suppose to be the new testament.) If you consider my post to be rude, look no further than the source I quoted it from.

I'm talking about your comment afterwards. I laughed, but it's unnecessary and obnoxious tbh.

You're right. It is unnecessary. Catholic priest should be allowed to molest children, and the leaders of the catholic church allowed to protect those priest, without an exhortation amount of criticism. I apologize if my post was offensive, and from now on I will be sure to keep the truth in my post in check.

"You either have a god who sends child rapists down to rape children or you have a god who watches it and says 'When you're done, I'm going to punish you.' If I can stop a person from raping a child, I would. That's the difference between me and your god."

Wow. I didn't say anything like that. In no way did I say it was okay. Calm down.

You stated the comment of unnecessary and obnoxious, what did you expect? For me to roll over and censor myself because I might offend you? Sorry if it seems my post make me seem angry, when someone disagrees with you it may seem like the other person is yelling at you when they are simply trying to expose the ignorance that is religion.

I didn't say you had to censor yourself or sound "nicer". There is a way to make a point without mocking, sneering, and poking fun at someone that doesn't share your views. I was originally offended because I know the OP personally, but what some of you posted here is quite immature. I wasn't only referring to you in my previous post.

Your first two sentences contradict one another. First you tell me I don't have to censor myself, but then tell me I should use a different manner to express my viewpoint because otherwise I'm offending others. It's ok, though, because those who attempt to censor others usually don't realize that's what their doing. I wasn't mocking anyone specific in this thread. I was mocking religion, those who support it in general, and especially certain catholic priest. I'll mock pedophiles all I want too, and I see nothing wrong with doing so.

I'm not telling you to do anything. I said there is a way to make a point without being offensive, I didn't tell you that you had to do anything. I'm also expressing my opinion. Don't twist my words and run with it. I was referring to the other user I also quoted when I said mocking.

It also indicates that the deplorable institution of slavery is okay. Wrong! Yes, definitely a passage that the "Bible is the literal word of God" crowd hates to have to explain away.

I recall quoting this verse a few months ago and having the fundamental christians try to soften what it meant. "Slavery wasn't what it was as viewed today" and "You just don't understand the bible and how it should be read" were the main counter-arguments I got. Thing is, owning another human being is wrong. There's no way of getting around the immorality of it. When a book tells you how to own slaves and that it's okay to beat them, it loses all credibility on being a reliable source for morality. The religious cannot fathom this and this proves they are truly delusional for doing so. Such attitudes are deplorable.

Thank you for sharing this verse. I have been blessed over and over again from the comforting words written by Isaiah the prophet. "Wait on the Lord!"
