Which movie series did you like best, the Harry Potter movies or the Lord of the Ring movies?
-
Lord of the Rings
-
Harry Potter.....love it....
-
I enjoyed lord of the rings a lot more than harry potter because the story doesn't drag on for 5+ movies. Lord of the Rings, as long as the movies are, is just more engaging for my tastes.
-
it somewhat saddens me you said movie series over book series. if i had to pick i would say harry potter movies were better, but nothing beats lord of the rings in book series.
-
I was thinking about a combination of the two... It could have "Lord Harry" as the title.
-
Enjoyed both, but really enjoyed the lord of the rings book.
-
I love to read, but I could not get into Lord of the Rings. not sure why. I have read and reread Harry Potter so many times I lost count. As for the movies, I do enjoy both. But I am somewhat obsessed with Harry Potter, in fact I almost cried when I saw the Harry Potter part of the park in Universal Studios in Florida. So, it is an easy choice for me~ HP!

I have to pass on all of this stuff.
-
The Lord of the Rings was my favorite of the two. Especially the interactions between the dwarf and the elf.
-
I have never seen the Lord of the Rings movies, but I really enjoyed all of the Harry Potter movies. The Harry Potter books were even better than the movies.
-
Harry Potter all the way. I haven't read all of the books for either but I've seen most of the movies and I prefer Harry Potter.
-
I like both,but wouldn't consider myself a die-hard fan of either.I'd take LotR over Harry Potter,I suppose.
-
wow!! this is a VERY tough question for me to answer since I like both all the Harry Potter movies as well as all of the Lord of the Rings movies, but by a very little I think that the Lord of the Rings movies are better
-
Lord of the Rings by far. Written better, had better acting and the big war scenes were great. I read the whole Harry Potter series (I didn't read the Lord of the Rings), which might have added to my frustration as I had expectations to see certain scenes, but had my expectations dashed when they were not included. I also thought often the acting was poor.

Harry Potter

I have read and seen but series, I like both for different reasons, they stories es are different ,While Harry Potter is about the boy that Survived, Lord of the Rings is about the evil of the Middle Earth. I do not think I can say which I like more, I would watch and read both series anytime
-
I did not get into either one. It is simply because I have not gone to a theater since I moved from Chicago 7 years ago. I am not a fan of watching movies with a lot of commercials and prefer to watch the real thing. The special effects for both movies were phenomenal.

I like them both equally but for different reasons since they're not exactly the same. Harry is a lot more fun sometimes than LOTR, but LOTR feels so very epic.
-
Lord of the Ring
-
Lord of the Rings! with no second thoughts!
-
I also liked both for different reasons... It mostly goes to the author's vision of the world (and I think both film writers kept preety well to the original intent).
For LoTR, magic was supposed to be something very grand and powerful, yet at the same time very difficult to accomplish so that it is used sparingly. Thus while Gandalf can cast spells, he generally doesn't do so unless it is absolutely necessary. Also, the spells he does use is usually very subtle (eg no cute phrases, no special effects, etc.). This causes the focus to be more about the "mundane" creatures and the epic battles with physical weapons.
HP on the other hand has magic as the main focus and is prevalent in the world (at least outside of what the "Muggles" can see). Even common stuff (like candy, newspapers, etc.) have some magical aspect to them. Thus the magic is much more in your face.
If I had to choose, probably LoTR since it is more mature in nature and seems more real and epic.

Without question, Harry Potter. I loved the books and even though a couple of the movies were a little bit disappointing, for the most part they were very good. I did really like the LOTR movies too. I still haven't read the books yet, and haven't seen The Hobbit either.
-
Much prefer Harry Potter... Lord of the Rings is just fiction... ;D
-
It was really interesting to hear all of your answers and the reasoning behind each. Thanks for sharing.
-
HARRY POTTER! ONLY BECAUSE WE SHARE THE SAME BDAY ;D
-
They are both good movies.
-
Both great series, but I'm more attached to the Lord of the Rings.
I couldn't stop watching the The Fellowship of the Ring when my family first bought it when I was ten.
It was a choice between some movies at walmart and it was my turn to pick,I chose The Fellowship of the Ring and the rest is history!
Now at age twenty-two,I own the book and movie trilogy.
-
Lord of the rings was good, but I like Harry Potter much better.
-
Definitely....Harry Potter!
-
I liked both equally the same but you really cannot compare them as they really are two different kinds of movies. One is more to do with magic and the other more to do with a curse. They are sort of the same if you compare them by theme. But actually I like long series especially if they are well done or really entertain me. Also, Harry Potter was a bit funny in many places. So, I liked them both.
-
Lord of the Rings! I have been a Frodo fan for 30+ years now.
-
I liked them both, for different reasons. I've been a Lord of the Rings fan my entire life, but watching Harry Potter as an older person reminded me of reading the books with my son when he was younger.
