We have so many squirrels, rabbits, moles...it is difficult to keep things out of the garden.  Thinking about doing raised beds - seems more productive, higher yield, and could lettuce beds etc with wire.  Also container gardening seems to be more common; particularly for those with small spaces.  Read an article last week about utilizing vertical space, particularly vines or things that climb anyway.  Even saw strawberries planted in gutters (not attached to roof, just suspended by chains) which I thought was interesting.  Containers and raised beds would eliminate the need for a tiller or tractor and be much easier to maintain than rows.  Just need the right soil mix....

I love to plant flowers and watch them grow, but I'm getting so disgusted with this cold weather.  It seems like spring will never get here. :'(

I'll be starting a garden for the first time this year.  Have to determine what fencing to install to try to keep the local critters out.  Looking forward to working with my brother and his wife on getting me going.  They just moved into a new house last month so I'm guessing they'll be living vicariously through me on their gardening plans until they have the chance to get a new one started at their new house.  LOL.

I absolutely love to garden!! Mostly flowers and plants, although I do like having a vegetable garden, but haven't been able to do one in several years. I just moved, so I don't see it happening this year either.

I just came in from outside after putting in two 4'x4' raised beds.  I found a great deal on some snap together kits that have very durable material that resembles wood.  I filled them with soil, but I am afraid to put my veggies in today because we might have another frosty night tonight.  Yes, it is rare for Georgia, but of course it happens when I want to plant something.

I was confused what are the difference between a Indeterminate Tomato and Determinate tomatoes, thanks to the you tube somebody put a really informative video about it.I have no Idea about tomatoes. All I wanna do is plant and harvest some fruits because it is really expensive to buy it in the store now and most of the time you don't get the good one.

I don't do it, mainly because we have alot of dogs, but I always thought it would be fun to grow your own food. Kind of brings us back to the old days, where most of us were eating produce from our yards.

We have garlic that my boyfriend planted out in our garden back in November and it has sprouted and the plants are about two inches tall now.  It will be time to plant peas soon as they are ones that you plant early.  I also have an indoor herb garden going in my kitchen.  I love cooking with fresh herbs and grew a lot of basil outside.  I hope it is not as hot this summer, as I think it really hurt most of our crops.

I always do vegetable planting and move some of my perennials in the garden each year.  Love to garden with flowers and grow vegetables.  I am moving my vegetable garden this year because the spot I had it in is becoming unproductive.  I get a great vegetable crop if I move the spot every few years.

I love to garden, but plants in general don't like me.  I have a bad tendency to kill them.  My plant at work is the only one that's managed to survive.  I even killed a cactus at home, of all things!

I'm not certain, but I think most varieties of tomatoes will do well in pots as long as they are big enough and have the right soil conditions. I've seen them grown in pots. You might do a Google search to see what you can find about the subject.

Am so ready to start planting a small garden.
Fresh veggies are so good. Need to put the frame up for my shade cloth. Here it gets so hot need one. My brother and sister-in-lawhave already started there tomatoe plants and peppers  about 900 or so , but they put them in 30'x50'  green houses. Will start their cucumbers a bout the mid of  month.  I don't really have to grow a garden just like to have some rightby the back door.

I grabbed a few seed packets, but I've been lazy. The weather has been back and forth, but it would have been good to put them out already! Maybe tomorrow.

I am hoping to be able to find some okra and brussel sprout plants to pick up. They do surprisingly great, are low maintenance, and delicious.
Also the trusty yellow squash and zucchini. Maybe this year the cucumbers will pick up too.

I grabbed some eggplant seeds as well, but after last year's crazy bad performance (purchased started plants), I'm not optimistic about them. Anyone have any tips for this plant? I love the fruit, but last year it hardly grew at all. :-
