Title: irritated
Post by: chknf33t on May 19, 2009, 01:01:45 pm
a couple of days ago, someone posted a link that turned out to be an attempt at getting my information. i was stupid enough to click on the link, and, once i realized what it was, began to panic. i wrote in the thread TWICE about my concerns, but received no advice or help. i then tried the support chatroom where i quickly realized i wouldn't be getting any help there as it is an automated system. how do i know this? one hint would be that the "staff member" i was speaking to kept asking the same question over and over again and never acknowledged anything i was saying. i then reported the person who posted the link to administrators and wrote my concerns in the report. never received anything back. the last thing i could think to do without making this issue too public was to open up a "ticket" in the support system and inform administrators of my concerns there. this issue is a big deal to me as it concerns my identity and bank information. even though nothing seems to have happened yet, and maybe nothing will ever come of it, but i was legitimately worried about the sake of my personal information, and feel that, as a professional website, the staff members here should have been sensitive to that and should have AT LEAST acknowledged my concerns. i feel ignored, and it makes me frustrated and just mad that, even though the person who posted the link was tended to and banned, someone could have contacted me in response to my worries. it's become a matter of principal at this point.

i enjoy coming here and appreciate a chance to make a little extra cash, but if i'm going to trust this website with very personal information, i'd like some sort of sense of security. i realize what happened probably couldn't have been prevented, but, like i said, this has become a matter of principal: just respond to people if they have concerns or worries.

also, i don't really understand why we can't send private messages, but it'd be nice if we could at least send them to administrators.

the only things i could think to do in order to protect myself was change my password and delete my bank info. i do take some comfort in knowing i'm a member of LifeLock. would anyone else have done anything else or in addition to what i did? any advice and help would be greatly appreciated!

If you've got life lock, then you shouldn't have to worry too much, just keep track of everyting and try not to stress too much.

Keep an eye on your account with LifeLock and you'll be fine!  Sorry to hear no one acknowledged your issue, but at least *YOU* know you're covered!  Don't *EVER* give out information such as account numbers, PIN codes, etc especially from a link you're unfamiliar with!!

There is always someone unscrupulous out there sending out emails attempting to get your personal and confidential info.  It is a good thing you have lifelock.

What assistance were you looking for from Admin?  I don't think this fall under their perview as to someone trying to scam you for your info.  I think they care and acknowledge your concerns but are limited as to helping you with this problem.

As always with everyone you have to be very careful as to who you give your info to.  I think we've all been scammed in one way or other if you use the internet.

If I don't know the site I do not click on it because it can bring with it so much malware and viruses etc with it.  Good luck.

I do apologize but I don't see any support tickets at all on your account.  Perhaps you used a different username?  We weren't ignoring you.  We don't do that!
