Curious what everyone thinks on Obama care being mandated next year, what are your feelings on it?
-
I am for Obamacare. I need health insurance badly.
-
It's going to bankrupt the country so I'm against it.
-
All I can say is that Obama Care has not done anything good for me.
My personal health insurance that I pay for on my own had a premium
increase of over $80 instead of the normal $20 to $30 that it used to increase.
I don't see where it's going to help us little people that pay
for our own insurance.
-
I like the idea that everyone has medical assistance but isn't that what medicare and medicade are for? everyone else should get a job
-
It is going to cause lots of problems (it already is showing its effects) without addressing any of the issues. As dwggs mentioned, most people will see their premiums increase (how's that for not taxing the middle class), some small businesses will not hire people (businesses with 50 or more employees have to pay 100% of their employees insurance or pay $750 in
fines taxes), people will have less choice in their plans, services will need to be rationed (esp. if lower government payments to doctors results in less going into that occupation), and there may actually be more of a black market or "destination" clinics outside the country. You are already seeing people decide to get out of the insurance game altogether, paying for their medical costs out-of-pocket since the fines taxes they'll have to pay for being uninsured is less than their medical costs + premiums they'll have to pay if insured. Not to mention how it takes away our freedoms to decide what products we want to purchase by imposing a tax on people if they do not purchase what the government wants you to purchase.
-
to soon to tell.we are paying 415.00 a month for 3 people .if we have to go to the hospital for any reason for a stay i'm wondering how much out of pocket we would have to pay.
-
I really don't understand it, I have health insurance through my job so I am not sure what it will mean to me. I will read about it and let you all know
-
I have no health insurance and I'm still against it. I do believe that it's a basic human right for people to have health care but, obamacare will make it completely unaffordable for those who can't afford it now. Just look around you and see what's happening. Physicians who want to stay in business are telling their patients they no longer accept ANY KIND OF INSURANCE (CASH only), and those who think it won't be worth it will find new careers. The doctor shortage will be crazy. The WAIT period to see your physician (IF you're lucky enough to KEEP your own physician) will be phenomenal. What if you need a Specialist? Lots of luck. You may wait MONTHS and TRAVEL FAR for the particular "Specialty" you need to see. Even the idiots who WROTE it are now coming out and saying, "it's a TRAINWRECK." Yes, indeed, it is!
-
All I can say is: If you think Insurance is expensive NOW! Wait til it is FREE. So I guess my answer to Obama Care is NO, NO, Heck NO! ::) The Government has NO Right to Force their will on to the People, and many People will get hurt by Obama Care. If I am not mistaken it states in our Constitution that the Government can NOT exempt themselves from any Laws and/or Programs that they impose on to the People! Hello Nancy did you NOT read this, before you said on the House Floor "We have to pass this (meaning Obama Care) before we can read what is in IT! ::) :'(
-
I oppose the giant bill they did. I would have done things in smaller steps to target those who needed insurance rather then this blanket approach. I think a lot of the insurance currently offered by employers will dry up. Unless they are fined heavily it will probably be cheaper for them to pay the fine then continue to insure their employees.
I would also have distributed money to the states to insure people rather then create another giant bureaucracy. It took me 4 phone calls and a visit to an IRS office to fix the problem caused by our tax guy transposing two digits on my daughter's SS# on our tax return. I shudder to think what if would be like to try to fix an insurance claim issue.
-
there are not too much information about Obama Care, I heard there is a form need to be fill out around Oct. of this year but where??? how much to pay out of pocket each month for the insurance, if not buying insurance, how much penalize it will cost? I thought government would increase tax(it needs whole lots money) and have all U.S. citizens to cover under the insurance without our own pocket....but I guess it is a dream
-
against...it's hurting so many, including the elderly!
-
The idiots in washington don't want to be on obamacare. The first ones on it should be them, what is the saying oh yeah what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Why is it suppose to be good for us and not them. I am not for this . The taxpayers and the business are going to be hit very hard.
-
no we need more medicaid here in utah
-
It's going to bankrupt the country so I'm against it.
No, it isn't. If you actually think a country can go "bankrupt" you don't understand economics.
-
I fear that the Affordable care act. (Did any of you know that is what it's actually called?) does not address the real reasons it costs so much to go to the doctor.
Car insurance doesn't pay for gas in your car, oil changes, basic maintenance, things like that. If it did, car insurance would cost 20x more than it does now. Car insurance pays for things out of the ordinary. That is how medical insurance used to work and still should work. However, medical insurance has become a form of currency and is no longer simply protection against the catastrophic.
There are advertisements for medicine on tv now. That's a problem. The medical industry is now big business, not wellness. There is no going back, there is no fixing this.

To the person telling everyone else that doesn't qualify to go get a job, there are NO jobs!!!!
-
Obamacare has nothing to do with health care improvements, it is designed to control people and give the idiots in DC control of 15 to 20% of the nations economy. Everytime the government has become involved in healthcare it has been a total screw up!! You may or may not know the history of this, HMOs were the brain child of Ted Kennedy and it dang near ruined many physicians practices. There were a lot of small communities that lost their ONLY doctor as this abortion virtually forced Drs. out of private (single Dr. practices) operations. Ever wonder just why you only find Drs. in groups called PAs? You got it, government messing with 'health care'. The country has managed to handle that debacle somewhat, but this Obamacare is going to be horrendous, provided it gets fully implemented. It is still possible that this thing will get killed off, a LOT of those that voted for it are jumping ship now as the horrors that were predicted by those in the know are coming to fruition. They laughed at those claims, but now that they are coming true they are scared it what else is going to go bonkers with it.
-
Unfortunately my insurance premiums have gone up since Obamacare so I would say I am against it but the truth is, I don't know exactly what it is just that it costs more.

Hello  I don't think Obama Care is a good idea. We shouldn’t be force to get health :bs: insurance it should be our choice. If they really wanted everyone to have health insurance why don't they make it free? ??? I already have enough bills I don't need another one. We shall see the effects of Obama Care very soon. :sad1:
-
i think obama care is fine, if it is helping anyone and saving lives then am all for it.
-
There isn't anything 'good' coming out of the Obama administration. Obama is destroying the Constitution and killing our liberties. He is a puppet of the Zionist regime and steering us all steadfast into the New World Order. Life as you know it will soon cease to excist in this country. You had best wake the *bleep* up and prepare yourself for it.
-
Against!!! The individual mandate sticks in my craw really hard. I got a news letter from H&R Block advising me that all tax returns will undergo scrutiny by the government from here on out. Purpose? To determine who will be forced to buy Obamacare, and to keep up with who will suffer a tax penalty when they don't comply. And as soon as Obamacare was drawn up the House and the Senate threw a ruling in there that exempted themselves from all of it. There little things all through it that have yet to be revealed. The latest is that Muslims, for religious reasons, cannot be bound to Obamacare, because their religion tells them that insurance is the same as gambling. Gambling is forbidden in that religion. Should we all become Muslim, then? :BangHead:
-
Against it, It's just plain awful does not help at all.

Unfortunately my insurance premiums have gone up since Obamacare so I would say I am against it but the truth is, I don't know exactly what it is just that it costs more.
One of the main reasons for the increase in premiums is because of the mandate to cover pre-existing conditions at the same cost as those without that condition. No other form of insurance allows you to get coverage after you have a reason for a claim; you can't get into a car accident, then purchase car insurance and have that insurance cover that "pre-existing" accident. The way that insurance is supposed to work is that you pay into it in case at some later date you need medical attention, the insurance company can pay for your medical costs. As lbryanwf mentioned, it is in a way like gambling... You are betting against the insurance company that at some later date your health costs will exceed the amount of money you can easily pay for, while the insurance company is betting that the premiums you are paying will exceed the amount of health costs they'll have to pay out. As long as people have health insurance and are consistently paying for it, then the insurance companies should be able to cover for those catastrophic events. But once you force insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions (esp. without increasing that person's premiums above the rest of the pool), in order for the insurance company to stay profitable, they have to increase the premiums on the rest of the members in order to pay for your known costs.
The problem that lead to this mandate is two-fold. First, some insurance companies would drop your coverage after you had some high-cost claim. And then once you were dropped, it became more difficult to get new insurance because that claim was now a pre-existing condition. Another problem was that some people were losing their insurance when they lost their job, and when they were able to get coverage again, they were caught with having a pre-existing condition.
There are ways to reform our health insurance system solve these issues without forcing insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions. First is to have automatic renewal of insurance. So as long as you are paying your premiums, the insurance company has to automatically renew your coverage. This would prevent insurance companies from dropping people once they have made a claim. Also, the insurance should be bound to the individual, not the employer. Tax relief should be given to individuals that purchase health insurance instead of other way around. This would alleviate the costs that business has to pay for their employees, and they could pass that savings onto their workers in the form of a higher salary which the worker would then use to purchase their own insurance. This would allow the person to keep their insurance whether or not they are employed by their current employer. It would also allow the beneficiary to choose what form of coverage they desire. A young person out of college may choose to get a low premium, high deductible catastrophic coverage with the idea that they are healthy so they most likely won't have any claims, and they can save money on their premiums to pay for other, more immediate costs like college loans. Whereas a person in their 40's may choose insurance that has a higher premium, but a lower deductible knowing that they will be needing to go to the doctor more often for things like colonoscopies and breast / prostate exams.
-
Amazing is it not, the general consensus here on this forum that truly is composed of what appears to be a very diverse cross section of the population is that Obamacare is NOT wanted? I dare say that this tiny sampling is representative of the nation as a whole! If you really want to make a difference here, email, wrte, or just call your congress people and let them know your feeelings on this matter! It is a fact that only a handful of people actually communicate with their federal representatives so it really does not take a lot of voices to bring about actiions on their part.
This country remains, a a nation OF THE PEOPLE & BY THE PEOPLE. So I encourage everyone to make their voices heard, pro or con, just speak up! :D
-
I don't understand it... if it's for folks w/o health care it needs to be affordable for eveyone... if not, it's useless!!!
-
I don't know why anyone would be for it. It's going to make the price go up for everyone that already has healthcare and the rest of the people will be in the same situation. I have been denied for pre-existing conditions and I am still be denied for the same reasons.
-
NO ONE in the US is without healthcare as the system existed before Obama, NO ONE! Certainly it was not the best of worlds then, emergency rooms/hospitials COULD NOT refuse services for critical care regaradless of the patients' ability to pay. These costs were/are passed on to those that can pay (i.e. those that have insurance that can be billed). So though it was far from ideal it was functioning as is without Washington and its surrogates getting their hands into the matter any further than they already were.
ObamaCare if fully implemented will destroy almost everyone's ability to chose any aspect of their healthcare. Eventually GOVERNMENT beauracrats will determine what treatments, medicines and care YOU can receive, all determined by their magic formulas on 'cost effectiveness' which has NO COMPASSION for anyone. Obama himself has stated this is the goal.
Regardless of what is hyped about the good this might do, it won't... be afraind, very afraid...
-
I think Obama is one the worst president ever. He should have sent troops in | when they Our intimacy over there in the middle east. So he can get reelected last falls.
-

I say revoke, repeal and get rid of it like the plague it is!!!!!! It will not do anyone any good at all except COST WAY MORE THAN ANYONE CAN OR WANTS TO AFFORD and by the way, IF IT'S SO "GREAT" WHY DOES THE CONGRESS AND SENATE WANT TO BE "EXEMPT" FROM IT!!!!!! I smell a rat!!!!!!!!!!
-
I haven't heard any thing good about Obama care. I have heard that it's going to cost us all more and give most of us less coverage than we have now. There has to be a better solution out thedre.
-
I haven't heard of this care before I would like to know my infor on it.

News flash for both of you. America IS bankrupt, and has been for some time. Financial collapse is imminent, and planned. Simple truth. You had best be prepared for the chaos that is inevitable once it happens, and it will, because as I said, it has been planned this way for a long time. Wake up. If you aren't storing food, supplies, and weapons, and developing a plan to deal with it, to include escaping into hiding, then you are a damn fool, period. Obama will be our last president, I guarantee it. War is coming to the states, and the enemy is right here at home. Truth!

Curious what everyone thinks on Obama care being mandated next year, what are your feelings on it?
Varying, really. Most first world countries have very similar plans in place and (for the most part) work decently. The problem is is the other countries made there reforms in more stable financial times and we're doing ours in unstable times. It was said that our premiums would go down, but I expect them to go up. I have privatized health insurance and it's gone from 190 to 220 in the last year alone. And I was interested to see someone else saying the same thing earlier in this thread.
Here's the thing though- if you think healthcare was working fine before the AHCA was introduced, you're completely naive (or ignorant) to why it hasn't been for a long time. Very few people who were being treated by doctors and going to the ER were paying their bills-- either because they couldn't or they just bailed on it because they knew they wouldn't be turned away. Trips to these are ludicrously expensive for people who are uninsured. Why did it cost 2000$+ for a doctor to do 10-15 seconds of work to pop my shoulder back into place? Why did it cost me 700$+ to wait 2 hours in the ER to talk to a doctor about a neck problem for less than 5 minutes? These are no exhaggerations! I couldn't get health insurance at the time due to a pre-existing condition, so when I was injured, I had no other choice. Imagine what would happen if I had a 5 or 6 digit bill! The system is laughably ridiculous. Something needed to be done about that.
At this point I just hope some good comes out of it. I do not want what happened to me to happen to others. It's completely unfair to pay that much, so if the reform can pillow me from that crap as well as others, I'm fine with it.

You make it seem like Obama will be the cause of the Mad Max-style post apocalyptic world. And if everyone thought like you, I'm sure it would happen! Fortunately most of us aren't fearmongering survivalists, so you may go back to your fallout shelter and lock the vault door. We'll continue watching the future unfold out here with a little optimism.

To be quite honest I am against it because it is a tax that is going to be hard to repeal.

Here is a real shocker!! Today it was announced that the IRS (tax folks) were selecting out certain tax exempt allplications for 'special consideration'. Those that were getting this special attention were organizations with certain words or indicators in their names, such as Patriot, or Tea Party, or any number of things that they deemed them to be 'conservative' or 'anti-Obama'... how do you like that? Regardless of your political views, this is nothing short of criminal and an absolute abuse of power/authority being exercised for political reasons!! It is an outrage... now the good part is that this same IRS is THE designate 'enforcer' that is to assure YOU actively take part in The Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare)... how does that settle with ya? grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Oh it was "announced?" Where?
-
It is being covered by all the major media as best I can tell, I heard it on the radio, ABC affiliate.
-
I think that Obama is a great leader but the Obama care (and/or Romney care-had he made it into office) is not a good concept. I think that it is an excercise in socialism and imposes a greater burden on people that have sacrificed so much to get into jobs that have great benefits. I am aghast at the amount of money that flows from our household's income directly into insurance companies: eighteen hundred/year for homeowners, fourty eight hundred/year for auto, twelve hundred for life....and now our health insurance has gone from fourty eight hundred up to ninety two hundred dollars per year. There has to be a better way to cover the masses without doubling my premiums.

Would you mind if I asked for a link on this? I'm curious about it.

WOAH seriously? Why is that? Did you have another kid or get terribly injured or something?

I have seen this on every news site with the exception of Yahoo.news (no surprise there). You can go to any number of places to read up on the details, abcnews.com definitely is covering it, I did look there and found it. I am certain that foxnews.com is bound to be on it as well but I have not specifically checked there.

I have health insurance but I have alot of friends and family that do not have health insurance. I fully support Obama.
-
Personally, I am against anything Obama!
-
I'm not sure how I feel. I do know that the insurance industry is changing anyway and insurance is costing everyone more money. Prescription costs continue to increase. Many cannot even get insurance. If we continue the way things are, I fear more will go uninsured causing financial problems for hospitals who have to treat people who show up at the emergency room. We all pay the price for the uninsured. What's the answer? I don't know, but I do know that things will continue to change for the worse it seems regardless.

I am definitly a pro obama care believer

I think this is what jmccaskill was talking about: http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/irs-apologizes-for-inappropriately-targeting-conservative-political-groups-in-2012-election/2013/05/11/ea5d5790-ba0e-11e2-b568-6917f6ac6d9d_story.html (http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/irs-apologizes-for-inappropriately-targeting-conservative-political-groups-in-2012-election/2013/05/11/ea5d5790-ba0e-11e2-b568-6917f6ac6d9d_story.html)
Although that report was about investigating the tax exempt status of these groups and not about the compliance with the Affordable Care Act, it is scary to think that the IRS would do something politically motivated like that, and the new health care taxes will just give the IRS even more ammunition to use.

Well if the IRS did do something like this, I can guess it is not short of the many CEO's who sent out memos that they would (fire) or release a employee of their job for voting one way or another. So to speculate that this has something to do with The Plan Obama set out for HealthCare ( which I still think calling it (ObamaCare is radical) When people attach words like (cover up) or ammunition etc.. tend to put a person's mind in overdrive of thinking omg something is wrong. In my thoughts one has nothing to do with the other.
-
yes because he is the biggest joke of a president this country ever had!!!!!
-
To clairfy the issue here with the IRS misconduct; my point was the the IRS is THE enforcment arm to assure that everyone complaies with the mandates of Obama's Affordable Care Act. They, the IRS, are scheduled to hire an additional 16,000 agents to act in this capacity. Furthermore, they will be collecting your personal data in all manner of ways that in some peoples opinion the government in any capacity has no right to have much less act on. Again, this whole health care issue is just another method of geovernment control over its citizens and has nothing to do with what it is touted to be. I cannot find, and I have looked carefully, ONE benefit to be found in this law, and it IS law now, it is not something that MIGHT happen! It is time to either repeal this law or re-create it in a form that will work as it is very obvious that as it is currently it is truly a massive unworkable train wreck.
-
I think it is completely unconstitutional and we are headed for a one-world government! Two thumbs down!
-
Personally, I am against anything Obama!
Equality in the work place? Attempting to lower the deficit? Okay.
-
My feeling is this, if it's SO great, how come Washington isn't going to use it??? Yeah, that's what I thought...
