Is the employment rate up or down from last year in your area?
-
Not really sure. I know there are jobs available here in Knoxville, TN but it seems like there are still more people out of work.
-
The unemployment rate is up, so the employment rate is down here. I know for a fact that some of that was unintended consequences of Obamacare.
-
Their was only half a page of want adds in last Sundays paper. Very few help wanted signs on business here in Middle Tn.

I live in Texas and I think that our rate is going down. But when plants close and businesses relocate, the rate goes back up. It is hard to tell. I think that the rates are used to prove that the economy is getting better. You can use statistics to prove anything, you just use a different way to scramble the data. Can you honestly tell me you believe the government?

Employment rate is alright... A lot of HS looking for jobs usually gets them (probably for cashier and customer service)... For others I am not to sure, finding a EET internship in my area is quite hard (might need to move to Cali or NY for a better selection)

I don't believe MOST of what I read, so who knows? I haven't tried to find a job working for someone else for over 40 years, so can't say how easy or hard it is now.

Help wanted ads are definately up here. there used to be about 5 in the paper, now there are over a page.

The jobs in this area are scarce already, since I live in West Point, MS and have to go to Columbus, MS to the WIN Job Center. As I am going to school majoring in Accounting and have a minor in Information Systems, I am looking for a job in Accounting or Administrative Support. I have been searching the online web sites for such a job.

Ours is down right now, but still high. Many here work for very low wages.
-
The employment rate is up a little here, but it's not really noticeable. It's still a hard time to find a job.
-
It is down, but only because it always goes down in the summer since we are a tourist area. If you take out the fact that these are temporary jobs it is pretty much level, but we have some of the highest unemployment in the country in South Carolina.

A lot of businesses here are desperate for good workers. I wish some of the unemployed who are sincere about looking for work would move to our area.

I thought about that, but you know it costs a lot of money to move and if you are struggling anyway, how do you come up with that? I guess if you rent and don't have anything to move it isn't as bad, but if you have a house to sell it can take months and months and then to move your stuff is thousands of dollars even if you do it yourself and just pay a transport company. You lose money on your house and you have to pay real estate commission and then there is all of the costs associated with a new home purchase. Moving where the jobs are sounds great, but if you own your home it's a bit tricky right now unless you just are willing to lose everything you have. For me, I have kept my credit in tact and my assets, but I struggle to do that, so I don't have thousands of dollars to put together to make a move happen.

Up in my area of Ohio. As of January 27th 2013 the store at which I worked in closed. Its a brand store but they decided that our area didn't need that store anymore, so that put 125 people out of work. A few of our people have found jobs but the rest of us are still unemployed. there are not very many places that are hiring in my city. And the gas prices are to high to have to travel very far for a job.

I know its bad in michigan still

I heard that the unemployment rate is down, but millions of people are still out of work or have given up looking for work.

Just moved here about a year ago from Utah and now just finally got a job. I don't know how employment was about a year ago but i can surely say it's not going up. It is very difficult to find any jobs anywhere in the states anymore. If you have BA degree good luck to ya. You have a masters, I would say you have a better chance. Businesses are hiring you due to your educational background and at least 3 years minimum on the job. Government jobs are even tougher!

I just got a free PSN code from http://linkbitty.com/FreePSNCodes

As many people I see come in and apply I think it is going down, I haven't had as many applicants this year
-
of course down

I'm pretty sure the nationwide employment rate is up so I'd assume that the employment rate is up in new york city. I think it's easy to get a menial job but I think for someone my age to get an actual career is like impossible.

Where do you live? I'm looking to move to another state!
-
Not sure but i think it's higher than last year.
-
I don't know about other places, but here employment rate is down. Hope will get better pretty soon.
-
In my place, it's going up.
-
I do believe it is down just slightly here in Phoenix
-
I would say that it is probably up. Several businesses are closing including the one where I worked. I worked at the local bowling alley for 13 years and it is now closing. Also the Claire's store closed and now I hear that Blockbusters is closing.

Unemployment numbers are supposedly down based on the news, but the numbers are probably stil obscured on people who are either giving up or getting temporary work. I still hear constantly from other people of knowing people who are having issues finding work.
