No problem.  I know what you are talking about.  They are cicadas.  They are starting to "bug" me, too.

Cicadas don't bother me in the least.  When I'm outside, I'm very aware of the sounds of nature and enjoy it.

I don't mind bugs too much outside, don't want them in the house. Spiders no way indoors. My guy sprays every 3 months and no bugs or spiders.

Spiders are evil.  =-P  If there was a council for evil they'd disband after doing a study on spiders; finding out all their evil combined isn't as evil as the nicest spider.

Cicadas are useful for other creatures to eat, fertilizes the ground, and you can eat them if you are adventurous enough. Unfortunately, you can't get rid of the sound. Try telling them "Happy Birthday!", because when they emerge, its at least been 7-14 yrs!!!

Cicadas don't bother me in fact I found it's body shell from a tree. Was going to paint it gold & display it but the shell body crumbled as it lands upon my hand. Spiders don't scare me in fact they help cut down on real pests, mosquito, gnats, & roaches. I hate roaches they're every ware here in FLa. If you've ever been attack by a huge flying roach you'll understand my hating them.

I'm not a fan of bugs at all. But I am less so of any bug that gets out of control. I also agree that although I can tolerate them outside I can't in the house.

I hate all kinds of bugs.  eewww!  One time i had 2 cans of Raid-one in each hand to kill one roach. hehe Also, I never even heard of Cicadas until Yahoo posted something about them a few weeks ago.

I live in Michigan and so far I haven't heard or seen any Cicadas. Usually they would emerge every few years here, but not in swarms. I don't know much about their breeding or hatching seasons or when exactly they're suppose to emerge, but I find it very weird that they aren't in my area this year, but in biblical proportions elsewhere.

On a beautiful night cicadas can be quite relaxing especially if that is only noise around.  It makes you stop and think about nature and how many different  type of creatures actually inhabit the Earth.

I thanked your post for that information, because you taught me something about them I didn't know. I had heard of Cicadas, but didn't know much about them.

We have had problems with ants and spiders getting in. Traps have been laid down and the house sprayed, but at some point they come back. We also get the pesky, small jumping spiders that can be hard to kill at times. I don't like the winter, but it helps cut down on those bugs getting the house so that is good to see.

Our cicadas are now gone, but they really did a number on our trees.  Most of the trees have many clumps of dead leaves on them.

:sad1: The house I live in is spider prone because of all the woods around I guess.  My husband was my spider slayer in shining armor but he passed away recently and I have found I can most of the time chase them down & kill them myself - guess you do what you gotta do because I can't stand spiders.

I see what you mean; cicadas are ugly little suckers, indeed.  We have spiders, and I don't know where these big bugs come from, but they die quick because I make sure of it.  I need to get some Raid; we have other pests; wasps; and I am not afraid of them, but my grandson got stung over a year ago and freaks out whenever he sees them.  I use Raid, and they die fast.

I don't have to deal with them all that much but right now the bugs that are driving me up the wall are fish flies.  They generally aren't bad but what they like to do is coat things.  Park your car outside for a while and you'll come back to one side being blanketed with them, and you either have to wipe them off to get rid of them or pray you can get in without disturbing them cause the ones here will all scatter and get caught in your hair or your clothes.  Neither scenario is that pleasant.

I've heard that we were suppose to get them in our area but, have not seen them yet! I guess they are getting them up to the North of the state. I live in Virginia just southeast of Fredericksburg and have no see a one yet, don't really want to either, saw them up around Washington DC about 7 years back and they were so thick that the sky looked black.

I can't stand bugs! I literally have a phobia or something because I want to cry and tear my skin off when I see a bug. Recently I discovered little holes in my clothes hanging in my closet and with extensive google searching I discovered there's carpet beetles that eat clothes. After that I scrubbed my entire house and I still dread sleeping in my bed. hahaha I'm so dramatic.  :dontknow:

I am not a fan of any bug, I know they are all God's creatures but I do not care for them. I detest many but I want mention them all. I know that bugs were all created for a purpose the same as you and I but that still doesn't change how I feel about them. All I know as they have to eat to but I don't want them hanging around me.

The cicadas have all died here at our farm in Virginia, but they left a lot of tree leaf damage.  After researching, I found that established trees should survive, but newly planted ones may die.  But least I haven't seen any stink bugs lately.

I've never experienced these little critters; however, I've lived in Utah my entire life.  Here in Southern Utah I don't have anything that bothers me except an occasional earwig in my apartment and those things are harmless.

When I lived up by the Great Salt Lake I had a problem with mosquitoes.  That was a nightmare.

Never faced a cicada at my home (only knats) but I can't stand lady bugs and stink bugs at my home... Lady bugs is all fine and all but the lady bug and stink bugs are so annoying when you have a lamp. They just keep on hitting it, making that zzzz sound (poor things die at the bowl after 10-15 hits from contact of the light bulb)... That's why I make special effort to close all the blinds at night so they don't attract anymore to come to my house

They've only just started up where I live.  I don't mind them, but I hate mosquitos.  On the other hand I love sitting on the patio and listening to the chorus of crickets.  I just hope they don't go inside because my kitties will hunt them down.  :cat:  We've stated our monsoon season so now we have the toad chorus at night as well.  Nature's symphony.  :peace:
