Title: Peter and Judas
Post by: march1971 on March 21, 2013, 05:30:11 am
2 of Jesus' disciples went through changes. Peter was told by Jesus that he would deny Him 3 times before the rooster crowed, and Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. Judas realized that He had betrayed innocent blood, threw the money at the feet of the Sanhedrin and then went and hung himself. when Jesus and His disciples were eating later after His resurrection, He knew what Peter was going through. He then asked Peter three times "do you love me?" and when Peter said "yes" Jesus told him to take care of His sheep.

Yes, Peter did as Jesus said and denied him three times.  He realized that when the rooster crowed.  It is my personal assertion that Peter was scared he would have befallen the same fate as Jesus did.  Judas betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver, but it is debatable what happened to him as a result.  The Mormons believed that Judas hit his stomach on a rock and his guts spilled out of him.  If he did hang himself, as you are asserting, he should have been hung knowing he was wronging someone who had more honesty in Him than some people have in their middle finger.  Yet I would love to know what happened to the other people who kept on wanting Jesus crucified. :angel11: :angel12: :angel11:

Says that satan entered Judas's body... so that makes it easier to understand why he would do such a thing.
As for Peter, yea, he was scared... easily understood cause he's only human.  I feel awful for him when I read that part.
Just the thought of Jesus turning to look at him at the third crow gives me chill bumps!

in Acts, it does say that Judas split open when he hanged himself in the field that he bought with his iniquity, and thenceforth it was called Akeldama, or "field of blood"

That's what the bible has to say something confusing.

There's no discrepancy between Matthew and Luke's accounts.Obviously,Judas hung himself. After a time, his dead body fell from the tree and splattered on the rocks below.
